  1. so what you are saying is the issue might be location, location, location. I figured as long as it is a switched on wire, it would read the battery power accurately.
  2. So I (re)installed by stebel horn today with a relay relay post 85 to pink wire relay post 86 to brown wire relay post 30 to fuse block, which is connected to positive battery terminal relay post 87 to positive horn terminal negative horn terminal to negative battery terminal I also installed the Kury battery charge indicator. Pretty straight forward install. Use a pen light to locate switched on power wire. Light lights up when the key is turned to on position. Does not light up when key is turned to off position. The wire I used is green w/ a white stripe. It is part of a 3 wire block that is not used which is located on the clutch side of the bike. What I did was crimp a terminal (don't know the actual term) that can be used to push inside the wire block like how the stock blocks are used. Just looks like a thin flat piece of metal. Negative wire to ground. I had my battery tender hooked up and it is giving me a green light. Turned the bike on and the battery charge indicator is giving me 2 flashing red lights. I unhooked it and used my schumacher battery charger. It is also giving me a green light. Turned the bike on again and this time I get 2 red lights plus 1 yellow light which are flashing. So I am not sure why the battery indicator is telling me hardly any charge and the battery tender and charger are both telling me full charge. Any ideas why I am getting completely opposite results?
  3. Like the connectors on a battery tender. Does anyone know which end (short or long) end is positive and which is negative? Thanks.
  4. Called the dealer back. Elite III $103 - front $126 - rear Avon Venom $168 - front $172 - rear $20/tire install if I bring in the wheel myself. Is there any danger of misaligning the wheel if I take of and reinstall myself? Not sure if I have the tools to do this either. Like I mentioned before the dealer has a 1/2 off Dunlop sale. Everything I have seen, the prices are cheaper than anyone else that I have found so far but doesn't seem to be 1/2 off though. Could be wrong. I will check around more on the internet to see if I can find cheaper prices, but anyone have leads?
  5. I know I am going to need tires soon so the dealer is supposed to have a 1/2 off sale. Here is what they quoted me for D404 $182 - tires (front and rear) $120 - install $24 - 8% sales tax $10 - misc shop fees (just guessing) $336 - total. Does that sound like a good price? Especially on installation, that seems high to me. I didn't have them price Elite 3 as they had their catalog on the counter. I looked at the Elite 3, but the sizes didn't seem to match up.
  6. Honestly I am suprised to hear they worked with you on this. I have heard way too many times that you talk to Corbin about issues (especially when it comes to items under warranty) they say it is your fault and they won't help. I know too many people that have bought Corbin stuff and all have gotten the same response. This is mostly to do with their fairings & saddlebags. I had a Mustang on my VTX for at least 3-4 years. I could not ride longer than 30-45 minutes w/out wanting to get off. I was too hard. I bought a Barron's seat pad and it made a world of difference. Made it to Chattanooga and back in '07 and loved every minute I was on the bike. I have heard Corbin seats are hard too. Never heard a complaint about an Ultimate seat. Friend of mine found a seat pad at wally world for like $20. I keep forgetting to ask what area, but it looked just like a motorcycle seat and when you remove the cover it had a bunch of spongy squares.
  7. beat me to it. LOL. I was just getting to post about this.
  8. My 1st guess is how empty the tank is when it is flashes. When it is nearly empty? That should happen I believe.
  9. pm'd beer30 the day I said I would. Not sure if he has logged in since then, but he hasn't picked it up yet.
  10. Bigshell, That is what I thought too, but I compared both my inbox and sent items to make sure it did download everything and it didn't. Just my sent items. Buddy, Went back and tried your method. And it worked this time (at least from work). I will try it again from home but I saved the file so I e-mail to my home e-mail address. Just seems to be an issue when you use download all messages like Bigshell described.
  11. well...I didn't have to select any of them when I did the sent items. I just clicked on the word text under the words download all private messages. I didn't use the drop down. I went back and selected all the ones in my inbox and selected to download as text. It did the same thing. It is only downloading my sent items.
  12. Kevin, I do have one. It is wider than the Venture one, but looks like it will fit ok when I held up to the one I have on the bike now.
  13. I can download all my sent items, but it won't let me download to a txt file for my inbox. When I am in my inbox and click on txt, it still brings up sent items. Seems to only do sent items regardless if I choose XML, CSV or Text.
  14. Kevin, I will have to look in the garage. I might have a Goldwing trunk rack or 2 we can look at.
  15. Anyone know the OD for the trunk rack bars?
  16. Thanks for the link. I knew Ole' Glory needs to be at the highest point. I will check w/ Beer30 to see if he has any of those mounts. Thanks
  17. Sounds like they had better luck with the poles not rotating on them at speed than my friend, but mounted very similar. Unfortunately I have a lack of tools and materials for something like this. I don't think I currently have any way to cut an aluminum block let alone to know where to get some. Good job on those though. I think there is even someone on e-bay that sells this type of setup too. More idea?
  18. Anyone make your own flag pole holder for the trunk rack? This would be for the small flags like around 6" x 10". Share your ideas. I am looking at them, but I am a cheapskate and don't like to spend the $$ for the ones out on the market. Also there is at least one that I know of (maybe Kuryakyn) that a friend of mine has. Everytime he rides it doesn't stay in place
  19. vacuum canister is pretty easy. Just PVC pipe w/ 2 end caps. Drill 21/61 hole, 1/8 tap, and insert 1/8 barbed fitting. (At least for my VTX) Cut vacuum line that comes from the back of the carb , insert 3/16 T-fitting. After putting tube on the T fitting, install the check valve. Connect short tubing after check valve and install another T-fitting. One end of tube goes to vacuum canister and the other to the Servo.
  20. If someone does a good write up on this of installing one, could be added to the library?
  21. For a bracket I bought a a throttle return bracket from Autozone. It is somewhat kidney shaped w/ holes in it. At the point of the bracket you just have to drill the hole a little bigger so the bolt from the mirror goes right through it. Brand is Spectre. http://www.moparsupercenter.com/4708.html Kinda hard to see but it is on the left side of my old bike Here is a link to a bracket someone else made. http://home.att.net/~averyfam/bracket_small.jpg you will need a check valve too. I bought mine from Napa, p/n 730-1347
  22. I guess I will clarify, Autozone is not selling them anymore. I guess Audiovox will have to verify if they are making them anymore.
  23. Not very familiar w/ the 1200, but when I had my Vtwin, I bought Audiovox CCS-100 from Autozone. They don't have them anymore but can still be bought on e-bay. I took it off before I sold the bike. For some reason it stopped working though. I believe the servo went bad. Others had the same issue, but they just called Audiovox and got a replacement even though they didn't sell them anymore. Not sure if they charged for the replacement. Might have been on a case by case basis thing. Overall it worked very well and loved it when it was on the bike. If you get one you may have to work w/ Audiovox to get the settings right as it is made for a car but several of us w/ our particular make/model (Honda VTX 1300) used them and Audiovox helped a couple folks w/ the settings. Here is the link on how it was done on my Honda VTX. http://www.bannersyuma.com/Assets/Installing%20Cruise%20Control%20VTX%201300.pdf They can still be bought brand new for about $90 just use your favorite internet search engine for Audiovox CCS-100 (or CCS100). I was able to get one from Autozone at the time for $30. Prices will vary on e-bay. I will have to look up the link but there is a more expensive one from another company for Fuel injected bikes (not knowing if the 1200 is FI or carb)
  24. kinda like the fuzzy resevoir cover myself. LOL
  25. I own a '99. I have seen some refer to our scoot as just Ventures and some as Royal Star Ventures. There might have been one other one. I can understand using the term Venture being generic for all Ventures, but is there is a reason why some are called Royal Star Venture (if not all of them are called that)?
