  1. Mine are Jardines, but from what Ive seen Jardines and Macs look the same. Heres a shot that shows them a bit better as i dont have all the chrome on my 85 that Condor does on his mkII. If there's a difference in Jardines to Macs can anyone let me know? Brian
  2. I would like to take this time to wish everyone here at VentureRider.org a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year! This is a very special group of people who go out of their way to help out other people, and who actually live life believing that you get out of life what you put into it. I would like to send to extra special Christmas wishes to Condor, Nadine and family, DKKnight, PrincessM and family, Rocket, and Jercoupe and Yamahamabev for all the friendships and support theyve shared with me in the last year. All the Best Wishes to ALL! Brian
  3. its cold here, but at least I dont have to shovel the cold, so I am keeping my mouth shut. so far we have only accumulated about 3 inches this winter. Brian
  4. I have an 8gb Ipod that I have got loaded with a bunch of music and other stuff as podcasts of stuff I like. I do not use itunes to put my music on my IPOD though as I find it too big and cumbersome, plus they want to charge me to download stuff. I have about 30 gigs of assorted music at home some has been copied (backup copy)off my cd collection, some more songs are downloads, but floola finds it all, arranges it and synches my ipod to it and lets me select what i want to put on my ipod also and categorizes it. Best of all its free download (but consider making a donation if you like it) http://www.floola.com/modules/wiwimod/index.php?page=download_win theres also a mac version some on the darkside will like, lol! Another thing I like about Floola is that you can run copies on several different machines and your ipod will synch with them all, whereas my experience with itunes on multiple machines didnt work so well. Its a great program that leaves a small footprint on your machine. Brian
  5. HAHA Yeah youre such a small wallflower Jack! Geez , you must be pretty good with photoshop tho to have hidden the oil patch under and oil cloud behind my scoot that day. LOL Brian

    Weather

Ya dont stay inside the house, you get that good hitek gear and go outside and enjoy the sunshine, if ya got it. I personally would rather have a 30 below day and sunny than a minus 10 day with rain and crap. It feels so much better when the sun is out and when its that cold the high pressure air almost always has it nice and sunny. Brian
  7. heres my 85 last summer in the park downtown, it had about 32k miles on it. Brian
  8. rent a trailer from Uhaul for about 25 bucks a day, then you dont take the chance of hitting something icy and hurting yourself. Also if you take their insurance, if something happens, like the bike falling over youre covered for damages. Brian

lovely and really sunny here....................except......... ..........................that the overnight low was -33c and our high today is sposed to be -28c (around -25f and -20f) where the heck is global warming when you need it. Too darn cold to go sledding even... Brian
  10. well.......ok........if you say so.............
  11. this morning its so cold that the tires on my truck seemed to be frozen square on the bottom for the first block or so that I drove, Its freakin nasty out there in the wind!!!! Anyone have any good scotch WITHOUT ice so I can warm up? LOL BTW I really hate those snotcicile things......lol! Brian
  12. That stat is when the screen is mostly white as plasma fires all the cells when producing a bright colour but when producing a dark colour like black or a dark green like turf the cells dont light up ,using less power. An LCD has the flourescents running all the time and the liquid crystals just block the light from coming through.. SO it does depend on what youre watching, if youre a hockey fan its gonna cost a bit more because of all the white, if youre a football fan it should be about the same. A Plasma screen still uses substatially less power than a picture tube type TV when running and they give off about the same amount of heat where the LCD runs cooler because of the cooler type Flourescent or LED lighting in behind the screen. Brian
  13. you guys sure know how to hurt a guy.... Brian

  16. If youre going west you should plan on taking in the VentureRider Roundup in Cody, wy next Sept. There will be rides set up to take as much of yellowstone and area as can be fit in. Here is the link to check it out http://www.cast-aways.com/NewCody.htm Brian
  17. My quest1 lists the speed and altitiude and arrival times down the right side at all times when you get close to an turn it will advise you audibley 1/2 mile ahead as well as print it across the top of the screen. As you get closer it zooms right in and gives you more detail on thingsa like an interchange or cloverleaf. Brian
  18. I worked for sears part time selling electronics until last spring and the best picture on the floor was always the 1080p panasonic plasma in whatever size they made. Last years consumer reports ratedit as the best picture that CR had ever seen, this year I think they are 2nd and I think Pioneer is first. ( but guess who makes the screens for Pioneer?) I have the 50 inch 1080p tv Panasonic with all the inputs , i can plug my pc into it with a monitr plug but I have found it to be something i will probably never use. So I would buy one with not quite all the inputs and save a few bucks. Panasonic in Canada also has a 48 hour repair policy, no one else even comes close to that. I love my tv and its great for the WII and the blu ray dvd player. The picture is absolutely amazing on the bluray player it looks like you can reach into it. Some of the Panasonics also do some signal upconverting so your basic cable improves as well) The Plasma has a wider viewing angle than LCD and if the lcd is using flourescent tubes for lightit will fade much quicker than a plasma, as a plasma is essentially microscopic neon signs all mashed together to give your colour. (Panasonics life until brightness fades is expected to be 100,000 hours or about 2 times what your old picture tube tv was.). Plasma gives you blacker blacks and overall better contrast than an LCD and has much faster response times if you watch sports. some of the LCD's actually get a trail behind a hockey puck as it cant keep up with the fast movement. The best thing is to shop around and find a reputable brand at a good price and then find a store like sears that is reputable and ask them to match price. Sears policy in Canada is to match price on the same models as long as the competitors have a store in your city. At ;east that way youve got a solid store standing behind you if something goes wrong whereas the mom and pop operations may be gone. PS DO NOT BUY HDMI CABLES OR ANY CABLES FROM THE STORE! they are always about 10x over cost. my tv runs great on the 10 dollar cables. its a digital signal like a computer so the signal either gets to the tv or not, there can be no degradation of quality as the packets of data either get thru one by one or they dont and your tv will pixelate. I bought mine from tigerdirect.com at 10 bux a cable. BTW I would also recommend NOT mounting it over a fireplace I have never seen a Panasonic fail when it was sitting anywhere else, but over a fireplace youre asking for trouble because of the heat. ( I have had 2 LG's fail while right on our sales floor when less than 6 months old and even Sears had trouble getting LG to cover the repairs on them, I would avoid them as a major brand name, IMO) Good luck hunting down what you want! Brian
  19. there isnt an adjustment right on the shock as far as I am aware, but to get a different ride , you can adjust the dial on the left side for stiffer or smoother ride. Look on left side kinda above the footpegs. Its rcommended to only turn it one notch at a time. Brian
  20. My 85 is all keyed the same, even the locks that allow me take the bags off the bike use the same key. I just went down to my local locksmith and he cut spares for me for about 3 bucks each. I hear that some guys with the same issue you have are getting the key cut for the ignition on one side of the key and the bags on the other, so all you gotta do is flip the key over. Brian
  21. Thanks for keeping an eye on things for us Don! Brian
  22. If you get the garmin motorcycle kit for the quest2 it will plug right into your aux plug and will use your bike stereo speakers. Brian
  23. I found a quest 2 for sale here at 149 and it looks like you get free shipping in the US http://www.topchoicedigital.com/viewproduct.aspx?id=10078423&l=Froogle Brian
  24. yeah the quest2 is identical to mine but it has 2 or 3 times the built in memory so it holds all the maps of north america. It wasnt an issue for me as I dont make too many trips that long at once, heheh. The other thing I liked about the quest or quest2 is that they are running with solid state memory not harddrives. Anything with a harddrive is gonna hate the vibration on a bike, just ask any computer geek.... Thats was a screaming deal on that quest2 for 140 bucks I have never seen them at that price, too bad you didnt get a chance to snap it up. there is one on the net now for 199 on bizrate, but I dont know the retailer. Brian
  25. I dunno Lou, theres a lot of places in Long Way Round that looked more like a nasty endurance test than a vacation. But I woulda loved to have been there for that adventure! Both of those videos are fantastic to watch. Brian
