  1. and those 10 are all related too prolly LOL
  2. OK..so I checked into this and our insurance company (ICBC) which is government only gives a discount on your Comprehensive or Specified Perils coverages ONLY if you're using a "Passive Electronic Immobilizer". The amount of the discount is dependant on the type of vehicle and the area you live. Had meeting with the adjuster today and I'm covered with a $300 deductible but no deals for having a club installed.
  3. not in this case
  4. I tried resampling the image in Corel Photopaint but even tho I can change the dpi, the resolution is still distorted when the pic is made bigger. Here's a snippet of info about this process.... When the Resample Image box is checked, any changes you make to an image's width or height will not change the image's resolution, and as such, any changes you make to an image's resolution will not affect the image's width and height. Keep in mind, however, when you increase width and height, or resolution, you are adding pixels to your image. These pixels don't actually exist so Photoshop must create them. As such, you will succeed only in degrading the quality of your image. If you want to increase an image's width and height, or resolution, then uncheck the Resample Image box. Now any changes you make to the image's width and height will change the image's resolution, and vice versa: •If you decrease resolution, the width and height will increase •If you increase resolution, the width and height will decrease •If you increase the width or height, the resolution will decrease •If you decrease the width or height, the resolution will increase The best way to increase the width and height of a scanned image is to scan the image in at a high resolution (about twice what your final resolution should be), and with the Resample Image box unchecked, decrease the resolution or increase the width and height — both will yield similar results. Once the image width and height is where you want it, you can then check the Resample Image box and type in the resolution you want. At this point, as long as you don't increase resolution, or width and height, your image quality will not suffer.
  5. The resolution is such that enlarging them would only distort. See att'd "resolution" info. Don't know if it's possible to change the pixel count or dpi on an existing file.
  6. ummmmmmm.... now what'd I do with my sunglasses..???? HOLY SUFFERIN SUCCOTASH BILLY! There's a motor sikle painted on that wall!!!
  7. Nnoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yyeeesssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. impressive!! and a good indication of what's to come in the next generation of RSV's I think
  9. hmmmmmmm... I'll have to look into that....frankly tho, I'm skeptical (as I usually am LOL)
  10. I don't know anything about that... I have insurance coverage...they will pay me out if it's not recovered within I think 28 days or if it's recovered and it's a write-off. The problem is, since it's an older truck (1996), I'll have to fight with them over what they will pay. They are notorious for low-balling. A few years ago my g/f at the time had her car rear ended and it was a write off (1993 Taurus). Insurance offered only $1800 but she couldn't come close to replacing it for that... we fought with them for a month and got another $800. In the meantime, I qualify for a rental vehicle... max $40/day up to a max of $800.
  11. Thanks for that info Buddy... I'll certainly be looking into that option. I didn't realize it was an "adjustable" thing... heck, I drive down the street on my son's Sportster and set alarms off all over the place LOL
  12. Although I am upset about this, I'm a firm believer of "things happen for reasons" and I always look to the positive. As for something less costly, we sold our Aveo (a gas mizer) and bought this truck because of 2 reasons... a) no more car payments (we paid cash for the truck from the proceeds of the sale of the Aveo) and b) a truck is much more useful to us than the Aveo was. We rarely drive any distances other than with the scoot so the added fuel costs are minimal and well worth the usefulness of a truck. I have lived in this area (Vancouver) for 7 years now. This is the second time since coming here that I've had my vehicle stolen. My last vehicle (ironically, the same kind of truck and the same color) got broken into a month after I moved here and stolen less than a year after. It was recovered with minimal damage but then got broken into again about a year after that. Both times it was broken into were attempts to steal it. I will for sure be installing an immobilzer onto my next vehicle but I really can't stand those noisy alarms and don't believe they are much more of a deterrent than a club...if anything, they do not much more than annoy people coz the slightest thing can cause them to go off.
  13. Not my scoot... my truck!.. some SOB stole it. Parked it on the street this morning near where we catch the skytrain to downtown for work (as we always do). Got back at the end of the day... hmmmmmmmm... where's the truck?.. call the wife... "where did we park?" I say... yep... that's where I thought it was too... but it ain't there! Call the cops, check with towing co... definately it's been stolen!!! Even had a steering wheel club on it. GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! The inconvenience of this and extra costs involved might end up costing us our holiday trip to Los Osos waaaaaa Have an appointment with the insurance co Thursday... depending on what they'll give us for it...worst case scenario might have to sell the scoot just to replace the truck. One rarely comes out of these ahead of the game...especially when dealing with this govn't insurance rip-off specialists.
  14. Sometimes I have to crank the volume way up on mine to hear it ..... then I realize I bumped the mute button!
  15. Such "high tech"... I just get off and go push the pedestrian walk button.
  16. OK... now I gone done and drooled all over my keyboard!!! Gawd that looks gOOd !
  17. Ditto on what Don says... but, I've been down to California a couple times and found I had to put some Octane Booster in otherwise the pinging was so bad I thought the engine was coming apart.
  18. I like those "wash mitts" ....
  19. Yep, I saw your scoot ... mine is the black 1st gen to the left (in the pic) of the one with the etchings... Nina's standing by it. That black RSMV one is owned by morrell69 (Dave). Too bad we didn't connect ... oh well, another day eh? I'd like to get another meet 'n eat going for later on in June.
  20. Weather couldn't be better! Appx 1000 bikers showed up. Police escort from the Harley shop all the way out to Port Moody. Rode to Sasquatch park at Harrison Lake...lunch there...then to Cultis Lake (poker run stop)...via the back roads to Fraser downs in Cloverdale for the wrapup celebrations. BBQ burgers, beer, live band, ... this was the first annual Ride for Dad and by all accounts, a huge success! Excluding corporate donations, the bikers alone raised over $100,000. Not sure what the total raised was with corporate donations but I know of at least a $5000 and a $10,000 donation! I didn't see many of our local VR members (from this site) ... some of you were there. Only saw one other 1st gen .... there were by my count 5 2nd gen's. but in amongst 1000 bikes, I "might" have missed one or two LOL. Pics didn't turn out so great...wife's daughter had been using the camera and must have mucked with some of the settings but here some of them are... (The guy kneeling on the ground next to me & Nina was fixing a bad oil leak on his relatively new Harley Ultra ... he'd had it in at the shop the day before for servicing and whoever did it, didn't tighten the drain plug properly. Gotta watch out for crap like that...I'll bet he'll have a few choice words for that shop)
  21. Same thing happened to me and I was concerned at first. Assurances from others on here were that I just needed to wiggle the driveshaft some and it would slide in...and it did! Depending on the angle of the u-joint yoke may cause it to be more difficult. Seems I recall reading somewhere in here about using a wire or something to adjust it.
  22. Ubuntu is probably the easiest version of Linux a "novice" user could test out. I say go for it .... I use OpenSUSE myself but have tested and experimented with Ubuntu and it's variants, Red Hat, and a couple of the others.
  23. I can't comment on that hookup arrangement; however, I recently got an XM receiver for $30 and with the subscription of $15/month (that's the highest rate coz I only took it for 3 months), I get somewhere around 150 channels and I think it's great! the XM receiver communicates with the built-in stereo via an FM channel and the antenna is a very small device that sits on my dash, barely noticeable.
  24. yep... been there ... done that one too! and yep.... had a good laff
  25. If you put it in front of me... I'll eat it!
