PM sent!! Dave -
Glad to see you getting out and riding already. Beautiful country in it own way. Years ago, when they let you tour the dam, we went through it and down to the river outlet area. You could feed the trout - there were some huge fish hanging out there. Dave

Glad you're there safe!! Welcome to the snow today. You may get to ride a bit next week though. Dave

I sometime get tired of how quickly the trunk becomes a mess on a trip. Last year at the Roundup in Cody, Iowawegian (Gary and Deb) had some pouches in the trunk that allowed them to keep things where they could get them easily. I liked that!! I've been looking online for something that would go in my '86, with no luck. So, last night I decided to do something..... I took a piece of Lexan I had in the garage and cut two pieces to fit the width, height and curvature of the trunk bottom. I used adding machine tape rolls as spacers and with four bolts to hold it together. A little stick on velcro to hold it in place to the rear of the trunk but still allow it to be removed. (I was going to install only the rolls as spacers but Jan reminded me of how often we or someone asks if someone has a piece of paper and pen, so I left it on to use up on the road) This isn't everything I would want but in the mean time it creates two pockets in the back corners and three more between the plastic to help hold things in place and there is still room for my helmet inside. http://s470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/86%20Venture%20Rt%20Faring/?action=view¤t=IMG_0684.jpghttp://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/86%20Venture%20Rt%20Faring/IMG_0684.jpg Dave

Avoid I-70 west of Denver. It's closed due to a rock slide.

The Roundup for 2010 is planned for Sept 13-17. Plan to be a bit low key but fun all the same. Dave

Post your route if you get the chance. Dave

It's probably just what you know. Living here you get use to when and where to go and not to go. You're welcome to come by anyway.

Salt Lake City!! You're 4 - 4.5 hours to Moab and another 3 to Durango. Should be a reasonable place to stay, we have pretty good rates! Dave

Lines 15-20 is the same route I'm planning to take. You have a place to crash in SLC!! Dave

I agree it's BS!! The Dunlops on Jan's bike and the Metzlers on mine were just fine and were stored side by side. Dave

My son had the same issue last year on his '82 Silverwing. They said is was due to the tire sitting on cold concrete during the winter. We now place some old carpeting under the tires during the off season. Avon didn't care much about the mileage that was on the tire. They refused to warrantee the tire based on how long it had been on the bike (18 months). I wish you luck!! Dave

Three months at the Gorge and then to Colorado, you'll start out with cold weather now but will have a have some great riding before you go home. I look forward to hear your plans. Do you know where you'll be living? I have some friends that ride the area and live in Vernal. I'm sure that would love to have you join them. Dave

Toronto to Las Vegas July 3 to 25th any route suggestions or sights
utadventure replied to dogman's topic in Watering Hole
Beartooth and Yellowstone are both great!!! Coming from Yellowstone to Las Vegas will take you down I-15 and Zions National Park is just off the freeway a little in southern Utah. Swing by on your way through. Dave -
You may still be running into cold and some snow in March. I'd bring the bike, especially if you'll have access to a vehicle while here. There are some beautiful areas to ride in what we call the Uintah basin, as well as Colorado and Wyoming. If you're coming through SLC, please let us know. Dave
