:sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that::sign yeah that: Oh, and I wear a High-viz jacket (so does my passenger), have headlamp + Passing-lamps, 32LED tail-lamp with 15" light-bar mounted between helmet holders and always always always always drive like everyone is going to cut me off, pull out in front of me, run me over, and/or cannot see me. I always make sure I have a 'way out' of any situation - and if I find myself in some setup that I do not, then I get there as quickly as possible. NEVER drive tired, distracted or inebriated. Etc... Most of all, I try to plan on taking the safest routes to places (where I know there will be lots of traffic) My methods are far from perfect, but I have not had an incident with another vehicle for the 10 years I've been riding When the day comes that I do have an incident; I pray that I'll be on 1-up and that I can walk away from it NOTE: Picture 1 was right after sunset, Picture 2 was about noon - note that it is still reflective.

Let us know when they come in

:thumbsup2: That's pretty cool. I know that I took advantage of anytime my family offered to take me for a ride... or were around with their bikes - all through growing up (several of my uncles and my grandfather) and I certainly enjoyed each and every one of them. That being said, much of my love for riding has grown because of those rides - even the 'quick' ones

Glad to hear you've got a reasonable representative on your side of this I suppose that there is a slight possibility you having some issues by discussing the details of your conversations on this open forum. But, unless it was explicitly stated at some point that ya'll were having a privileged conversation or that YOU were being dishonest in anyway to the service manager, Yamaha or whatever. On the other hand, keeping everything under your hat until a resolution is reached probably couldn't hurt. So, I guess I could stop being nosy...
-
I certainly understand them wanting the bike to be worked on, by them, since they do not seem to be playing the 'you touched it so it is not Yamaha's problem' card, and who knows - maybe the dealer actually cares about trying to make this right. I did not even think about the insurance/liability issue there. They ought to and probably do have some blanket insurance coverage for a situation like yours; especially if the dealership owns a trailer that is used for hauling bikes. But, It will be interesting to see what they say about it. When does your insurance go back on? -- It would be a shame to miss out on some good riding weeks due to them monkeying around with this business... but I guess if you can get a reasonable solution, then it would be worth it.

Hehe. Sounds like if you hold out long enough, they might do this and it won't cost you a dime! Unfortunately it has already cost you some time...

Glad everything went well... Make sure she doesn't try to rush anything with the recovery, and of course, stick to that physical therapy schedule. I hope her recovery is complete

If you would like to be added or removed from this list - let me know via posting to this thread and I will do my best to stay on top of it. Thank you KiteSquid for taking care of this up to this point, what a terrific idea!! I hope this can keep going and continue to help people out. KiteSquid's original text, with rules (slightly adjusted in a few places for clarity and redundancy): There is three copies of Ride Like a Pro (RLAP) IV or V DVD's that are free for anybody who wants it. FREE, but they have to agree NOT to copy it, and to pass it along for FREE to the next person after a short viewing session.... maybe two weeks???? The sender pays the postage, NOT the recipient, so no money changes hands, this I think will keep it all legal!! To request to be put on this list, please post to this thread and you will be put on in order posted on my next visit to the thread. Please DO NOT PM me as you will only be put on the list if you post to this thread... My apologies if you got missed, just let me know and I will put you in the appropriate place. PLEASE Remember to post something you learned from the video. And again, I am not connected with RLAP, I just want my fellow bikers to have a long and healthy life on two wheels and anyway that we all can learn to ride safely is a good thing!!!!!! By the way, if you are tired of waiting, or would like to purchase your own copy please click HERE to order and be sure to ask for your Venture Rider Forum member discount. IIRC it saves you $5. BTW this DVD is worth every penny!!!!!!! The List: People who originally, freely gave away their copy of RLAP IV or V (Thanks a lot you guys!!) MOST IMPORTANTLY: 8) Ride safe **** Sample message to next person: Howdy: I have received a copy of "Ride Like a Pro" and you are the next on the list to receive it. (According to the list on: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...=24973&page=20 ) If you could let me know either way (whether you are still interested in viewing it or not) that would be appreciated. I will wait about a week before I contact the next person on the list. If someone else commits to it before you do (after the 1 week) then you will not lose your place on the list, but may not get it from me ~depending on whether I still have it or not. Just post in the thread (linked to above) that you would still like to view it and you can be next in line to get a copy. If you do want it, let me know and send me the address that you would like it sent to. I will send it first class mail when I am done with it (probably a week or so). Thanks a lot, - YOUR NAME HERE *******END sample message Thanks ya'll.

If Forrest approves that works for me. If someone else would like a can, I would be okay for just 2 (but won't argue with 3 if no one else speaks up). And I'd be happy to meet you wherever (of course, I'll have the cash); I will be around for the next couple of weeks. We can iron out the details if we get Forrest's approval
-
Let me/us know when you get it and we can work out the details I've been watching it too - and buying in bulk looks like the way to go.

Sounds good Thanks a lot!

For the record, THIS *points to self* 2nd gen rider will have no trouble seeing your license plates (even if you do whiz by). These 24 year old eyes still do okay

I am PUMPED. The mornings are starting to get a little brisk on my legs here Out of pure curiosity, how much time are you going to give folks to get back to you before you move on to the next one? Especially since you posted a few weeks ago requesting confirmation that people were still interested.

Although if someone donated a vehicle to me and the right water depth below... I might do that for fun

Unfortunately (or I suppose fortunately - in some cases) in situations like this, the only people that have the best chance of knowing the whole story are ONLY the folks that are investigating it. I have been involved in a few major incidents with the PD I used to work for, albeit nothing of this scale, and after all of the reports were submitted and the cases were closed - I was astonished at how the local media spun each of the stories into something that painted a picture of the situation that was far from being accurate. As others have stated, I do not care if she was the one that landed the final action that stopped the threat or if she was someone that corralled people to safety. ANYone involved (on the 'good' side) in situations like this are true heroes in my book. And of course, everyone currently serving or have served in our military; Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, National Guard, Coast Guard, the reserves, (my apologies if I left any one out); are heroes too. If it weren't for them working so hard to protect this wonderful country, who knows where we would be today.

When I am by my self I drive until I get tired, pull off at a rest area of some sort and use the picnic table(s). If weather is real bad, I'll get a cheap motel or something. And once every couple of days I'll get a cheap motel so I can shower, sleep well, etc. The last couple of trips I have made have been 2-up and she is a little more picky than I am about where we stop for the night... So, I'll keep my eye on this thread; lots of good info here

Depending on what you end up with left over - and who else by you wants some, I may be interested in a can or two... Keep me/us posted on how it goes and what you end up with 'left over'.

I agree that backups are, without a doubt, the best way to go in insuring that your data stays safe. There are various tools that can aid in the securing of data many good solutions in both onsite and offsite backups. Personally, I use a few different methods. I have an external hard drive that I copy stuff to at least once a week. I also have a file server that I store my work-related files on, which is completely separated from my system except for the network connection I use to push my files over to it. And lastly, I keep a CD backup of the files that I don't want to lose. My backup sequence is set to run automatcially - all I have to do is put in the CD (actually it is a DVD-RW), plug in my external HDD and activate my network connection and it does its thing. I disagree with the premise that one is bound to lose data regardless of the platform one uses but I do not think that this is the place to discuss that. I suppose that I should have been more clear with my initial statement of the data loss. With a Mac, when the drive 'fails to mount' or the OS decides that it is done working for you, the user has very few options in accessing the data on the drive. There have been a few builds of the Mac OS that have been notorious for these errors. I will not get into any other particulars with these unless someone really wants to hear about it. My apologies if my wording was unclear, my intent was not to 'bash' or 'put down' anyone and I should have been more clear with not only my initial statement but most likely this one here. Again, I maintain that Macs and PCs both have their own pros and cons. And the right choice for an individual is really up to that individual. Like I said, use the one that works best for you and I hope that you get many miles out of your choice.

Everyone bakes there data now and again. I prefer baked over fried... haven't you ever fried a pooter? In fact, I recall not too long ago YOU frying one up there.... Good catch, by the way... So much for me being a smart ***... Well, maybe what I was doing was setting it up for you Rick... yea, we'll go with that - it was planned.

As usual, great job with the video!
