Is my 2007 Midnight Venture still a Midnight ?
1BigDog replied to Hummingbird's topic in Watering Hole
Sorry dude, but a leopard cant change his spots. You know the saying, a rose is a rose is a rose..... However, the addition of a silver stripe WILL increase its horsepower. Because we ALL know that the silver Ventures ARE the fastest....... -

Rear Brake questions
1BigDog replied to nkbjones's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If that caliper is freezing up, and it sounds like it is, then I would think it would be a warranty repair. No way should a 2 year old caliper freeze on you. Pad wear is the only thing not covered. Premature pad wear is an indication of a mechanical failure. Average life for a rear set of pads is about 12-14k. Below is the needed parts for a rebuild..... http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/common/images/black.gifhttp://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/modules/oemparts/images/partszoomin.gif http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/modules/oemparts/images/partszoomout.gif http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/modules/oemparts/images/partszoomreset.gif http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/common/images/black.gifTagDescriptionReqPrice 1SKU: 4NK-2582W-00-00 DISC, REAR BRAKE 21$184.58http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/modules/oemparts/images/partsadd.gif2http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/common/images/icoPartSuper.gif Loading... Annie, we havent weighed a boxed set yet. Once we do Ill post it here. These do have a backward sweep but its really not too visible on the pics. These are also wider and longer than stock. I had to bend the set on my bike a bit forward and it took a good pull to move them. The bend up top is not a sharp bend but more of a tight roll which adds to its strength. Right now im up to 16 sets..4 more to go to start production.

He said he had one in there.......darn cats....... -
Im over in the Fort Caroline area of Arlington, east of the Dames Point bridge.

Got you on the list.......thanks:smile5: By the way, Dan is also looking into the possibility of making lower fairing deflectors out of the same material too. Those too would possibly be one piece so there would be no screw holes to mar the surface. Another possibility is to make those upper fairing deflectors located under the upper fairing from the same material too. Thats going to take some doing with all the bends and mounting points but were gonna give it a try.

As promised here are some pics of the polished front fork deflectors that my friend came up with. They are made of 6061 T-6 0.125 aircraft grade structural aluminum and are highly polished. Yes, they are also one piece....no seperate bracket needed. I have had a mock up set on my RSV for over a month with no bracket issues. The ones in the pictures are representative of the finished product with two exceptions. The final production pieces will have a slightly larger mounting base with elongated holes so the whole deflector can be slid side to side for a better fit and the polishing will be much better. This was a quick polish job so they could be displayed on the bike at the Daytona M&E. Another feature is the extra width and length of the deflector. They are wide enough at the bottom to clear the front fender rail bolt. Also, no screw holes..completely smooth surface. Im quite happy with this set just the way they are but I know the final set will be much better (read that shinier). Now the nuts and bolts: The use of 6061 T-6 aluminum is not cheap. For a good product you need good material and you cant do much better than the 6061 for finish and strength. A minimum of 20 orders would be needed to cover material costs. So, if you like what you see and want to commit to an order let me know, either here or in a PM. Price for both deflectors is $79.00 plus shipping. Once the minimum of 20 is reached I can contact those who committed to arrange payment. Dan is a close friend who happens to have access to the right tools and wanted to offer me a nice piece for my bike. We discussed possibly making extras and offering it to our VR members. Thats how this came about. So whatdya think????

Ken, hope to see you there Sunday with that finished trike. Fladiver, hope you can make it too. Didnt forget you too Al. The more the merrier..... Ill be leaving Jax about 10:30 am, running down 95 from the Southside. Hope the weather holds up. Right now its calling for 40% chance of late afternoon rain with a Nor'easter knocking on our door.

Just thought id mention it but a while back I had a post where a friend was going to make a set of fork deflectors for our RSV's. I have been running a temp/mock up set for about a month now, mostly to test the bracket strength. As far as I am concerned it held up extremely well. We test fitted another set today prior to polishing. They fit well but there is something in the bracket we would like to tweak a bit more for a more adjustable fit. If we can get it polished before Sunday I should have a set on my bike for display at the Daytona Meet and Eat. If all goes well, several more sets will be made with some mods to the mounting bracket and pics will be posted here. Time is a problem, or lack of it right now so I dont expect it to be real soon. Biggest hassle right now is running back and forth for my friend from Jax to Savannah to use the machine and back. But if it comes out as planned I think you all will be very satisfied with the finished product.

There is a Dairy Queen about 1/2 mile north of the restaurant. Now we can ride up there for dessert if you are all so inclined, or if you all want to show up the Harleys, we can ride up to Destination Daytona for some Brusters Ice Cream, which is smack dab in front of Daytona Harley. Your call.

Yep, that was it...Venture drive. Dont know why my map didnt show up. Bees that way sometimes...... Thanks, Steve.

Just my .02 on this. I run the Avons and im quite happy with them. I had the 130 on the front for about 2k and I was not happy with its stability at high speeds. I went back to the 150 and now im pleased. I run about 46-48 front and rear with no issues. I also ride 2-up most of the time. 45 lbs in the rear shock and 4 lbs in the forks. Give those Venoms some time.
