  1. Plugging the AIS will reduce the popping but to Finish the job you need to change the pilot jets to 17.5's I just did that last week and the popping just vanished.
  2. Well Im back from our ride. The Scala Rider pro worked as advertized.plenty of volume, I actually had to turn it down quite a ways. My wife made a call and while she was talking my set automaticlly went to MP3 from my phone where I had music I have downloaded. when she was done she came right back We could speak to each other like we were in the car. What was strange though was I could hear her bike when she got on it and same with her hearing mine. She commented once "what was that? Sounded like a big truck coming". I told her it was my bike. We were speaking to each other at 75-80. She would give me a heads up on when to pass and so on. READY GO!
  3. I got the Scala Rider Pro kit yesterday. I also ride with a half helmet. They had a Accessory kit that is called Scalarider Audio & Microphone Kit for half-helmets. http://intstore.cardosystems.com/scala-rider-audio-kit-for-half-helmet The nice thing about this kit is the speakers are plug in and you can them with buds if you want.
  4. The box comes with hard wired speakers that unless you are good with a soldering iron are hard to change. I saw a UTube that has instructions on doing just that. The half helmet accessory kit is the one that has the plug in speakers. It has a larger foam Mike ball and various odds and ends like a velcro pad to get the speaker right on your ear. Some of the reviews I saw on UTube suggested to putting layers of velcro to get the speaker closer to the ear. With the kit I got, I can plug in any earbuds I wish like the ones from Sony. It looked very well made but I have yet to road test it. Ill post later today to let you know. I ride an RSTD with Nasty Boys and My Wife Just Got an Harley Heritage with loud Vance&Hines Pipes. Im a little hard of hearing with tinitus so if it works for us, It will work for anyone.
  5. I got a Scala rider Q2 Multiset pro yesterday at the Harley dealer. They said riders with built in audio systems are going to these. Were going on a ride today to test it out. I got up early this morning to pair my Iphone and get acquainted with it. Looks good so far. I also got the optional half helmet kit for it. I noticed that with that kit, the speakers are plug in, so you can replace them with any ear buds if you want. Il have to see how the sound quality is with the ones that come with it first then try earbuds to see if there is an improvement. The Half helmet kit also comes with a side pad that fits well on my helmet that is padded and gives an earphone feel to it.
  6. Those numbers don't look right to me. It lists top speeds of 101 to 114 MPH. I have read several posts that claim those speeds at third gear.
  7. Thats a pretty good price. I just ordered 4 jets online and it cost 21.76 including shipping. Here is the site I used http://www.jakewilson.com/p/53/90/380/1361/-/24380/Pro-X-N224.103-Series-Mikuni-Pilot-Jet/MIKUNI+JET
  8. Found out its OK to set it at 8000 RPM and curve 3. Let er Rip!
  9. YEP I got the answer to my Qwestion already though. You guys are slow.
  10. Got mine today and the instruction sheet says that for the RSTD Note: Do not exceed 6500 RPM on a stock Royal Star with out aftermarket valve springs. Do not Exceed 7500 RPM on a stck Venture with out aftermarket valve springs. So if I set my 08 RSTD at 7250, will it hurt it?
  11. So does it void my warranty if I have a Dyna 3000?
  12. I think that's where I'll set mine. What RPM is the limiter set at on the stock box? I know I hit it all the time and it really bugs me.
  13. Thanks for the link. I just ordered mine last night. It says it works also with dyna coils. What does a dyna coil do for me?
  14. Download the TomTom app on your IPhone and use velcro to stick it where ever.
  15. What about the electrical cable that comes off the throttle side? No one has mentiond much about it so Im assuming that it will not need rerouting.
  16. I got the kit that included all of the brake lines and I think all the clutch lines except the lower one. He said it was not necessary But that I could get it for an extra charge. I also got the Throttle cables and the weight adapters. He did not mention anything about foam grips. I does not matter to me, I really like the grips the way they are. Making them bigger to makes them harder to hold on to personally. My wife's Harley which used to be mine before I gave it to her and bought the RSTD has big fat grips on the fatter mini apes. They look nice but my hands start to hurt or just don't feel right around those grips. The grips that come with the RSTD are very comfortable to hold on to. I guess its part of getting older and having a touch of arthritis in the hands. Im also getting new Corbin seats with backrests. This, That and a new battery has just about maxed out my motorcycle budget for now. Cheers Bill
  17. I called and ordered the cables from Buckeye Performance as well as the end weight adapters. He said that Yamaha recommends changing out the brake and upper clutch cables every 5 years because of ballooning. The lower clutch cable is usually not done unless you want to due to lower pressure and not visible. The SS cables are a one time fix and the right length for the flanders bars. The only problem is they are on back order and will take a couple of extra weeks to get. He said they are just selling so many of those kits, its hard to keep up with the demand.
  18. Thanks Fuzzy That sounds like the way to go. I will just need the SS cables and end weight adapers. Your after pics on the other thread did not show the weights on the end. I just changed my plugs but will check the torque when I get it taken apart. So then I will not need to rerout the cable to where they are in front of the forks? Sorry about the surgery. I had Rotator cuff Surgery about 6 years ago. Its no fun.
  19. So what does the SS lines do that the stock ones don't? Just asking And do the end connectors make it easier to put the weights back on?
  20. It is all part of the RSTD experience. I kind of like the sound.
  21. I ordered some flanders bars yesterday on Amazon. 124.99/free shipping/no tax Thanks for the links on this thread to help me put them on. What are some of the options on new grips? Anyone have pics?
  22. well I got the pump today. It took a long time to get it and was disapointed to find out the guage has a 0-300 pound range. I ordered from the link above and that is what you get. any one else that wants one needs to look for the one that has a 0-60 pound range. Different part.
  23. That is strange, if someone lowered the bike at one time, it will scrape a lot easier than stock height. That is why I am not a fan of lowering kits.
  24. Thanks for the link Steve! Just ordered one. That is just what Ive been looking for. You guys are great! no more guessing and lost pressure on disconnect with my compressor.
  25. The directions on the carbtune says to bump your throttle a little after each adjustment to make sure one tube is not sticking. I found that one adjustment sometimes affects the other cylinders, so I just go back and forth till it is right on. Of course I have only used mine a few times and am still getting the hang of it. Just did mine last week and it made a big difference. One question for the OP though, Did you install the inline dampers on your vac hose as directed in the instructions?
