  1. Gave a friend a headset and he had a similar issue. We were side by side. He could hear me, but when he pushed the button to talk, the TX didn't show on the display. Any ideas? I usually set IC to 10. Any other settings setting that he may need to adjust (yes it was set to HS).

  3. found a link to wire it w/ a relay 85 - Attach to a Ground 86 - Tap into the High Beam Wire 87 - One of the leads from the opener 30 - The other lead from the opener here's a write up I did when I had my VTX http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=5bf4.jpg http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=a1e4.jpg http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=eaeb.jpg http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=56fc.jpg http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=3815.jpg http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=90cf.jpg http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=3a00.jpg http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=cb30.jpg http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Bike%20Pics/MC%20Garage%20Door%20Opener%20mod/?action=view&current=cdf7.jpg Found another site that suggested finding a small box you can enclose the relay and garage door opener with. The box would be sealed up, with the exception of the holes for the wires to come out of, but just use some silicone to seal that up.
  4. Kevin, Didn't I send you my spreadsheet showing the differences between the 2820, 2730, 2720, & Quest2?
  5. This is what I did. Works very well. Was at a stop light last summer. Apparently communication from brain wasn't working. For some reason I thought the kickstand was down so I proceded to lean the bike over and right after I started to do it I realized the kickstand wasn't down and it was too late to keep the bike upright. Still can't figure out why I was even wanting to lean the bike onto the kickstand anyway at a stoplight. When I burned out my clutch last summer, my bike was pushed by his Harley. We still laugh about it. It actually worked very well. He said he learned how to do it, by spending some time at race tracks. He was on his Harley and I was on the Venture. He just stuck his foot onto my saddlebag rails and went very slowly until we got to the dealership which was about a block away.
  6. Menards (just like Lowe's and Home Depot). In the auto section where they have the car wash stuff and such.
  7. My '99 w/ around 55k miles was about the same price from what I remember. Shouldn't be any difference between a Millenium and non-Millenium except for color like BuddyRich said.
  8. Hey Jethroish, just saw that you live in Charlestown. I grew up in Madison. We were pratically neighbors. Now back to the regularly scheduled program.
  9. Anyone have the thread link to the pics of the Metzelers? I have them on my bike. I don't know how many miles the previous owner got out of them, but I am at 4k trouble free miles. Though they are wearing flat in the back like a car tire. Thinking about E3's or Venom's to replace them this year. I told the dealer about the chunks of Metzeler's being reported and I told them I would bring them pics. I am going to be there tomorrow.
  10. Thanks Eck. Not really urgent at all, I can wait.

  12. Sent you a PM a but as far as I can tell doesn't look like you have read it yet so I thought I would try this instead. I while back I posted a message about flag pole holders for my trunk rack. Someone suggested I contact you to see if you have any more. One would do, but really looking for 3. Please let me know if you have any and if you would be willing to sell them. Thanks Jerry.
  13. all be darn. there is bike jousting http://www.carolinamcevents.com/bikergames.html
  14. Eck, That sounds interesting. How do you determine a winner, if there is one? Mother, I have heard of the slow race but done a little differently. Go from point A to point B. Slowest time wins, but done one bike at a time instead of 3. There is another one I have seen on TV. String some hot dogs up in the air. The passenger with their hands behind their back need to grab the hot dogs with their teeth. Maybe something like medieval jousting. LOL. Some good ideas. Keep em coming. Just found this site that has a couple already talked about. http://www.shastasalutetoamerica.com/BikerGames.html
  15. Some of you may have been to biker events (rides, rallies, etc...). List some of your favorite biker games and how they are played.
  16. I think those are from J&M if I am not mistaken. http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=16 Might be something on JC whitney too. Here is another one, Honda part # 08A08-9H1-000 http://www.powersportspro.com/pages/catalogs/viewproductdetailbysku/U2t1U3RhcnRzOmhvbmRh/all/29372/honda-digital-audio-system.aspx They have a mounting kit too for something like another $100. I haven't really heard any responses as to how good this unit is. Considering the cost and the other cheaper options out there, I don't think a whole lot of these have been sold. I couldn't find any on e-bay either. Just throwing it out there too.
  17. Here's just some speakers by themselves. 300watts WOW! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MARINE-BOAT-8-WAKE-BOARD-300-WATT-WATERPROOF-SPEAKERS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1458Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a2Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem170303487356QQitemZ170303487356QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear don't care about the looks but doesn't look like it needs an amplifier? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ATV-STEREO-Waterproof-speakers_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1458Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a2Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem260366658863QQitemZ260366658863QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  18. Before I got rid of my other bike before I bought the Venture, I spent about $125 for a batwing fairing from e-bay and about that much more for paint. I already had most of the brackets since I had the memphis shades windshield. I just had to add 2 more bars. You shouldn't be out 2k to get some tunes. Also try something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/100W-Motorcycle-Speakers-Waterproof-Stereo-Amplifier-FM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem290294975381QQitemZ290294975381QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Just need your own device like mp3 player. Get a small handlebar bag to put the mp3 player inside to keep it way from the weather. Only thing too is I don't think the amplifier is waterproof so you will have to find a hiding place for it too. You can always ask the seller. There are probably even smaller amplifiers out there that are just as powerful. Based on the feedback percentage, might want to look at other sellers. Also says it is located in China. I have heard that sometimes they will get you for import fees. I am sure there are some US sellers. Just do a search for waterproof speakers and see what comes up.
  19. Kevin, Talk to Charlie with the Indy group, he may just let you borrow his bike. Ok more like swap bikes. He is just that type of person. He let me ride his VTX 1800 when he had it and his Stratoliner this past summer. Wonder how he would feel about hopping on a Venture again. Jerry.
  20. At least w/ our dealer, it is cheaper to order online through their site than walking in the door (go figure). Might see if they have a military discount too. Doesn't hurt to ask.
  21. Dave has exactly what I just found out tonight. On the bike side, the positive is the insulated side which also has a fuse on it. My plan is to have the pigtail connectors to the battery and have it hooked up to the battery tender when I have it in the garage. The previous owner smoked (I do not) but he installed a cigarette lighter. I want to go back and re-wire what he did to include pigtails so when I am riding it will be hooked up to the battery. Considering the connectors have a reversed polarity, I need to make sure the insulated side that is connected to the cigarette lighter is connected to negative side of the battery? Thanks.
  22. Don't know why I didn't think of this before and maybe this is what Dave is saying too, but on my battery tender I have it hooked up to the clips. The positive has the fuse and obviously hooked up to the positive battery terminal. So I can determine positive/negative from there assuming for other items that use the same pigtails and the positive/negative work the same way. I can use my multimeter just to be safe.
  23. When I first got the bike I was leaking oil in the back where the shock was. Since I just bought it, I took it back to the dealer to look at. They drained out a quart just to get it to the halfway mark. They actually said they prefer it to be a little over 1/2 way (not much over, but just a little). Whomever did the last oil change (wasn't the dealer I bought it from) way overfilled it. This is dangerous as now you can get oil on the rear tire as you are riding. Honestly I was hoping it was the shock. The dealer was going to work w/ me on buying the Buckeye shock. I changed the oil last and put in 3 quarts. It is just below the 1/2 way mark. I think for me another 1/2 quart would put it over. Another 8 oz might do the trick.
  24. Digitek DS830B (there is a positive symbol after it, but it is really small so I am not sure if it is actually part of the model #). I see the letter V on the top left hand corner. Next to it is a solid line w/ a dashed line under it. It gives me #'s 2000m, 20, 200, & 500. I set it to 20. Touched black probe to negative battery terminal. Touched red probe to positive battery terminal. Reading fluctuated between 13.32 & 13.33. If you can't find anything out about it I can always take a picture of the front of it, if that would help. Thanks.
  25. Cougar, I don't think I have it hooked up wrong. The Kury meter has always came on when I had the key turned to the accessory or on position. Like you said pretty straight forward install. Black goes to ground and red goes to switched on power wire. The no light thing I was referring to was my pen light that lights up when you touch it to an always on wire or switched on wire (if you have the key turned to the on position). On one end of the pen light is a really sharp point and the other is a light bulb. Sorry if I confused you. For the flashing light that just tells you, your charge is dangerously low. But I agree, I should not be seeing this if the battery is fully charged. From what RedRider said, it might depend on where I had it hooked up to. RedRider Sounds like you hooked it into the same place Midrsv did. You answered a couple of my thoughts which are if the readout is different at different locations. I also wondered if the readout goes up while riding vs. sitting in the garage. Sounds like it does. This is only my 2nd bike I have ever owned. I am not used to having just a few bars showing as the set point for the bike on a fully charged battery. On my 1st bike, when the battery was fully charged, the led bars on the kury meter was all the way over to the right. Of course it was a cruiser too and didn't have all the bells/whistles a Venture does. Leland, Well I did partially what you suggested just a few minutes ago before I saw this post. I touched the red wire directly to the positive battery post. When the bike was in the off position and also the accessory position, I got 2 red, 2 yellow and 1 green light. When I turned the key to the on position, I got 2 red and 2 yellow lights. I have a digital volt meter (decent is debatable), but quite honestly no idea how to use it. Years ago I took a computer class and it was part of the cost of the class. I no longer have the manual and since I haven't used it in so long, I don't remember how to. Any suggestions for Volt meter manufacturer & model #'s? What symbol does the meter need to be set to? What does the red side touch and what does the black side touch? What #'s am I looking for when I do this? Overall embarassed to post this, but I am going to anyway. Found out why I had an unused 3 wire block. It is the block that connects to the gas tank (which is off the bike)
