It's just plain good practise to carry a small set of tools...I've never gone out riding without any tools..thankfully I rarely have needed them. They're just a little bit of "visible" insurance LOL

it could be that the lights are wired directly to the high or low beam circuit... congrats on acquiring the scoot... now where are those PIC???

I used to hang out there on a regular basis when I was single... never saw a time when the music wasn't good although sometimes it's better than others. Saw Jim Byrnes there once..that was awesome! 'nuther group I once knew quite well called Dog Skin Suit ( http://www.dogskinsuit.com/ ) out of Kelowna played there and I hung out with them for the evening...I spent a lot of time with them when I lived in Kamloops and went to their gigs there and in Kelowna. Kinda lost track of them over the last couple years. BTW... Happy B/Day!!!

Nina & I have booked a room at a downtown hotel. It's close to the Yale blues nightclub ( http://theyale.ca/ ) where we plan to party hardy till the wee hours of the morning (well that might be a bit of an exaggeration LOL ). This night out was an xmas gift from Nina to me so we've been excited about this weekend arriving for quite a while. I have a feeling I'll be "paying" come Sunday (and Monday and maybe even Tuesday LOL but it will be worth it).

Not a bad idea ... also, while cruisin thru the 2nd gen accessories, I notice that ads go back as far as Oct 2006....?? one would think a time limit for an ad to appear should be in order coz by now, the person probably has sold it...unless it's a special item like the lift adapter that is "manufactured".

My LED lightbar cost $5.50 to ship from Signal dynamics ... go figgure eh!
-
Good idea .... where in Blaine should they ship it to? (dumb question I know) but I have no clue and I'm not even blond! LOL
-
Now Lutz... don't even get me started about the "IBM" guys .... LOL I could rant a few pages.....

I'm pretty sure it was USPS. I got my LED bar for the back from somewhere out of the US and there were no taxes added. The amount I mentioned was the total charge against my CC so I'm not expecting any further fees. I haven't ordered a lot of stuff out of the US but what I have, I don't recall any taxes added...if there were, it was minimal. As mentioned above, the shipping cost was $45 and that's stated right on their "check-out" screen. I did hesitate a bit over that but I knew that all-in-all, it would still be cheaper than buying local. Now, I know there's folks who'd pounce on me for not supporting local merchants and all that but dang! ... if the pricing was more reasonable in comparison, why would a person want to go outside the local area in the first place? Hey... it's a "free-trade" continent LOL
-
By ordering online from Star Yamaha, I saved a total of $48.85. Their price was $139 plus coin plus $45 shipping and then there's the exchange rate...brought it to a total of $226.36 To buy it locally, it's $272.21 taxes included. Frankly, the base price difference that we have to pay up here for such things is nothing short of a RIP-OFF ... IMHO. If I was down in Seattle, I could have picked it up and saved over $100. (less the exchange rate of course ) plus the taxes.

That's a very good point and didn't even occur to me. We don't have this happen very often and the only one's who do are either from the Provincial Government or from IBM .... not that that says anything LOL!

Symantec was here when I started this position so I just kept going with it mostly because I could get the virus defs free and we'd long since stopped paying any annual maintenance fees. I've had lots of bad experiences with Symantec both on personal PC installs as well as in corporate environments. I'm not going there again. I should mention that whatever I do install will be a "secondary - this side of the firewall" AV protection. Our firewall has pretty good protection that we do subscribe to annually so I might be able to get away with something like Avast on the workstations but it will also have to be able to be centrally managed from a server and protect our servers as well and the updates must come to that one server. The majority of our workstations do not have internet access.

Sears Motorcycle/ATV Jack
SilvrT replied to dlhoulton's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
heh... makes me think of a jack I was looking at in Princess Auto... it was a display unit...there was oil all around the base of the hydraulics... lol ..sure makes for a godd "selling job"! haha Wonder why nobody makes a good screw jack for the bikes. My jack that comes with my truck is one of the best screw jacks I've seen...so easy to use and has no problem lifting the whole front end of the truck off the ground. hmmmm...wonder if I can modify it for the scoot?????- 26 replies

Sears Motorcycle/ATV Jack
SilvrT replied to dlhoulton's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Aside from the fact that it's black and chrome, it's much the same as the "red" one at Sears and our Canadian Tire sells the identical thing. Canadian Tire price is $119 CDN and generally goes on sale in the spring for around $79 bucks. I'm waiting for that!- 26 replies

I realize this ain't bike related but I know some of you work in the corporate IT field and am hoping to get some guidance / feedback. As many of you know, I am the "network admin" at my company. We are running an out-dated version of Symantec Antivirus. It's a corporate version centrally managed on a server. While the software is out of date, I can still get updated virus definitions but I'm feeling a bit "insecure" about it. I'm wondering what ya'll are using in your corporate environment ... pro's/con's ... any info you can give me. I prefer not to again use Symantec or McAfee.

Sears Motorcycle/ATV Jack
SilvrT replied to dlhoulton's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks Dennis... but I believe that's a US site... the Canadian site doesn't show them (at least I haven't found them). Pls correct me if I'm wrong but if I'm right, those prices being in US currency just don't compete with other outlets such as Canadian Tire up here for essentially the same product. We're at close to 20 cents on the dollar exchange rate so, $120 jack would cost me $144 (plus or minus) and shipping.- 26 replies

I seem to be the bearer of not so good news lately!
SilvrT replied to sarges46's topic in Watering Hole
Sorry to hear this about Pete. It kindof "brings home" that we shouldn't pass up an opportunity to meet up with those whom we've come to know on this site when that opportunity presents itself. I had that opportunity 2 yrs ago..to meet Pete...but it was just a "little" out of my way en route to Biggar, SK. I regret not taking the time. Glad to hear though that Pete is still with us and I may get that opportunity again. Pete... wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery. -Rick -
OH gawd... here comes the 1st gen / 2nd gen bashing again... hahahaha cabin fever syndrome or PMS is rampant.... c'mon warm weather... we need some healing!!

I forgot to mention that cooking is one of my hobbies...in fact, it's a form of "therapy". When I get home from work, nothing (except riding the scoot) relaxes me more than banging back a few rum & cokes and cooking up a great meal... oh yeah... there's the eating part too! heh heh
