Some good information about your oil
Hummingbird replied to DesertRider's topic in General Tech Talk
That is a good read, unfortunately for me - it's too long. Not that it's uninformative, quite the contrary, however, not being an engineer of any type, most of it is greek to me. I did glean a few particulars that were interesting - Thanks for posting -
Darrin, I'd let you ride my bike just to keep it in running order except that you are used to a 1st gen and I don't see how you could possibly handle the speed and comfort. Aarrrrggghh !!

I have a throttle boss, guess that's what it's called. has a velcro strap so it's easily adjustable. Not sure if I can use that as the only method, think I'll wait another week.

Aaaarrrrrgghh !!! except for can't ride, can't bend upper portion of thumb, still hurts like hell and tip is and always will be numb - I'm right back to normal

I stopped watching (wasn't a BIG fan anyway) when the old man slapped him and called him an idiot. Any respect for his abilities and everything else went out the window -

not gory - but here it is forgot to mention, doc said that if could stand it, leave it open and continue my daily activities. Being retired I told him that I HAD to have a light duty slip for my wife also, I have a newfound respect for the same table saw I've been using for 20 + years, imagine that ??

My visit yesterday was a positive one, I think He said everything was looking good and that the big black puffy bump on the tip of my thumb would eventually go away. The tendon is 'evidently' OK because I can move my upper joint He said that the nerve ending, the one that feels like a lingering 120 volts ac every time I accidently make contact, will (hopefully) go away. If not, he can surgically re-locate it. not a big deal, an out patient thing. The bad news to me was that he said I'm looking at in excess of 3 months before anything resembling normal is returned. Unfortunately, the nerve ending that has become troublesome is EXACTLY where my thumb hits the throttle. I could probably ride but when I hit that 'sweet' spot just eating or lounging, I jump till hell won't have it. Can't imagine what would happen on a bike ! The REAL good news is that I still have all my pieces/parts albeit not all that good but they're still mine.

I noticed when I rode a trike that the stress factor had nearly disappeared compared to riding 2 wheels. On a trike, the only thing you have to worry about is everybody else. The road conditions, curves, gravel in entry ways, oil slicks, tar snakes and so many more have very little if NO effect on a trike. Thus allowing a more enjoyable relaxed ride.

Trying to tie down my RSV on a U-Haul trailer
Hummingbird replied to workerbee13's topic in Trailer Talk
I have 18" soft ties that I use on the front and 16" on the back. the 18" ties give enough length to miss the polished aluminum deflectors.- 25 replies

flb 78 had it right about the plug patch - HOWEVER - I would be concerned about the position of the patch. Side walls flex an awful lot - I wouldn't be concerned at all if it were in the tread but the side wall ???

I've been to a lot of car/bike shows. If the crowd does the voting, whoever has the most friends at the show will win. If there are judges, again it'll usually be the hometown entrants. that win. Now I'm not sayin' anything, I'm just sayin'

Nice camper Monty - we had one several years ago, really beats a tent. congrats !!

most of the stains were on the saw, some behind me on the router table, all over my shirt along with what looked like saw dust, you know, little chunks of stuff. luck smiled upon me tho - didn't mess up any wood

I'm going camping with the travel trailer. Going to Arrow Point campground in Loudenville Ohio. We are going to be on site 24, a river front, it's kinda neat watching the canoes floating by. They start about 10 o'clock and by 2 or 3 in the afternoon, half if not more have had way too many bud lights or whatever. The good thing is that most of the river is shallow enough that if they just stand up they'll be fine, however, they still have a lot of trouble getting back in a canoe. It costs $30 a night to camp but the canoe entertainment is well worth it. If anybody is going to be in the area, stop by, I always have a Michelob Ultra for friends. Have a GREAT week end everybody !! I'll try to get some pics for Monday

Carl - I know I'm good but our several fleeting moments of conversation surely wouldn't allow for a complete deletion of your thought power as witness by the above post. However I must warn that there WILL be times when you have lapses of memory, remember when you walked from one room to another and forgot why you went there ? That was my lingering draw process - it will become common place, my best advise is to keep Marca close at hand to take notes for you as you will be needing them to guide you thru your daily tasks. One other thing - I implanted a yearning for a 2nd gen bike - be careful or you'll be looking for one before you think - err wait a minute -

:rotfl: Dano - you shouldn't do that to me - it still hurts when I laugh too hard, then I gotta take more meds - er wait a minute I just had a brain fart

For years it was believed that electric bulbs emitted light. However, recent information has proven otherwise. Electric bulbs do not emit light, they suck dark. Thus we will now call these bulbs dark suckers. The dark sucker theory, according to a spokesperson, proves the existence of dark, that dark has a mass heavier than light, and that dark is faster than light. The basis of the dark sucker theory is that electric bulbs suck dark. Take for example the dark suckers in the room where you are. There is less dark right next to them than it is elsewhere. The larger the dark sucker, the greater its capacity to suck dark. Dark suckers in a parking lot have a much greater capacity than the ones in this room. As with all things dark suckers don't last forever. Once they are full of dark they can no longer suck. This is proven by the black spot on a full dark sucker. A candle is a primitive dark sucker. A new candle has a white wick. You will notice that after the first use, the wick turns black, representing all the dark which has been sucked into it. If you hold a pencil next to the wick of an operating candle, the tip will turn black because it got in the way of the dark flowing into the candle. Unfortunately, today's primitive dark suckers have a very limited range. There are also portable dark suckers. These bulbs can't handle all of the dark themselves, and must be aided by a dark storage unit. When the dark storage unit is full, it must be either emptied or replaced before the portable dark sucker can operate again. Dark has mass. When dark goes into a dark sucker, friction from this mass generates heat. Thus it is not wise to touch an operating dark sucker. Candles present a special problem, as the dark must travel in the solid wick instead of through glass. This generates a great amount of heat. Thus it can be very dangerous to touch an operating candle. Dark is also heavier than light. If you swim deeper and deeper, you notice it gets slowly darker and darker. When you reach approximately fifty feet, you are in total darkness. This is because the heavier dark sinks to the bottom of the lake and the lighter light floats to the top. The immense power of the dark can be utilized to man's advantage. We can collect the dark that has settled to the bottom of lakes and push it through turbines which generates electricity and helps push dark to the ocean, where it may be safely stored. Prior to turbines, it was much more difficult to get dark from rivers and lakes to the ocean. The Indians recognized this problem and tried to solve it. When on a river in a canoe traveling in the same direction as the flow of dark, they paddled slowly, so as not to stop the flow of dark, but when they traveled against the flow of dark, they paddled quickly so as to help the dark along its way. Finally we must prove that dark is faster than light. If you were to stand in an illuminated room in front of a closed, dark closet, then slowly open the closet door, you would see the light slowly enter the closet, but since dark is so fast, you would not be able to see the dark leave the closet. In conclusion, it has been stated that dark suckers make our lives much easier, so the next time you look at an electric bulb, remember that it is indeed a dark sucker.

I used to rebuild antiques/collectables etc but then getting the furniture stripped in a timely/economical manner became impossible. A lot of our furniture is what I call pre-welfare era stuff. It's all oak and ash pieces that I saved from the wood pile. I also have more than several pieces that I built either because it was too expensive to buy or just because I wanted to see if I could replicate it. That was the beginning of a small part time business. don't make much money at it but I do have a lot of fun creating.

Thanks Darrin - you are absolutely right Aarrrrggh !!

wait til I get the top section done - sometime next week, it'll be a nice piece of furniture then

RoadHand - did you get it to work yet. It really does sound like it needs to reboot. removing the battery might just do it.
