  1. At 04:00 I will hop on the mighty steed and head for MCRD San Diego to watch MY son graduate boot camp! He is now one of the Few And The Proud. As of Friday he will not only be my son but my brother. Semper Fi Ya'll:thumbsup:
  2. Yamaha West has an 07 on the floor for 12k. used with I think 4 or mabe 7K on the clock. Already got the trunk rack and baag rails and 2 into 4 straght pipes. Sounds cool but loud for my taste.
  3. I have had no issue with Avon Tires. I run the Sh** out of them too. Going to San Diego A week from Now. Current tires have about 6500 mikes on them and I ain't Skeered one bit.
  4. Avons by far are the best. Track and handle awsome. And I get 18K and near30K rear and front respectivle. I ride almost 35K a year and used a lot of brickstones till I went with Avon. Actual milage may vary, see your dealer for details.
  5. Ok this is what I found. they is the same company! the power cables have the same part numbers too. As do the external mics. My apoligies to the folks who told me up front to get a hold of Buddy. I should not view the world through a straw. Thanks again.
  6. MIne has the FM traffic as well. Kinda cool. I e-mailed garimn support last night about tapping into the cable that runs to the mount will see what they respond with. But thinking about it I wonder if the zumo and garmin cables match? If they do then buddy's cable may be just the ticket. Any guesses out there. Is zumo a garmin product? Better google it and see. Here I Go.
  7. Man a whole nother kettle of fish. how did you find out about the line in from the mount. the book with the 765 ain't worth a cr---. you would think if they thought that far ahead they would want us to know that they made the feature availible. Even having a stable full of acc. to go with.
  8. Ethanol. forced on US consumers as a back door farm subsidy. My:2cents:
  9. Thanks Painterman, Buddy's cable (as I understand) allows blue tooth through the Zumo GPS for cell phone use. The Garmin does not have an input jack for an external mike, only has a mic on the face of the unit to use blue tooth. Thanks X 10 to Micarl. I understand now! I was not able to go to Radio shack yesterday as my plans had to be rearanged. Had to attend a competitive trail horse competition instead. Had a great time BTW. Will stop on the way home tomorrow. Whoda thunk A/C circuit. This site is great. ya'll have my eternal respect for your scents of comunity and helping a brother rider out. Good on Ya! Thanks again Herb
  10. :thumbsup2:Thanks Carl, I am not sure there is a mute "feature" on the second gen. If I understand the mute Your talking about is when you passenger speaks. The radio cuts out. Don't happen on mine. I have to balance between the two. Keep the radio low enough I can hear Dawn and still keep up with Beck. So the mute thing is not a concern of mine. Multi tasking and listening to several sources at once is second nature. I believe I will try to make up this cable. per your schematic. Confuses me though it apears that the 2 47 ohm resistors are conected to all three wires from the 1/8 plug then the isolation transformer completetes thje circuit a third time. I am not an electrical engineer but I do have a good bit of practical experiance. The resisistors will pass current both ways not like a diode which will only pass one direction, Right? Why don't it burn to the ground? As far as soldering up all the parts and patching into the system on the bike I have no problem I just want to understand. Going to Radio Shack tomorrow and get all the stuff. I can put it together like I read the drawing. I guess I just need clarificatin that I am reading it correctly. I see a "dot" Between the resistor conections on all the leads coming from the plug. A DOT TO ME SIGNIFIES CONNECTED. If it were a cross over a little horse shoe would be there. please get back to me before i set fire to the Mighty stead. Thanks Herb
  11. I suspect this is for a 1st gen, but is it the same for a second gen? I just put on a garmin 765t. I went to radio Shack and got the stuff to split the aux under the fairing. But it just aint what I was hoping to get done. You can only hear the G chick on AUX and not play the radio. Sure would like it if this could be done on a second gen. Any help out there. And to Micarl, do you want to make up a cable that I could just splice into my I com system?
  12. Had my 08 down for a clutch about a month ago. Yamaha fixed it under warrenty and I had 60K on the clock. The even put in the PCW parts I provided at no cost to me. Not one cent. nothing nada zilch. I did pay somewhere around 80 bucks for the PCW parts with shipping.
  13. In Texas if you have the MSF card you don't have to road test.
  14. Thanks but I have already paid for it and will wait patiently as I can. I have a wonderful relationship with my dealer and was only sounding off about lack of catologed parts not being available. I don't mind waiting. afterall they did warranty my clutch after 60k miles. even doing the upgrade on the same ticket, I just had to buy the non OEM parts. Much like the over priced valve adj. I just read about. A little give and take each way makes for a happier world for all.
  15. About a month and a half ago I ordered a spoiler for the Mighty Steed. I still ain't got it. It seems that Yamaha don't keep them in stock and only order them when they get a sufficient number of orders to make an order from the vendor. So here is my plea, If you have been on the fence to get one hop off dead center and order so I can get mine. Thanks in advance. Herb
  16. Got one on the way Thanks Herb
  17. But what about the light bar? Where is it from, is it dual intensity? I need one ever since Dawn followed me home in the dark one night last fall. She says the Venture is hard to see on a moonless night.
  18. I have Gerbing, and I use two sided tape to stick it to the tank. Then when summer comes i pull it off and stow it.
  19. The sticky note I wrote on says 75.35+10.50 shipping includes spring plate and gasket.
  20. Just got off the phone with John at PCW, spring kit will be here on Tuesday. Weather not with standing. Thanks guys for everthing. I bet they will go ahead and put the parts in, like I said these guys are pretty awesome. I would do it myself were it not for a thousand other irons in the fire. Seems like here latley all I get done is haul wood to the hottest fire. Should slow down in time for prime riding weather though. I need the Venture to go to San Deigo in April to see my boy graduate from MCRD. Dawn wants to fly but I want to ride. Any bets on who will win? Thanks again. Herb
  21. Good point Sqiud. I may order a spring from (who dat)? I will do a search in a minute. and have them put it in when they get all the stuff together. I did ask about the spring and it was not a part of the covered repairs. I believe friction discs only. will verify this evening. Thanks Herb
  22. A week or so ago I was cruising along FM 4 herre in Texas going up hill into the wind with my trailer on. I was running about 70 and thought, faster. So I grabbed a hand full of throttle and the Venture sounded like and old Chevy 283 with a two speed Hydromatic that had down shifted. Instant thought dam clutch slipping. Well it turns out that was the case. took it to Yamaha west in Ft Worth. Where I bought it. They tore it down measured everything. Gave me the bad news clutch discs worn out. I asked what it was going to cost to fix it, TalKd about the options of upgrades and all like I've read about here. Well Aaron said lets hold off and see if I can get it covered under warrenty. I said well ok but its a wear item they probably wom,t cover it. He said that yamaha really likes to take care of Venture owners, lets try. Well he called yesterday and lo and behold, COVERED!!!!! I can't say for sure if it is a dealership thing or a Yamaha thing, but I can say that these guys have really taken care of any and all concerns I have ever had with the bike. And if you remember last summer when a fellow Venture riders shock laid down on him here in Texas and he was ffrom Utah. Guess who had the shock Yamaha west. Goose picked it up and went to Blanco with Tom and got him going. Kudos to all involved. Well I just want to say if your in north texas and need Yamaha service or parts you will do your self a favor by giving these guys a shot at your business they have sure earned mine!!! :bighug:Btw 2008 Venture with 60,000 yes 60,000 miles and, COVERED!!!!
