Ya buuuut, Jonas is such a nice guy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
-
Funny, I've heard those words before somewhere,,,, but then who cares, I can go into my shop, walk over and caress her and tell her that summer is really coming and that soon she'll be out hauling me all over the country,, and then quietly she murmurs that a break is not all that bad, and she's as ready as she'll ever be to go find the corners, hills and beautiful scenery of our grand country side.

Why not adjust the lever?
-
There should be an extra piece of cable come with the meter. If you can't get at it at the antenna, you should be able to take the cable off the radio,,, same difference, maybe not 99% as accurate.
-
Hope you got this right. With the meter attached, set the switch to fwd, then key the mic and set pointer at 'set'. Release the mic, set switch to ref key the mic and the pointer should read to '0', if not adjust antenna and then do this all over again, including setting the pointer to 'set' in the fwd position.

Your SWR meter should come with a short cord, so it can be plugged in where ever you have connection in the antenna lead. I usually try to undo the connection right at the antenna. You need to be outside, with the trunk in place and anything you would normally load in the trunk in the trunk. Once you have the meter hooked in, you power up the CB, key the mic, set the pointer of the meter at 'set' while the switch is in the fwrd position. Release the mic button, move the switch into the rev position and key the mic again. It should read 0, if it doesn't then you need to adjust the antenna. Do it all again and see what happened and adjust accordingly.

Stupid Windshield Instalation Question
Marcarl replied to luke000's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I haven't put my 86 back together yet, and the 83 to 85 is different, doesn't have that piece, so I think it's got to do with the chrome piece that goes on. It probably holds, stabilizes the chrome piece. -
If you guys keep this in memory, then I'm going to change my name to Cow-Paddie.

When I go for Ice-cream, I go looking for Kawartha Dairy, or Hewitts Dairy, in that order. If they can't be had then DQ will do, but only until I get back to ONTARIO!!!!

TOM!!!!!! the way you keep ranting, folks here are going to think the worst of you, thinking that you are a miserable old man and there just is no way to please you. Actually everybody, Tom is sort of a nice chap, kind of easy to get along with, and will open his home and heart to almost anybody, and will even feed you pizza if you show up. I could say more, like how much he adores Taters, his dog(s), his bike, how much he does for others with his rallies, and more, but I not take away from the present subject, which seems to be one of his favorites, seeing as he talks about it so much.

Somebody put the clutch together wrong. Take it apart to see if the thrust plate, (washer) is in the right position) #2 in the parts fiche. If you put this next to # 18, you'll come up the the problem you discribe. http://images.powersportsnetwork.com/fiche/images/YAMAHA/1988/Motorcycles/277_clutch.gif -
Well aren't they made out of tin? fuzzy!!!!

18mm thin walled socket. Crack all the plugs loose, blow out the recess with lots of air, and then remove plug. You might find that a super short extension would be a handy thing to have as well, I just use a u-joint.
-
Good to hear that you is dong well so far,,, didn't expect anything else, really, with faithful Alan by your side, and the prayers going up on a steady basis.

Wow, got to watch those co-part and transaction fees, $60 bid ends up costing $365,, ouch!

That same stand comes on sale at CTC, TCS, or Princess auto for the same cost or less and then is brand new. Carbon One makes an excellent adapter and stand for this setup, well worth the investment.

Hopefully that's a good step behind you and will set you up for good healing. We will keep rooting for you, so keep us posted as to how it's going, even if you need to complain and groan at times. God Bless Carl

Just some pictures to show that the inside knuckle must be in the UP position. The cover won't go on properly when the knuckle is in the down position, you can ram it on but something will have to give and it won't shift if at all. There is not enough room in behind the knuckle when it is down, not so the case when it is up because of the shape of the lower crankcase cover (oil pan). Now the outside knuckle could possibly go either up or down and if you reverse it (up rather than down or vice-versa) then you would reverse the shift pattern on your heal toe. In the first picture the cover is properly seated and went on easy. In pictures 2,3&4 the cover is still 1\2 inch to go, but can't because the shifter is jammed against the lower crankcase cover.

Ya and maybe at your expense,, now go figure.
