  1. from US and now they're putting it right in my pocket. I'm behind on my Chase card. Hmmm, how can this be? I have the money auto deducted from my account every month. Oh, wait Chase arbitrarily raised my monthly payment . Now, I've seen that this can be done, in the small print, but in 40 years I've never had this happen before. To make a long story short I get a letter from them (Chase) offering to assist me by and I quote: Reduce your interest rate Reduce your monthly payment Reduce your debt Reduce your worries So naturally I give them a call. All they want to assist with is lightening my already lighter than air wallet. In fact the only help I got so far was immediate cancellation of the Chase card. I'm supposed to call them back with my life and debt history, but I can't see it. I guess I'm in a trick here and don't really know what to do. Thanks for listening.
  2. Hello to all. My name is Denny and I have been watching the most impressive forum site I have seen in a long time, congrats to all. I lucked out and bought my first Yamaha 3 months ago, just trying to find something to go riding with one of my kids. Turned out to be this '83 Royale with all the trimmings. Didn't know I was getting the best, strongest, and fastest dresser ever made (apologies to you second gen types). Fortunately bike had no major faults other than a few scratches and knicks and most of the side plastic is held on with cable ties, changed oil, filter, and synced the carbs and it runs like a top. As I said I've been watching the site and feel like I already know a bunch of you. Seems the closest to me is Silver Deer on Camano Island. To the rest of you, Thanks for all the excellent info I've picked up, and thanks for NOT being a bunch of (fill in blank) like some of those HD drivers. Enough for now, but anyone in the area can give me a call and we'll work something out.
  3. Got a call from Mike (CMIKE) last night. Wanted to know if I were up for a ride today. I had been watching the weather call for rain all week, but lo and behold today they had miraculously dropped the forcast to less than 20%. So, lets go. He came by my house this morning and we cut out for Hattiesburg. I wanted to show off my stolen (at least that's what Squidley called it) Venture to some of my Harley and G/W riding co-workers. We had lunch, then showed off both Ventures (Silver IS the fastest and gets better fuel mileage too! ) Well where to next? Ever been the the Grand Canyon of Mississippi? http://www.geocities.com/t_2m/Welcome_to_Red_Bluff No, not until today, so we made the trip. Pictures don't do it justice, and no it is nowhere near as big as the "real thing" but it is a beautiful place and there are a few twisties to get there. One of my co-workers mentioned that MS587 is kinda curvey. I guess he has never been to the Smokies... Around a 250 mile day for me and a bit more for Mike as he lives about 90 miles from me. Not a bad first outing. Thanks for suggesting it Mike!!!
  4. Just broke kickstand on my 87 VR. The top flange and bolt shearred off. If anyone has these parts for sale, please call me on cell phone: 304-707-7146 (my computer is down and my wife put this on her computer at work) Thanks, Bob
  5. I'm looking for a old Verizon phone, the idea is to activate a new line on my account and transfer my business landline to it to save some $$$. The phone needs to be able to make one (yep, one) call, and one call only as I plan on routing all traffic to my cell phone. After that, the screen can go blank, the battery c an die, the keys can get stuck and anyting else that can go wrong. Since I am doing this the "frugal way" anyone within, say SC, western NC, Northern Ga or eastern TN, preferred so I can basically get it at one of the M&E's. that don't work I suppose a padded enveloppe would work too. I can get a $20 phone from Verizon but don't want to sign a contract. If you have one, or know someone who has one; great! If not, Oh well!!
  6. I just spoke with mary at the oberlin inn and we are all lined up for the weekend of june 19th. They have rooms set aside at 89.95 per nite. Just mention venturerider when you call. 9. Guys I put my stock mufflers back on the RSV.No this isnt about who does or does not like loud pipes,I just got tired of the noise on LONG trips. The Lesson Learned.....CHECK YOU PART NUMBERS ON ANY PART YAMAHA SELLS YOU. I worked 5 hours trying to make my Exhaust gaskets fit on the Bike. I look at the part number....The last 5 numbers that is..Humm it says 14714,Why isnt it working,do I need to beat the gasket flatter to get it to fit proper? It fit in the muffler end..Whats the problem. I call Ponch , He says its real easy. I call Roadhand,"No problem Tom Just put it on and slide the muffler on"..OK another 45 minutes I am now about to stroke out so I go look at the part # on the Internet parts catalog The full Part # is 3XW-14714-00-00..well I said Thats what I have...Puzzled so I look at the package the guy gave me...Part # 4NNK-14714-00-00..(wrong Number) What a dumb a$$..I put the mufflers on in 20 minutes after getting the correct part. The part #4NNK-14714-00-00 is the gasket for the header pipe. Lesson is what all our wives have told Us,READ THE DIRECTIONS, in this case READ THE PART number. Im writing this to give a heads up as it was frustrating to say the least. Be safe Tom

  11. I've been trying for 3 straight days to call Clearview and keep getting their answwering machine. They did return an e-mail after 24 hours but basically it said to call them. Anyone else have this kind of problem contacting Clearview Shields? Makes me a little cautious on using them.
  12. I read the posts and did the soldering and went from an E4 error code to an E2 error code. I can now hear clicking at the rear of the bike where the compressor is but it doesn't run. I'm about to call Progressive Suspensions and say the hell with it. Anybody have any ideas?
  13. Just a warning, I tend to get wordy and detailed when it comes to this. So this might be long. I live in Indiana and have Verizon home service. We have 2 phone lines. My wifes work required it at the time and they paid for both. Her work recently said we only require one line and we will only pay for one line. We will use Line A for the primary (home) line and Line B for the secondary (work related) line. We thought great, we will drop the line A. So we called and it was confirmed at the end of May line A was disconnected. Line A was connected to 2 phones and 2 satallites. Line B was connected to just the work phone. Well we didn't thoroughly think it through as Line A is also connected to the satallite dishes which if not connected to a phone line charges us $10 (we have 2 receivers). What we were trying to accomplish at this point is reconnect Line A and then disconnect Line B. So we called back a few days later (this would be around the beginning of June). We were told it would be back on at midnight by the next day. Check the phone line, nothing. Ok, we will give it another day just in case. Checked the next day, nothing. Called Verizon and was told it would be on by midnight. Checked the next morning and nothing. In the mean time we are getting letters saying the phone line was connected. We are also getting voicemails asking for us to call them back to confirm we wanted the line connected. We have an order # and a confirmation #. Some people could not find the confirmation # or if they find it, they can't see any notes in regards to it. The same thing would happen when I gave them the order #. We would litterally call back everyday and sometimes at least twice in the same day. Everytime me or my wife would call in we would get different answers, sometimes different promises and promises broken. Sometimes a rep would read back to me the notes in their system (big mistake). Well they have recorded conversations that actually contradicts their notes and I asked on several occasions to have those recordings pulled (and of course they haven't been). They will tell you that phone calls are randomly recorded. This isn't true. I work in customer service. They are all recorded. Some get randomly pulled for quality review. A company isn't going to have some calls recorded. Just think if something were to go to court.... Company so and so, customer has all the documentation. Where is your documentation. Well the conversation didn't get recorded....That ain't gonna happen. A rep told me they would credit us for one day. ONE DAY. I don't think so. At that point we had been dealing with this issue for at least a week now. We do not have inside wire maintenance agreement which means if they do any work related to the wiring inside the house, they will charge $90 every 30 minutes. We were told by at least one rep (under recorded call) that any/all charges for repairs under line A and B would be waived. The connection fee would also be waived (found out later the rep noted for a $25 credit). Talked to another rep and they say Line A-no charges, Line B-charges unless if messing with Line A causes Line B to go out. After countless reps and supervisors in multiple depts....I would talk to a repair dept. rep who would say they have no authority to waive charges. Ok who does....so she sent me to her supervisor who also said they can't waive the charges. Then why did your rep say you could? supervisor said, billing dept can. Ok get me over there. billing dept is saying they have no authority to waive charges. WTF..... The problem with the line A after it they said it was reconnected was no dial tone and if you call into it, it would ring busy. This tells me whatever button they pushed at the office to reconnect it, they did not do it correctly as there was nothing wrong with the phones before we disconnected it. So after 2-3 weeks we finally got a tech out on Wednesday. He got it to where if you call, it would ring, but if you were to pick up the handset, no dial tone. He told my wife that he was going to mark his work order as completed and then for us to call Verizon to get inside wire maintenance and then tell them the phone line isn't working so it would be fixed for free. Some people can do that. We can't. Wife called Verizon back said it still is not working and she has to have a working line since uses it for work. The guy had left and I told my wife to check line B just in case. Sure enough it doesn't work which tells me the tech just switched the lines. Now at this point we have 2 non working lines. Another tech came out that day, confirmed the 1st tech did switch the lines. This tech fixed it to where we now have phone service on Line A on 3 phones (the jack for Line B actually has 2 ports so you can plug into Line A or B) but no satellite so it is partially fixed. He also gave us his supervisors phone # to call and talk about the wiring issues and related charges. This tech also said there is some bad wiring in the cat 5 wire. Whatever that means. Since that is inside the walls, we would have to charge you for it if we repair it, but no charges for what he did. A 3rd tech came out yesterday and said we came because we heard of the issues (sounds like they were just trying to help out). My wife said no because we don't agree to the charges (and were told by cust. reps there would not be any) So yesterday I called the tech supervisor. I don't know who this Jackhole think he is, but he was extremely rude. I do not take that so I gave it back. I have a call into his supervisor (who is supposed to call me back on Monday) because I will not tolerate anyone talking to me they way this guy did. I started talking to him about the situation. After only a couple minutes he said let me interuppt. He said he is familiar with the situation and he wanted for me to understand that they would charge for the repairs for any inside wiring. So I started asking questions since he was familiar with it. He said I don't know I have 125,000 customers. I asked if he thought (asking for his opinion) if the satellite company did the wiring. He said I don't know who wired the house. I didn't ask whether you knew or not, I asked if you thought the satellite company could be responsible for the supposedly bad wire. I do not believe it has anything to do with the wiring. The connections were just fine before they disconnected line A. He said what do you want me to do, go back to the office and look everything up. He said No I am not going to do that as he was at home. Well you said you were familiar with the situation. Either you are or you aren't. Which one is it? He reiterated again (very sternly) that anything related to the wiring they were going to charge us for it. I said they why when I call into Verizon they are telling me differently. He said, I don't know you probably just talked to some cust. service rep. I don't care if I talk to Obama. It is legally documented recordings. It if was said you are libel to do it. So at this point we are both hot. He said I told you I will personally be out tomorrow (better not be there when I am at home). I told him I didn't hear you say you would be at my house tomorrow. He said did you hear me this time. He also said did you hear me when I told you, you will be charged for fixing the wiring. I asked then why did someone come out to our house that day. He said I don't know, no one told me about it. I asked why is someone coming out on the 29th. I don't know....what do you want me to do about it. I have 125,000 customers. After a couple more minutes of this I finally said go ahead and come out. If there is anything that needs to be fixed related to the wiring then we will take it to the next step. He said consider it done. I was hot, very, very hot. I went out to mow the lawn to try and calm down. I couldn't do it. So I picked up the phone. The 1st person I spoke with at the Verizon office, I said I need to talk to the repair dept. No questions asked and got transferred. Next person. I don't want to talk to a supervisor. I want to talk to someone above the supervisor. Got the highest level management that I could (whatever level that was). I started going off that NO ONE EVER TALKS TO ME THAT WAY!!!!!. I explained the whole situation and what this Jacka$$ supervisor said. She agreed that they are professionals and he should not have acted that way. So I said she would contact his supervisor and he would call me today. I got a call today from that supervisors office stating he is out of the office and would call me on Monday. So the long and still never ending saga is still going on.

  16. Well at MD , I noticed that my pillow top seat was ripping at the seams . Within the pleats where the naugahyde was vulcanized . Scoot is just over 3 years old now with almost 52K miles on it . It's not a tear , rip , or normal wear and tear , just coming apart . I went to my dealer today to show them the seat . Service manager said that Yamaha would more than likely not cover it . Well I said to him , just call the rep and tell them to just call me direct to tell me that if they are not going to cover the seat . I told him also to tell the rep to be prepared to receive numerous e-mails from VR.Org if the seat will not be replaced also . 2 hours later , I got the call from the service manager that I will have a new seat with 2-7 days . So thanks to all of you VR.Org members in advance for standing behind me . Man , can I BS !! :rotf: BEER30

  19. I got my trike back 2-28, late afternoon. On the way home I noticed that the neutral light does not come on when in neutral. Also the OD light does not come on when in 5th gear. The curise control does not stay on. I went back to the dealer on 3-3 at 0900, the time that they open, and their first day to open after the weekend. They told me that they were too busy to do anything now and to call and make an apt. (After I paid just short of $2K to get it fixed) I made a call to a friend of mine and was told that the switch, or connection for the neutral light and maybe the OD light is behind the cover on the left side of the bike at the foot shifter. Before I get started on this task I wanted to ask you guys who might have had some type of problem like this for your help. Any ideas? or pictures? so I'll have some idea of what I'm doing. I'm all done with this dealer and begining to compose a letter to Yamaha. Ken:fingers-crossed-emo
  20. Saturday, I am putting my lovely wife and our 17 yo son on a plane to Phoenix. They are going to spend the week watching the Brewers and the Cubs in Spring Training. Wish I could go along, but some one has to stay here with the other 3 kids and the dogs - and to pay for the trip. I certainly don't think it will be needed, but is there someone out in the Phoenix area that would be willing to help if something goes wrong? Neither of them are 'professional' travelers, but they should be OK. I have programmed the airport, hotel, and all the ball parks onto the GPS they will be taking along. Again, I don't think they would need to call. But if something happens and we need some local info, will anyone volunteer to accept a phone call for help? Just trying to cover my bases (pun intended). RR
  21. Just got off the phone with Gary. He survived the surgery and except for the fact that the hospital is trying to starve him, he is doing well. He expects to be released tomorrow or possibly Friday. If anyone would like to give him a call, he has a phone in his room. Forgot to get his room number, but the number for the hospital switchboard is 1.218 732.3311. Ops, his last name is Kloehn.... Sorry bout that.
  22. Has anyone else heard of this? THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE We actually received a call last week from the 809 area code. The woman said 'Hey, this is Karen . Sorry I missed you--get back to us quickly. I have something important to tell you.' Then she repeated a phone number beginning with 809 We didn't respond. Then this week, we received the following e-mail: Do Not DIAL AREA CODE 809, 284, AND 876 THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE 809 This one is being distributed all over the US . This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call. Be sure you read this and pass it on. They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc. In each case, you are told to call the 809 number right away.. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls. If you call from the U.S. , you will apparently be charged $2425 per-minute. Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. WHY IT WORKS: The 809 area=2 0code is located in the Dominican Republic . The charges afterward can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong. Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and colleagues to help them become aware of this scam. AT&T VERIFIES IT'S TRUE :http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=6045 SNOPES VERIFIES IT'S TRUE: http://www.snopescom
  23. just wondering if any of you guys have had to buy paint for a newer rsv-06- my bike had been dropped when i bought it last year and i have been everywhere looking for paint, even the local yamaha doesn't have a clue,i think they call mine very dark red met. but i can't find a code so???? any help -thanks
  24. I took the new to me 87 venture out for the second time today. The first time I took it out I knew that the brakes were less than adequate. So after cleaning everything up, took her out again. I was cruising along at about 70mph,gave the brakes a quick test and they felt much better. All of a sudden the front wheel locked up, violently skidding from one side of the road to the other I somehow managed to hold onto it and get her pulled to the side of the road where I had to then call a buddy and get it trailered home. What in the he@#! do you guys think could have caused this? Now I am a little gun shy to take it back out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  25. Today I was called by the dealer who is fixing the engine in my bike. He told me that he had some bad news for me. The Yamaha rep told him that Yamaha is not going to stand behind fixing my bike because it had been triked and has a trailer hitch on it. The dealer told me that he is going to call the rep on Tuesday and talk to him and see if he can change his mind. It that doesn't work he will then call the rep's boss and see what he can get done. The dealer told me that I'll probable have to call Yamaha Customer Service sometime in the middle of the week and see if I can get them to do something about fixing the engine. The problem is with the piston. It has 4 marks on it that are on oppisit sides these run verticle from just under the top of the piston to the bottom. I'll try to attach a picture of the piston. I've had Yamaha all my life. Looks like this will be my last. Ken
