The only sugestion I would have is to make sure the hitch installs to the main frame not just to the rear bag support. I built mine from 3/4" cold rolled round stock and an 1 1/4" square reciever tube. There are several out there that bolt up near the passenger floor boards and then the tounge wieght is supported by the bag mounts. I took my design from the one out there that the reciever stinger enters throught the fender where the reflector mounts. Requires cutting the fender out to match up but in my opinion it is better due to the "straight line pull" from the mount near the passenger floor bourd. I can also put the reflector on through the same hole. Never know there is a hitch on it when the stinger is out. The vertical type hitchs end up dropping out from under the fender. To me that gives the opertunity for more slack and "clickity clack" on accelaration decelaration. and on rough roads. btw I built mine with a removable center section for rear tire changes on the center stand. Not my idea either a feature I borrowed from one I seen on the I-NET Hope this helps

He did Dawns seat (pillion) on the Venture. Made her happy. Now the roles are reversed. My seat needs work and hers is Muy Bueno. Are either of ya'lls seats heated. Thats my only concern. I have no concern with Ricks work. But I realy love the fried ham thing on the wing. -

I need to go by and visit with him too. Seems I need just a little let out for my boney parts. More like a bucket seat if you know what I mean. More support on the outer parts of my hips than directly under my "sit" bones.

Belay my last. We got ranger tickets for Sunday and folks comming in from out of town on Friday to visit, ride, and go to the game with us. Man I got so much to get done. Sure miss my son, he used to do a lot for me, mowing, baling and such. But, I may be old but not dead so when I get to it I'll giter done.

I had the same sort of problem on a Ford pickup. turned out to be the chassis ground.

I am most certain what you say is true. I've had the all balls bearings and the springs in the top of my roll away since Christmas if you recall. Most of my off time is used up working on other peoples stuff. Mostly Ag equipment and such, but it helps to buy stuff for the bike. Also if you recall I built a barn 34x24 this winter, every nail, sheet of iron and board cut was done by yours truly. The sofa set we bought last fall ain't broke in yet either. I did how ever find time to ride 30k since May when we bought the wing. This weekend is out also, must atttend a colt starting clink. The mare is due in about 6 weeks. The weekend of the 21st ain't happening either. I WILL be on a ss1k. Fees are paid up front and certificate will be on site at checkin. can't beat that. But the weekend after I have decided to Getter done. So let it be written, so let it be done.

Been in your shoes before. It is dis-heartening but usualy some thing simple, like a snap ring that slipped or a missing shim. Been wrenching on stuff for the majority of my life and Im here to tell ya the successes far out wiegh the failuers. unless we are talking about spelling. take it apart slow and have your parts blow up handy. you will find it. round here we call it re-lickin your cat. -

Calcium Chloride. Highly corrosive. But leaching should be at a minimum due to this being inside a barn.

I did not consider the floor getting wet AFTER the lime aplication. but what you say is true lime does get tacky when wet. when incorporated into the soil at a high enough rate it has a very good stabilization effect. especially in clay soils that tend to shrink crack and slough when dry. Then they get tacky when wet also. Lime stabilization is used extensivly under asphalt road surfaces for just those same reasons. Again YMMV

Just thought of lime also. Rake it in the top layer after the second wetting and pound it. If you use enough it will set up like a friable concrete. plenty good for foot trafic and not bad for a tractor shed floor either.

Yoiur on the right track with a wet down. I would soak it pretty good let it set a day and if need be soak it pretty good again. Then go to a rental place and rent a plate compactor and beat the livin stuff out of it. wet it again then strach out some canvas tarps to make it sweat. (Well now that i wrote all that what type of soil is it. You said a fine dust so I assumed clay or loam. the above wont really work with sand). After a couple ov days sweatting pull up the tarps and pack it again. Mark the tops of your tarps so you can put them back down clean side up for the festivities. Your milage may very
