Sleeperhawk's New Instrument Panel Installation

Used Oatey Great White Pipe Joint Compound with PTFE. The Teflon Tape was just not sealing well at all with the joint going into the water jacket. First use of the Oatey had a very tiny leak, but still there, then I got to thinking maybe I should let this stuff set a while, so pulled it back out, cleaned and re-doped it again, and let it set for about 1 hour. This stuff is working very well now. Still would like to try the fitting that the business did not have in stock due to the very tight clearance issues both sides and top. But I am happy with the final product. Now I just have to find me an MP3 player , almost as useless as the tape deck. :rotf:- 45 replies

Well, you got your choice of two groups converging on us. One group coming down on I95, the other on I77, both groups arriving here Friday afternoon/evening. Or just call and I will come get you when you get to Columbia.
-
Why would they even think about taking 129? If they were going to use I40 to begin with, then go to I81 then I26 back to I40 or US74 through Maggie Valley to bypass the slide.

Now why slam a guy when he is not here to defend himself :no-no-no: Now I was thinking the dog made more sense than Mini :rotf:

Sleeperhawk's New Instrument Panel Installation

First, Ponch sent me the primer version of the strip. Second, bought the 3 cans of spray paint at Autozone, very black but shiny, then the darkest gray they had (shiny), then a can of clearcoat. The rest was Pecker's idea. Sprayed with black, then wet sand with 2000 grit, did this about 4 times. Here is the secret took a Walmart bag, wadded it up tightly, sprayed the gray on the bag, then dabbed the metal plate all over, let it dry, wet sand with 2000, then did all over again. Then sprayed with clearcoat, wet sanded, sprayed again, about 3 times. It is close, but not quite. But I thank all who liked the job I did. Took about a week, the spray paint dries quickly. :cool10:- 45 replies

Well, since my bike was taking up the garage and it started to rain while Ted was getting a car tire mounted :no-no-no:, Pecker and I took pity on his bike and covered it up. For shame, For shame. :rotf:- 45 replies

Well I was going to use the Equus gauges, even tapped them to fit the very sort Allen head bolts that I had in stock, but after cutting the holes in the cassette slot, put the gauges on the new plate, started to put into slots, but would not fit with the holes that were created because of the creramic nut they use, makes the gauges wider than 1.5 and I said the heck with them, I was not going to cut bigger holes, went to Autozone and got the Sunpro gauges. Ponch, so thanks for taking my call about the Equus gauges and the bracket setup.

He has other plans for another toy. Now he can get the RSTD in Sumter since is he going SOLO.
-
Hey Ponch I bought the Equus gauges, but after seeing your instructions, I now understand your brackets will not work as designed. Not sure what holes have to be opened and how you are slotting the mounting brackets. Especially since the Equss gauge has ceramic piece that screws Here are some pics of your bracket and faceplate with the Equss gauge

Khromewerks muffler baffles
Sleeperhawk replied to foundryratjim's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Also, Khromewerks has packing material, but I now have over 60000 on my Khromewerks, but so far not repacking. We like the sound. -
Yes, but since Freebird won't tell you, neither will I. :rasberry:

He is trying to sell what he has in stock most likely. The MV85HB for the E3 is what you want for the rear.

A chat room full women is never a place for a guy to hang in, just asking for trouble. :stirthepot:

As stated lots of times here about Avons, once you get to the wear bar, there is not much rubber left in the center. If the price for the E3 includes mounting the tire not bad at all, but if not seem pretty expensive since I paid only 125 for the rear from Motorcycle Super store last year. I like the E3, but I like the softer feel of the Avons. The E3 does last longer by 2 or 3 thousand miles.

I would like to have one of those too, but the $400 price tag scared me off. Maybe at the end of the year when they start discounting helmets I will get one.
