heh... in a world of mechanical and electrical devices, NOTHING is ever PERMANENT ! But, if this stuff continues to hold, it's saving me a bundle in the interim. Just means more CHROME for the new scoot yeeeaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to post this followup in case anyone else out there is considering using this product. It's been almost 10 month's since I put in the Thermagasket and still no leaks. I ran it for a couple month's before I flushed it and installed regular antifreeze. We don't put a lot of miles on this truck but we drove it to Calgary and back when we hauled our new '06 RSMV home ... no cooling issues at all but I do notice that the 180 thermostat is a bit low for decent heat during the winter.

Mine (1996 Dakota with a V8) has 296000 kms (that's 184,000 miles) ... I have no idea if the tranny has been redone or replaced. The PO had the fluid changed just before I bought it (almost a year ago) by one of those machines that suc the old out and put the new in (no pan dropping or filter changing)...not a good idea! The guy who fixed it for me said it didn't look like the pan had been off for a very long time. The tranny went out on my last truck (a '94 Dakota) and it cost me 3 grand! It had about 230,000 km's at that time. I sure hope this one hold out!

....and never trust the first estimate you get on your tranny problems. My truck all of a sudden would only start out in top gear. I could manually shift it, starting in 1st..then to 2nd, etc but put it in drive and that's where it would start off...3rd gear. Took it to a shop...(big, national company) they told me I needed a new computer to the tune of almost $900 plus labor to install and they charged me $100 to diagnose using some fancy-dancy diagnostic equipment. yeahsureright...I wasn't born yesterday! Took it to another (smaller) shop. Guy didn't need any fancy diagnostic equipment...he said "I know exactly what's wrong"...explained it to me..gave me a ballpark estimate of around $400 and I let him fix it. Turned out to be internal...the governor solenoid and the transducer..both which affect what gear the tranny starts out in. Works like a charm now! Total cost including tranny fluid, new filter, gasket, etc...$451.00 ooops ... didn't mean to hijack!

Tying into battery - How?

Thanks a bunch! That's very good! -
heh... well, you're so close to the source, you could almost pump it out of the ground!

last Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the temps have been hovering around 10 celcius for the daytime highs. Couple of those days we had some sunshine but mostly it's been cloudy...very little rain. I was out riding most of the afternoon last Sunday and I played hooky from work Tuesday to go riding (shhhhhh don't tell my boss!). Starting Thursday, the temps have been dropping a bit and today thru the weekend it's gonna be raining with highs around 5 celcius. I think I've taken my last ride for this season so, insurance is coming off the scoot today (saves me $150 a month!) Speaking about gas prices... I gassed up the truck Thursday and the pump price for regular was 84.6 cents a litre ... that's about $3.20 a US gallon ... woooooooooo cheap cheap cheap.. haven't seen prices that low for a dog's age!

A Christmas Story for people having a bad day: When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure. Then Mrs Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where. Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered. Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom. Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?' And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

We had 1027 riders here in Vancouver last year and raised $101,300 ... ya'd think I would have gone and had my checkup then but no, I continued procrastinating..one thing led to another and one tends to forget ... and then a little "reminder" goes off in yer head ... and you say "I'm gonna do it this week" and before ya know it.... it's 2 month's later. (I'm slapping myself here...) -
Brian... did you see that other one...the one that looks like a "fork-jack" that is advertised? ... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=278070#post278070

When I'm following someone and pulling out to pass (at night), I will be running on low beam and will flick my high beam on then off real quick to indicate my intention (it's a common practise around here). As I'm out beside the person I'm passing and about even with their side-view mirror, I will turn on my high beam soas to see the road sufficiently beyond their vehicle. Generally at that time, the person I'm passing will dim their lights soas not to blind me once I'm in front. Now, if I had "passing lamps", where exactly do they come into this scenario?

Jim...first of all let me wish you a speedy and full recovery. Secondly, ... well, let me just say I have been procrastinating for WAYYYY too long now and your post has essentially "kicked mah butt" into gear. I have the appropriate paperwork to go to the lab for tests.... just haven't done it. I WILL ON SATURDAY and I mean this coming Saturday, not "one of the ones next year" like I've been doing. Thanks! -
If these are passing lamps, why are they mounted higher up rather than down low? Is the beam of these lights condusive to a passing lamp or a driving lamp? (I've not used them so have no idea) Just because some "yokel" at Yamaha labels them as "Passing Lamps" does not necessarilly mean they aren't "Driving Lights". Can we puhleeze get a clarification on this LOL btw...I believe Harley calls them "running lights"...go figgure...now we have a 3rd name for them LOL
