1. Hey Annie! I see Bongobob sent a gift your way: HERE Just proves that VentureRiders are a sharing bunch.
2. Let's try this again. I quit monitoring the other thread because activity got slow and those requesting parts that I did have seemed to not follow through when I PM'd them letting them know that I did have the parts they were looking for. But I, noticed today that there had been some recent activity that I was unaware of. So, I'm starting this new thread to let everyone know that I do still have a bunch of 1 gen parts mostly MK1 83- 85 but some MK2 86-93 parts. Most of the most asked about plastic is gone but I do have the following left 83-85 MK1 both saddle bags tank cover rear fender Complete frame Almost complete engines 1200 and 87 1300 controls parts and cables brakes and system parts and a bunch of other misc parts I would like to move them and get them out of the work space and I'm done trying the ebay route so these parts are going super cheap and in some cases free as long you will pay for shipping. If you need some thing PM me what it is and I will answer you back by PM. I'm real motivated to help out other members by clearing these parts out to new homes that need them.
3. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all of our friends. I wanted to let all of you know how thankful we are to belong to such a wonderful bunch of people. All of you are in our thoughts on this holiday. Al & Renate
4. Hello to all. My name is Denny and I have been watching the most impressive forum site I have seen in a long time, congrats to all. I lucked out and bought my first Yamaha 3 months ago, just trying to find something to go riding with one of my kids. Turned out to be this '83 Royale with all the trimmings. Didn't know I was getting the best, strongest, and fastest dresser ever made (apologies to you second gen types). Fortunately bike had no major faults other than a few scratches and knicks and most of the side plastic is held on with cable ties, changed oil, filter, and synced the carbs and it runs like a top. As I said I've been watching the site and feel like I already know a bunch of you. Seems the closest to me is Silver Deer on Camano Island. To the rest of you, Thanks for all the excellent info I've picked up, and thanks for NOT being a bunch of (fill in blank) like some of those HD drivers. Enough for now, but anyone in the area can give me a call and we'll work something out.
5. Would anyone be interested in something like this? Guess I should be a little more specific. I'm checking into having a bunch of these made & was wondering if there would be enough here to warrant it.
6. I ordered the running lights from Yamaha and bought the mount from a venture rider member. Everything is fine except the bolt that runs from the light frame and screws into the piece that holds the turn signals is missing. The bolt has a hole through the middle to run the wire through. Can't find it anywhere and the parts dept. I ordered the lights from seem to think I will have to order a bunch of things I don't need just to get the two bolts. Any ideas or does anyone have them laying around that would be willing to sell to me. Thanks.
7. Why does the search engine refuse to use any search term with fewer than four letters? I can think of lots of searches that might need a three letter key word: Oil Fan LED or LCD Bar Air Gas DOT, SAE, JIS, ISO (and other acronyms) Cap (i.e. gas cap can't be searched) I'm sure I could come up with a bunch more if I tried - I have actually hit several of these on more than one occasion when searching. Is this part of the forum package or is it something that can be changed? Thanks Ross
8. Had a nice ride home across the mountains, took a little over an hour. Laura just yelled down at me to come help unload everything. What an absolutely super bunch of folks. This was another great get together in Asheville and it seemed everyone had a great time. We had great food, a little rain, great rides with LOTS of twisties, a little rain, great visiting around the campsite, a little rain and more good food and the loudest frogs in the lilly pond I have ever heard. I was not sure at first how many were going to be able to show up, but we had a bunch of people and bikes there. I will check back later and hope I can get the pictures out of the camera. Thanks everyone for helping Laura and me have such a great time!!! RandyA
9. linda and i are so glad that you made it through this terrible ordeal. cindy, i really owe you many more thanks then i can put into words for hanging with me on the 09 rally committee. thought i was going to lose you several times , but you hung in there and never let me down. if you would not have been there this whole rally would have been doomed from the git go. for all you folks that don't know, cindy took the job of registration, t-shirts, and a whole bunch of other jobs to numerous to mention and ran with them. so when your all down there at the rally having a great time, a whole lot of thanks needs to go to cindy. you did good girl. and we love ya for it. bill and linda. :clap2::clap2:
10. Ok i'm looking at buying a Venture my first I',m looking at a 1999 with 46000 and a 2000 with about the same is there anything that I should look for before buying are there any typical problems with these bikes that I should be aware of or look for before buying i know they are used bike and not new but i can't afford to buy a bike and then have to stick a bunch of money into repairs so I was hoping that some more experienced Venture owners might share some of the problems they may of had. Thanks for any help Jeff
11. okay group it's time to get back to work. the 09 rally date is coming up fast. check in on the private site and let me know where we are at on your special assignments. i think i have all my ducks in a row. so if any one needs any help give me a holler. need to get going on the vendors, and a possible bike part flea market area. also entertainment. the big assignment for everyone that is planning on attending is getting registered and throwing us any ideas that you have to make this a better meet. also any one that wants to donate something for the drawing pm me, roadkill, or dooder1. looking forward to this one and really want to see a bunch of new and old faces there. for those that can't decide, i will garrantee there is some of the most awesome riding and beautiful country in the usa as soon as you pull out of the hub. not to mention a great bunch of venture riders will be there to share the great times with including ole snarley bill, and my great commiitee. :rotf:we are all working hard to make this a memorable event for everyone that attends.
12. This was my 1st MD as well and I had an absolutely great time. I rode down and back with a great bunch of people, and met a great bunch of people once I got there, Many of whom I had often chatted with on chat such as yama moma ( who for some reason I thought was blonde (no pun intended)and wasn't but was definitly a warm and friendly person.Minimuffin ( who I some how thought would be taller ) An obviously fun loving person full of mischief. Lonna whos infamous cheese cakes I finally got to sample (hope I didn't cut into your action to severly Big Tom:innocent-emoticon: ) Squidly Who I found out actually only has 2 tennn ahh I mean arms' who should hire himself out as a professional MC Great job Squidly,Of course Bongobobny was there handing out spare parts a man with not just a golden bike but a heart of gold as well ,And A real big hand :dancefool:to all the guy's working on others bikes ((a special thanks to Carl (aka Marcarl) who helped me out with some of my issues)) they were all just an awsome bunch of guys. Last but not least an Extra Special thanks to Don and Eileen for all thier hospitality and efforts. It was agreat honour to finally after all these years meet you both (And Don somehow I thought you would be shorter but you are actually one tall drink of water, OOPS did I say WATER:rotfl:) ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR EVERYTHING DON AND EILEEN:thumbsup2:
13. well, what a crowd showed up for the meet last night. we met at the crackerbarrel at 7pm and took a short ride to my house, for coffee and cake. alot of old freinds are here, and met a bunch of new members. all in all, as usual, a great bunch of people. as tired as i was, i had a ball. wrongway and lowell came yesterday afternoon and we sat on the patio and drank a few beers and did some reminising, when i should have been catching up on some sleep. well i'm ready to hit it again for the big ride today. we meet again at 8am. got to go clean the bike up a little before i leave. kbran had a spill in some gravel on the trip here and hurt his ankle. he stayed in the room last night with an ice pack on it, i hope he is okay. i will check on him this morning. bill ps. i heard a little bit of gossip last night. wrongway just may have lived up to his name again and missed my street with the group he was leading. i saw them go by, don't want to make any false accusations. i will get to the bottom of it today. :rotf::rotfl:
14. A couple pics in Crackerbarrels parking lot Thurs. evening. Friday brought bad weather. That ol' Snarley guy and LA didn't scare me (to bad) so hopefully I will ride back down Sat and at least have breakfast with the bunch. If the ones I met are a representation of all the VR members, seems like a good crowd to be in.
15. Today, I heard a bunch of bikes outside, and when I looked, there were motorcycle troopers leading 2 buses full of Ft. Campbell soldiers coming back home. They were followed by about 50 riders, and several cars, all displaying flags. It was pouring rain...hard...really hard. I am sure they were Patriot Guard members. I have thought about joining the Patriot Guard for some time now, and I know there are several members on here. Could one of you hook me up with a number and name of a chapter that is close to me in West Tennessee? I would REALLY appreciate it. Us Vets like to take care of each other. Thanks in advance. Patrick
16. I just a thing in the mail for me to go to direct buy for a open house. I dont know a soul who has ever been there or knows anything about it but they do say they can save you a bunch of money but I tend not to believe til its proven to me. ANyone out ther know anything about these?
17. Hey 1st genners, We have a member on the site that is having a problem. He's not real good with his english and he and I have been having corrispondence. He has a 1200 Venture and like many of you, is hating the braking system. Now I know on the 1300's that they can be upgraded with R1 calipers and better rotors. I have never dug deep enough into the 1200's to know what some of you fellas have done to upgrade the brakes on these particular models. Could some of you share any knowledge on this thread here and help steer this fella in the right direction, Thanks a bunch
18. How's the weather up there? I see all the schools are running late. I hope you didn't get iced in too bad. We just got a bunch of rain down here and it has stayed above the freezing point. How about all you other northern MN folk, how you doing?
19. Just bought a GW trike body off ebay. Thinking about making my 88 a trike. Do you think I'll get grief by the Venture bunch for using GW parts on it? I just hope to make it different enough it won't be mistaken for a GW.
20. Ok, don't get excited..., but I went to look at a 99RSV yesterday. It was a salve that the owner was trying to rebuild, and had bought some of the parts needed off Ebay. It had seen better days with lots of damage to the plastic, dented tank, etc. The motor is reputed to have a V-Max cam installed, but no documentation. I basically turned it down because I don't need another 'project' in my life, but then got to thinking that maybe it might have some redeeming value. Repaint it black?? I took a bunch of pics HERE , and if you look at the pics of the rear end it looks like the saddles and tire are out of alignment. Or maybe it's an optical illusion?? Whatcha think??
21. counting the days for the st. jude ride. coming from st. charles, mo. down hwy. 55. anyone want to ride along? leaving st. charles at 5 am. if it rains i am going to cage it. but i will be there. who all is going. lets here it from you. i am planning to make it a round trip on saturday, but may stay over in memphis and come back sunday morning. this is one great must do meet. the bunch that did it last year will agree with me for sure. hope to see a bunch of our members there. bill :clap2::clap2:
22. I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for me. Sometimes its the little things that can overwelm you and nock you to the ground. I thank everyone for their concern and with to thank Don for bringing all together. You a great bunch of misfits and I love you all!! Your brother, kenw
23. The Pirate Ship pulls out another one. First place in Touring over a bunch of Harleys and Wings. She's 2 for 2 now.
24. Last Wednesday 7/16/08 a bunch of us went to Quaker Steak and Ale bike night in Bloomsburg PA. I saw 3 other 2nd gen Ventures besides mine, but no one around them. Was any of these three members here? This was only 50 miles from my location but I don't know of any members around me. I did get to meet with Craig and his wife earlier in the summer. I would like to get a meet and eat going in north east Pa. I ride with a group that likes to ride and EAT, we usually go out to eat once a week. I ride the only Venture but everyone else rides Yamahas, sometime we pick up a stragler on a Harley. Any one else that would like to join in let me know, I will do my best to get a bunch together. ROY:thumbsup2:
25. I think a bunch of us should all get together on the fourth of July and do some advertising for the group and the website, and ride in the parade in Chetek, WI. I'm gonna check and see if there is going to be a bike show again this year too. I got best in show last year.
