  1. hey dooder, give us a medical update. we haven't heard from you for awhile. hope your therapy is working.
  2. back to the lighter side, i really am getting excited now. this will really be a slow week. sure am looking forward to hitting the road next sunday. think i will head out to st. louis bread company for coffee and come home and work on the bikes. beautiful day out there.
  3. hey boss hog, first off welcome aboard. we have a private planners site on here. i have picked some very good and qualified people and my very good friends to be on the 09 committee. they were picked because they all know what they are doing and do it well. they have all been thanked many times on the private site, and here on the watering hole. and they know how much i appreciate what all of them are doing. cindy is a long time member of this site that will take on a job and flat run away with it. she is unstopable. with some of the things she has been through she never faltered. i can't keep up with her. she has made my job so easy. when i took on this task i had no idea how much work went into registration, t-shirts, patches, rally ticket sales, making name badges, etc.. i am not putting cindy above anyone else on the committee. i am thankful to all of them for their help. i just can't thank cindy enough for digging me out of the hole i would have been in if she would'nt have made this rally a major part of her life, even more so then i have. so if you think i am an ahole thats your right. snarley bill
  4. hardley is almost halfway there. they will make it someday. maybe firing willy g would be a good start. :cool10:
  5. i wear a 3/4 in the summer and a full helmet in the winter. i only got one brain and as little of it there is i take real good care of it.
  6. come on folks, take a chance on these belt buckles. they are awesome and for a great cause. lets set a new record when we go to st. jude this year. between the 09 rally, brads weigh in, and dragonriders meet at vogel. we should be able to top last year no problem. also be thinking about the ride to st. jude sept. 12th.. it gets bigger every year. as for the trailer raffle, we have some great prizes for that. buy them tickets. you can't win if you don't play. :clap2: TIMES RUNNING OUT
  7. just got done putting the hitch on my wing. now i have two bikes with hitches and still no wire looms. they are on order but not on the way. may have to look locally. i think the worst part is out of the way.
  8. there is an aweful lot of sight seeing between ar. and ga.. you could take weeks to get to ga. and not see it all.
  9. for everyone that has the time available. consider swinging over to vogel on the way home. lewis puts on a first class meet. if everything goes right i will be heading that way after the 09 rally. what a perfect august that would be. 2 world class meets in a row. then a little break to get ready for the st. jude run. :clap2:
  10. so, are you coming or do we have to send the mafia to get you?
  11. them belts are expensive. i think one for my v-star is several hundred bucks. ouch!
  12. subscribers are usually a week ahead. i checked borders today and the august issue is the latest. they should be there next week.
  13. i would have thought the venture would blow the harley away. if nothing else the technology would do it. overhead cam, four valves per cyl., watercooled, shaft drive, premium warranty, great price. etc. accept for the lack of injection, which i never missed, and the tape deck. it is still a very up to date bike. i would be proud to own and ride one. i loved my rstd. and could easily dust an oem harley. the only complaint i had was the handling. it wallowed when pushed hard in the curves, but it was'nt meant to be a crotch rocket.
  14. you have a point, but i would rather have a belt break than a rearend go caput. it's like anything new or old, stuff can happen. i had a new escort and broke a timing belt at 5000 mile. got it replaced and never had another problem. drove it 130,00 mile and gave it to my niece she ran over 150.000 miles. a rear end can go out and your talking really big bucks. mostly if your out in the middle of nowhere. most dealers don't stock rear end assemblies. a wing rear end assembly is over $1200.00 plus labor to install it. i imagine they all run about that. i like shaft drive fine. i'm just saying i have come to like and accept belt drive also.
  15. well the rally is a liittle over a week away, and i think we got all are apples in one basket. lots of folks coming, lots of plans for a good time, lots of good food, good rides, vendors, great place and hosts at the hub where we are having it. alot of folks are coming that haven't registered, and that is okay. we got you covered. i sure was lucky to have the folks that i picked for my committee. i lucked out and got some keepers. cindy has gone out of her way, and worked very hard on this meet. she makes me feel like i did'nt do anything. thats why i picked her. i want to thank all the folks on the committee and the ones that had to leave because other commitments arose, the moderators , who gave great input. and don for keeping us all out of trouble. by the way don was the one who came up with the design for the awesome t-shirts and patches. rose bud donated the use of the machine to make the name buttons. see you all there and i hope we put a good one together for you. we did our absolute best. see you all at the hub. snarley bill
  16. there was a time when i was anti belt drive. i thought it was cheap and silly looking, kind of motorbikish. i have since had two bikes with belt drive. the plusses over shaft drive are 1) zero maintenance never had to adjust one between tire changes. 2) they will last 100,000 miles. 3) much less unsprung weight than a shaft drive. the only minus is when properly adjusted i get a belt whine when coming to a stop. not noticable at any other time, and you have to know what your doing on the initial ajustment so it does'nt ride to one side of the pulley. i have been converted almost totally. on the other hand i prefer the shaft drive on my wing cuz of the single sided swingarm and ease of removing the rear wheel.
  17. so far they haven't answered my email. i will be calling them if i don't here from them today. just wanted to see what kind of business they would be getting. so i could give them an idea what to expect. i saw a striper at a dealer doing a whole goldwing and i think it was about $400.00 he was getting alot of striping. way more than i would want.
  18. i'm kind of hooked on the nomad which is basically the same bike as the voyager less the trunk, fairing, and the audio. it also has different handle bars and seats. i can't seem to find one around here. i don't know why i am interested in one cuz i love my v-star 1300. i just like the overall appearance and the big motor. it may not be on the list after i see one and sit on it. the voyager just does'nt blow my mind, and will never be equal to my wing, which ain't going nowhere.
  19. randall said he is famous for his prime rib. so you'all don't want to miss the big dinner.
  20. thats a neat deal. thanks ponch for lining that up. better leave my credit card some where, where i can't find it.
  21. i guess the price would depend on how much you have done. he has a website but it is under construction so there is'nt much on it yet. randall got me his name. they build custom bikes. his web sight is www.lwcustoms.com .
  22. i am negociating with a custom bike builder in ar. that does pinstriping, airbrush, and led lighting sales and installation. how many would be interested in having something done on there bike on site at the rally? bill
  23. you better be there. i already told everyone you were coming and they are expecting you.
