hmmm.....well hopefully it was just a glitch. Maybe a server issue or something. I just logged in and out a couple of times and it didn't happen. Let me know if it continues.

I haven't seen that nor heard any other reports about it. In fact, I don't think I have EVER seen it. Which browser are you using and when do you get it?

The best place would probably just be the watering hole. I can order bells at any time but I need to know that there is enough interest. I can easily be sitting on a couple thousand dollars worth of inventory for a long time if I'm not careful. When I see a strong enough response to a request, I'll do what I can to provide what is requested.

I THINK so. Not sure about the bracelets. There is an email in that post that you can use to find out. I'm presently out of guardian bells but it clearly states that in the ad. I will order more when there is enough interest to do so.

Yes, only supporting members can post to the classifieds. The reason for that is to prevent folks from joining the site only to try and sell their things. Yes, some of the ads are old. They were all re-posted when I re-activated the classifieds. Those that are there should still be good or should automatically expire soon.

Sorry about that. I tried to add an edit/repair knee function but I just can't seem to get it to work properly. I'll take another look when I get the chance.

Refrigerator is stocked. Steaks in the freezer in the garage. Ice cream in freezer in garage. I think I'm out of Carolyn's though.

Well, based upon the responses here and a good number of messages that I have received, I guess I need to go back to the old way. Now there is still the issue of ads expiring for no reason that our member vendors post. So because of that, I am going to leave a small section in the forum for folks like Skydoc, Carbon_One, Rick Butler and etc. Maybe I'll remove it later if I ever get the problem resolved. Other than that though, I will be removing the other forum based classifieds and am opening the old classifieds back up for posting right now. If you have items listed in the forum classifieds, feel free to start re-posting them in the original classifieds. There is still a link to them in the upper menu bar here.

Yea, it did get hijacked. Sorry about that but let's get back on track now. Still looking for input on the classifieds. So far, it sounds like MOST like the old system better. Still want to hear from more of you though.

Well heck Bob...I wish I was home so that I could offer you a place to stay tomorrow night but unfortunately, I'm in Michigan until at least Thursday.

OK folks. I just installed a security update to our forum software. I think I got all the necessary mods made but please let me know if you see anything that is not working properly.
-
Yep, never had any problems at all with my '99. I've never known them to be problematic.

I sent you a PM but don't spend much time worrying about it. I have tried a lot of things so far and it just doesn't seem to want to work. I tell you though, this new computer is pretty nice. My company provides my laptop and I was due a new one. The old one was a Dell Latitude with a 120 GB drive, Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of ram, 15" screen. I told them that I would like to have a bit better one this time and ended up with: Dell Vostro. Intel Quad Core I7, 6 GB Ram, 1 GB Nvidia graphics card, 500 GB 7200 RPM drive, 17.3" screen, back lit keyboard, lots of other goodies. It's a business class laptop with aluminum top, bottom and etc. It is a bit heavy but really a nice machine. Shipped with Office 2010 and some other software that is actually useful and basically NO bloatwear like you find on most consumer laptops.

whats the best engine oil to use
Freebird replied to mike042's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There is really only ONE thing that is VERY important. Just don't use any automotive oils that are labeled as energy conserving. That being said, all you REALLY need to remember is: Mobile 1 Racing 4T. Full synthetic and formulated for wet clutch bikes. -
Yes, but there is a shortcut as I said above. Right under tools, clear recent browsing history and make sure that cache is checked.

Ohhhhhhh.....well why didn't you say so. That is an entirely different thing. Different menu bar, different software, different everything. As you may have noticed, it doesn't show up there. I can probably fix that though.

Click on "tools", "clear recent history" and make sure that there is a check mark beside "cache". Cache is not the same as cookies, downloaded files, history.

Yes, that is what everybody should see. It is hard coded into the software so if anybody is NOT seeing the Google option, they are viewing an old page that almost has to be the result of it being in your local browser's cache. As for Windows. I am slow to upgrade also. I used Windows NT for as long as I could and really liked it. I totally skipped ME and anything else that came out before XP. I used XP as long as I could and it really worked great for me. I skipped Vista completely. Unfortunately though, I just got a new computer last week and it came with Windows 7. To be honest, I haven't found anything about it that I actually like any better than XP but it seems to work fine. The only issue I have with it is that some of my favorite old software will not work on this Windows 7 64 bit system. So, I'm looking for a few new software titles to replace some that I've been using for a long time and haven't found any that I like quite as well yet.

Gary, I have no idea why yours is not showing the Google search option at times. I've asked you several times though...HAVE YOU CLEARED YOUR BROWSERS CACHE? You have never answered me and that is about the only thing that I know that could be causing it to not show up. It acts like you have an old page stuck in your cache that is sometimes coming up.

No, the classifieds software is completely different than the forum software. I have thought about upgrading the forum to the latest version but every time I start looking into that, I just read about too many bugs and other issues with it. Also, a LOT of the customizations that I have in place here will not be compatible with the new version and some of the features would be missed. I will likely have to eventually do the upgrade but I'm just not looking forward to it.

Time to seek your input again. As most of you have noticed by now, I have created a classifieds area within the forum. One of the reasons for this is that our supporting members such as Sky_Doc, Rick Butler, Carbon_One, etc. were constantly having problems with their ads expiring in the old system. There is no way to make ads there permanent so those vendors who have multiple items for sale over a long period were always having to re-create their ads once they went away. I worked on that problem for some time but just didn't get it to work correctly. So, I decided to test the classifieds in the forum. The downside to having them in the forum is that they are now set to expire in 60 days except for our member vendors. In all other areas, the ads expire in 60 days and you do not have an option to renew them and you will not receive a notification that your ad is about to expire. There is also no way to do auctions for St. Judes or otherwise. So, my question is, which do you prefer? Do you like the old classifieds better or the new forum based ones? If you like the forum based ads then I have to assume that you are OK with the limitations regarding no renewals and etc. At this time, I have turned off the old ads so that no new ones can be placed but I can easily just turn it back on. As for the member vendors, one option would be to let them keep their forum areas but have all other ads placed in the old system. I don't want two complete systems however. I don't think....heck...that is another option though and it's really up to you. As always, your feedback will be appreciated.

Changing Oil, # Of Qrts.
Freebird replied to uechi kid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sorry, I just can't agree with this. Regardless of what the manual may say, and I honestly don't even remember, if you put 3.9 quarts of oil in these bikes even with a filter change, it is going to be over filled. You don't want it any more than just above half way in the sight glass. Also, it should NOT be done with the bike on the side stand. If you fill it to the half way mark while it is on the side stand you will be WAY over filled. You want it in the upright position so doing it on the Carbon One lift adapter is perfect. Just a quick edit here. Allwx and I were apparently typing at the same time. I agree with what he is saying. Just a little over 3 quarts usually brings it to the proper level even with a filter change. I usually add 3 quarts, start it and let it run for 4 or 5 minutes and then add just enough more to bring it just above the center of the sight glass.
