  1. Mine sticks at 1/4 tank.......then drops to zero on occasion. Not real crazy about the digital bar gas guage. Just one of the things I do not care for on the bike. I really think Yamaha missed the boat on the guage set up or lack there of on the Venture.
  2. Oh you guys just cannot let it go. No new Ventures anytime soon. The fairing in the pic looks ALOT like the Voyager. Personally, that thing looks worse than a Victory. Not as bad as a Goldwing and a far cry from having the styling of a Harley or an Indian. Looks like cah cah to me.
  3. Your going to like the Nissan quality. I had a 2002 Nissan Xterra Supercharged SCSE. Loved it. Our 2007 Toyota 4Runner......best vehicle I have ever owned. It has 167,000 miles on it and the only thing I have had to replace other than tires is 2 sets of headlight bulbs, battery, just replaced the front wheel bearings about 6k miles ago and the brakes lasted until 130,000 miles. I have had numerous GM products, Ford and Chrysler. All new and none of them had the quality of the "imports". We bought a 2015 Kia Sorento fully loaded last year, it was actually the first one in Michigan. Worked with the dealer and Kia to custom order from the factory in Georgia. The exterior color and interior color combo was not available, so they let us order it the way we wanted. Took 6 weeks to get it. AAA had to generate the insurance codes for it to insure it. Love the thing. I like that new body style of the Murano.......my ride has 167K on it............hmmmmmmm............
  4. Replace those slug d404's with a set of E3's. Go to a slightly narrower tire on the front and you will notice a world of difference in ride AND low speed handling.
  5. Once Indian offers the Roadmaster in the color I want, I am going to sell my RSV and buy one of those.
  6. I can already see where this thread is headed.
  7. Freebird and I did the 1500 in 36 hours 2 years ago. I had a great time, but it is not for the faint of heart. That is a lot of riding. I did 19 hours straight in the saddle (2 1/2 before picking up Don) before we got our 3 hours of sleep and back on the road. I left my house at 2:30 am on Saturday morning, made it to Freeebird's in Oberlin by 6am we were on the road by 6:30 am and did not stop for sleep until after 10pm that night after we went through Atlanta. Back up at 2:30am and back on the road. I was home at 2:45pm Sunday. Grand total for me was 1745 miles in 35 hours 45 minutes. Unfortunately I lost all my gas receipts so I cannot turn it in for my patch.
  8. Honestly after that remark that particular member made........if it were me, with my crappy attitude.....I would have deleted the ad AND that member and sent him a refund......prorated for time left. Don my friend, you handled it well. You and all of your efforts are truely appreciated.
  9. My 07 RSV has Samson 30" turn outs. I added baffles and packing in the front end of the pipes. Brought it down to a nice tone. I like to hear the pipes bark, I like the fact that cages hear me coming. If I wanted peace and quiet I would either ride a Goldwing (never) or just ride in a cage.
  10. No pics available, circa mid 70's Honda CT70 then a few years later a Kawaski KM100.
  11. I got my room for $89 so I do not know about that group rate. You may want to check that out.
  12. Jay............you just ain't right in the head. Don, I never saw any bashing from you. I do however see you taking a good lashing about your Harley. But, you take I tall in stride my friend. If I would have had any issue with a Harley, you and I would not have done that loooooooong ride down to Atlanta and back. Which, by the way....we need to do another ride again. I have no issues with you or anyone here. Spirited conversation does go on from time to time amongst us members, but in the end, I do not think that anyone here would leave a fellow member sitting along side the road no matter how mad they were at that member. You provide an awesome forum for us at a VERY reasonable price. I have been a member for 4 years I do believe and will be for many more to come. Keep up the great job, we all appreciate it and I look forward to seeing you at Maintainence Day!
  13. Thanks guys. Not sure what I am going to do just yet. I have been thinking about HID lights. I may do this and see what happens. I already have a voltmeter on the bike, but Cowpuc brought up a good point about the amp meter. May have to squeeeeeeeze anoth guage on the dash!
  14. I was wondering if I should upgrade my stock stator in my 07 RSV. I am running the stock accessories, but I also run a gps and satellite radio. Now I am adding Gerbing heated gloves and jacket liner into the mix. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  15. Cowpuc.......you may want to read this entire article about slab city. Not a safe or very nice place to live. Slab City California | Atlas Obscura
  16. Ohhh Tennessee...me likey that state a lot. You may have a permanent house guest................................
  17. Bluesky...I road the v-twin 1700. Loved it. I personally cannot stand a Goldwing. I just do not like the style of the bike. Nothing wrong with them, darn good bike. Just not my cup of tea.
  18. Big Lenny...sorry I misread. I thought you called them. I do like the Roadmaster...............ALOT. Just do not like the price tag. Once I get the speaker lids and Stage 2 exhaust, lower windshield and other go faster items....it is pushing the 32k price. That is a lot of coin for a bike. In stock form with D404 tires the Venture is a pig at low speed handling. I switched to a little narrower front tire, went to E3's, lowered the front end by pushing the forks up 7/8" in the trees. Handles pretty good. I had the leveling links on, which raise the rear end and puts more pressure on the front tire making it turn better, but I prefer to have my feet flat on the ground. Now with the links out and the front dropped, I can stand and have about an inch clearance between the goods and the seat. I would think that if the bike rides good, tracks correctly and does not sound like it has squirrels in the clutch, it should be a decent bike. I doubt the guy that traded it in was the first owner. Like I said, he may have not liked the bike like he thought he would and got something different. I road the Voyager 3 years ago on a nice looooong test ride. I loved it. Came real close to buying one and selling the Venture.
  19. Jay, I would not sell the primary residence. One thing to keep in mind...if something should happen to you, what is Jeannie going to do? Will she be able to handle driving the rv? Would she be willing to live in it without you? Just something to consider. I know someone that sold their house and bought a big rv. He ended up passing away and she could not drive it. Their daughter ended up flying to the location and driving it back. Then the wife took a major loss on the rig trying to sell it to get someplace to live. Food for thought my friend.
  20. 1st off the dealer had no right giving out the previous owners phone number without asking first. He was probably ticked off when you called. I know I would be. As far as owning it for a month....maybe he found something nicer. Realized that the Venture handles like a slug at low speeds compared to other bikes. I love my bike, but if I would have road the Kawasaki Voyager first, that is what would be in my garage. I am actually considering selling my 07 venture and picking up either a new old stock Voyager or just plunging down the cash on a new Indian Roadmaster. Ventures ARE nice bikes, but there are nicer rides out there.
  21. John, sounds good. I just booked a room there for that Friday night. I will be coming home Saturday evening.
  22. John, not sure when your going down, maybe you, Jay, Larry and I can get together and ride down like we did 2 years ago.
  23. Oberlin Inn has no rooms for that Friday night the 29th. That is the only night I would be spending. I called twice to make sure. I know others have stayed at other motels, anyone care to suggest one or two?
  24. Ruined the bike. But at least it was only a Goldwing.
