  2. One more thing,The Metz did handle good but NOTHING like the Avons do..Today I scraped the hwy pegs I was in a curve so tight..( They are mounted pretty high up)I usually ride VERY conservative but I was following some guys and really didnt feel I was that far over but they hug sooo good.I had Dunlop 404s originally but didnt like the way they handled when I happened across a newly tore up road that had Grooves cut in it..They followed the grooves and scared me..The Avons for some reason do not,I dont know why.
  3. Ive never run them but a friend had them and didnt get much mileage on them....I had Metzlers 880,kept the correct pressure in them but they started chunking rubber after 1700 miles,so went back to Avon Venoms..I personally will never run ANYTHING else but Avons. Some people on here have had good luck with Metz but I will never again use them.
  4. And a Happy New Year to All you Guys Down Under!

  11. I hope the guys I met when I took off riding today looks in on the site. They were getting gas at the Shell station in Blanco. I dont have any VentureRider.ORG cards so I just told them about the site and hope the guys look in. I was late meeting up with other guys going riding today in the Hill Country and know I should have invited them along but as a guy I have to admit I have blinders on whenever I am late I only can focus on one thing! Anyway it was a BEAUTIFUL day..70 degrees not a cloud in the sky,no wind, very sunny.. took off 45 degrees then 70 by noon,,,,NO WHERE BUT TEXAS for December weather!
  12. Well if you dont like noises Id say do not buy it. MOST of the time it does not bother me but sometimes you dwell on it and it is slight but works on you. I love my bike and would probably buy another but it seems they could get the whine out...They say it is the straight cut gears but I dont know. Now nearly all the bikes Ive ridden have some kind of quirk so Try and find someone close that has a 2nd Gen and ride it. Tom
  13. Merry Christmas to you ALL over there! Without guys like you our freedom would not be..Thanks from the bottom of our hearts! Tom And Debby
  14. I was really starting to worry about Redneck.Have not seen him in awhile, had sent an email to him ..Finally I see he is OK
  15. You probably can sell it someday but there are beginning to be alot of Harleys a lot newer around at least this area going for 9500..I have a friend that had a 05 Heritage and listed it for 15000...Ended up unloading it for 10K as there are so many for sale around these parts. That does not mean they are bad bikes, just the market is saturated with guys that bought them and realized that they are not really into motorcycles.I think its a change of life thing but I am no psychologist just a truck driver....which is kind of a bad thing as we have to much time to think.
  16. Bruce or ANYONE,what town and zipcode to send a card? Tom
  17. Well dont know if its any interest to you but with what I see you have done, Sams is going to buid a distribution center beside our Wal Mart Distribution WHSE here in New Braunfels,Texas. Here is a link where I buy my stuff..25% off...Theses thingd REALLY work! Tom http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/catalogs/detail/26/207/407/3664/1/0/0/1/4/90/69/35535/tinted-lower-wind-vents.aspx
  19. Let me know how it all turns out as I may block off my AIS..or come see you guys and buy dinner and learn a few things this summer.Tom
  20. I am one of the computer illiterate..I have done it but cant explain it so hang on a while and someone can explain it to you. I cant even get my weather banner to come up for Blanco , Texas so I will wait till I get Buddyrich out this way ..I know he knows how! Tom
  21. Kit,You are SO right..I check my tire pressure before and after ALL my rides and I had them correct at all times. We had a guy blow one out North of Junction on a ride last year that nearly killed him and his wife. While I will not tell anyone what tire to run I will give the hands on knowledge that I personally know of them. Usually in life I will give things a " 3 times and you are out" test...That does NOT apply to a motorcycle tire I am riding on. I am glad the others are watching there tires closely and if nothing else MAYBE these posts will make ALL aware of Any tires they are on and keep a close eye on all of them. Again, just my 3 cents worth now! Tom
  22. It works on windows media player...Is that a popping noise when you let off?A friend of mine put them on and after 3 carb syncs we finally got it out.Tom
  23. Hey Bruce..CONGRATS! Bring her down to see us! I called Debby to let her know!Tom Hows Gary?
  24. DITTO..I got 1700 miles on mine and when i examined cose on the rear tire I saw chunks starting to eat out from the tread and I am too scared to have that happen. Also wife said the Metz produced alot of heat from the rear and each time I felt of them thet were so HOT I could hardly touch them. Just my 2 cents..Avons are back on and HAPPY!
  25. Im right in the middle of it in OKC driving my Truck, but down for the night... be glad to get my dogfood and head back to Texas in the morning!
