  1. Thanks Carl - it was more special for me 'cause our daughter-inlaw is here this weekend with our 2 grandchildren. When I announced that I was going on the run she asked about it and gave me a more than generous contribution for the young lady. It was her husband ( our son) we lost to cancer not a year ago. It was difficult -
  2. I told Linda the other day that the Venture needed the dust wiped off, she said OK, walked over to the fridge, got a glass of wine and found her recliner. I'm relatively sure that if the world did come to an end, it would be because Linda is cleaning our Venture.
  3. :innocent-emoticon:
  4. Long time friends have a daughter with terminal cancer and today they had a poker run to help defray some medical expenses. I didn't know about the run until this AM but decided I could at least make the starting point and help with a donation. It was a 120 mile run with the 5th stop being an afternoon cook out. Hot dogs, hamburgers, ham, slaw, potatoes, baked beans, soda and iced tea. There was some other stuff to eat but I'm on a diet so I didn't pay too much attention. I didn't get an official count but another friend was manning the last station and he had, when I left, 87 cards turned in. What a GREAT day !! oh yeah, my thumb went numb a couple times but it was well worth it. btw - I reaffirmed today that I shouldn't bother playing poker
  5. A friend of mine ( yes, I have at least 1 ) there's more but they won't admit it, built one similar to that for me out of stainless. the adjustagrill is better suited for cycling tho as it is more compact.
  6. captainjoe - I'll call you Monday and see if we can meet up - I'm sure I'm going to take Rte. 30 most of the way. From our starting point it's almost a 4 hour ride w/o any stops. So we're going to lay it out for an overnighter in September. pm me -
  7. I did a BUNCH of salvage cars. My rule of thumb was that I had to buy, repair, detail and have a finished car ready to sell at two thirds of average retail value. In that figure was a fair profit for me above and beyond was was invested. So bottom line, it takes a lot of parts availability at fair prices to put something on the road that has been salvaged by the insurance companies. I had a lot of good cars on the road with NO call backs and very happy drivers. Unfortunately, buy here - pay here car lots took the wind out of that sail
  8. NICE - you're going to ENJOY you Venture !!
  9. Got it - control - and adjust resolution gonna be fun not having to run back and forth between computers Thanks - All of youse guys !!
  10. probably should have mentioned that it's my laptop that's driving me crazy - everything fits great on other 2 monitors -
  11. I guess I said it all in the title - I hate scrolling sideways - is there a way I can size the window?
  12. On Tuesday morning 8/17 I'm going over to Stoystown to the Memorial. ks up @ 8:30 AM , leaving from Gullivers in Canton, Ohio Anybody that want's to go is surely Welcome - pm or call my phone is listed in my profile.
  13. GEEEEEEEEzz that's a nice camper - too bad it doesn't have a shower, toilet, microwave - Ok you get the picture. I do prefer my travel Trailer but that IS NICE. It'll make somebody a nice outfit.
  14. I never sit at home a listen to music - I have XM on the Zumo and it's plenty satisfying, besides there are too many other things to worry about while riding
  15. imho - if I wanted better sound that bad ($370) I really believe I'd stay home and listen to the stereo.
  16. Once again this bbs has proven to be MORE than worth admission. I was in a quandry about how to set up routes on my Zumo 550 and wizard765 was kind enough to call me (4 times) til he caught me at home. He did point out that I misled him when I said I was retired and was always home Well, I am retired but somehow I keep busy doin' "stuff" As it turns out, I've had a zumo for over 2 years and didn't have a clue what it was capable of but thanks to Wayne, I got a great lesson today. Thanks Wayne :clap2: btw - Just call ahead for reservations at Malvern Hilton and a personalized tour of the area. Don't tell anybody that there is an amish community within an hour of the Hilton.
  17. I've never been to Sturgis but I have toured the area. I don't particularly care to go just for the congestion problem. Way too big a crowd for me. Thanks for the pics, I hope you enjoyed your visit there enough to make the trek worthwhile
  18. It's a smaller world than most think I live in Malvern, Ohio and have bought my last 2 Silvrado's from Walters Chevrolet in Elkland Pa. just North of Wellsboro. It's about a 6 hour drive but it's well worth it for the $$$$ saved. Plus we stop in Wellsboro at Georges Restaurant and get one of their cinnamon buns. We try to get a dozen to go when they have enough made 'cause I only buy truck every 3 or 4 years, depends on miles.
  19. Marinakorp - we stayed at a Pa. state campground several years ago with a QuickKamp bike camper. Was within a few miles of the Grand Canyon, weather co-operated perfectly, just a GREAT vacation. There's a state road in Wellsboro that goes along the river for 15 or 20 miles. It starts out a 2 lane with lines and everything, pretty soon it strongly resembles a cow path as far as width goes but the road is A1 and just perfect for a bike. Don't remember seeing more than 3 or 4 cars the whole way thru - wish I could remember the # crs is catching up to me
  20. We were camping a couple weeks ago but it wasn't a lot of fun - too many people making noise - see pics so we just tuffed it out with a Michelob Ultra or a glass of wine
  21. That is WAY cool - I had no idea there were campgrounds that rented tents ! or trailers!
  22. It's sad that someone was killed - it's more sad that the distracted driver may not suffer anything but a couple points on his driver license
  23. This is my first Venture, it's supposed to be a Midnight Venture but I prefer the 10 o'clock version I have
  24. Geeeeezzz do I like morning appointments with the Dr. They were pulling the stitches out 10 minutes before my set time Good news - he said it looks good, everything on schedule bad news ( for me ) - he said I will have to get used to NOT being able to bend the first joint 'cause what it is now is most likely what it will be later. Another pretty cool thing he said was that he could operate and 'clean up' the injury, move things around and he would get a little richer and I would have the same end result if we just let things alone. He said "why waste our time and your money" to achieve something that will happen naturally ? Bottom line - I've got a sore thumb, gonna have a sore thumb for a while and it will most likely always be numb no big deal, it's my fault - I'll live with it
  25. Well, I have a 7:40 am appointment to get the stitches out today. I dread this more than taking pics of my forked thumb - still have a lot of swelling and the first joint isn't working too well, ok - hardly works at all but we'll see - Everybody have a great day
