  1. That's the beauty of the impact driver (Dewalt), it gives you the impact without the danger of hammering your way through the item your working on. You don't need to support the back side or set it in a 'vice' to keep it from turning. More or less like an air impact, but then much gentler and neater, and much better control with amazing results. Wayne didn't believe me when he first saw me use it, but now has his own,,, it's awesome!!!!
  2. I think you covered it fairly well,,, nice job!
  3. Not really as you might think, it's variable speed, so the harder you squeeze the trigger the more torque, also the better the battery the more torque, so a half used battery maybe won't do what a full battery is capable of.
  4. If you really want to know and the present owner agrees, all it takes is to remove the middle gear cover and take a look,,, it'll be right there staring at ya. See red arrows. Only have to remove small side cover and six allen head cap screws.
  5. Try downloading 'Open Office', it's free and easy to use.
  6. So now what causes the wear on the gear dogs,,, the fact that they're not seated a deeply as they should be with a solid washer? or hard riding. I'd submit that all would be good if it weren't for that blasted washer which is the only thing that Yammi seemed to have changed in Mid 85. So again, little do I know, but it seems that the washer wears and so allows the dogs to slip out of their holes and so become worn. The first time this happens is under extreme pressure from a hard take off, but soon as the wear becomes evident, the dogs find their way out of the holes much easier and eventually they don't want to be in there at all.
  7. Seeing as there is constant pressure on that split washer, I would think it's got more to do with revolutions than with how hard it was ridden. I suppose that riding it hard would speed up the process, but it will wear regardless, and I would say that somewhere before you hit the 80,000 km, 50,000mile mark, it's going to show up. It's a soft washer and that' that! Best to replace before it rears it's ugly head, that way there shouldn't be any additional problems in the tranny. Interesting thing is, when you take off the middle gear cover you can see it sitting right there,,, looking at you and saying,, come and get me,, but the tranny has to come apart to get at it, so the engine has to come out, the faring has to come off and the exhaust has to come apart,,, and while you in there.................
  8. Kind of the same thing as I'm doing to an 86, except that Wizard765 took all the pictures.
  9. You got a leak! Use soapy water to find it then fix it.
  10. Good idea. I have been getting away with just using an air impact, so far so good, I haven't had to stick anything in there to hold anything yet,,,,,,,,,,,,
  11. I have found that using an impact driver saves me a lot of screw heads and broken screws. Personally I use an 18 volt DeWalt, but anything like it would be useful, much better than the impact drivers that you hit with a hammer. Also, it saves the pilllips bit, or what ever bit you might be using,,, fact is, I find it so handy that it almost has replaced all use of my hand held screw drivers and ratchets, not all mind you, but it is one tool I would replace immediately should the one I have fail.
  12. For the time it takes, put it on and see how you like it, after all, it's your bike and really you're the one who is going to spend most of the time with it, looking at it, appreciating it, cleaning it, or being disgusted with it.
  13. Let me know if you can find it, if not, I'll send you one.
  14. Wow,, nice job,, bet you're happy!
  15. Bet you are happy to find a new home for that paddle EH?
  16. That's not fair, here I am working hard all night on my scoot, and you get to sit there and come up with all the right answers. I'm totally ticked,,,, isn't the Warden there to keep you busy??
  17. You won't have time for anything now,,,, might as well catch a nap first,, then consider how it's best to keep up with what you meant to get done last week.
  18. They're at the bottom of the screen, so you need to turn your screen upside down, then shake it, and if they're ready they show up,,,, but only if they're ready!
  19. Ya I know what you said is maybe not what you meant,,,,,, the real reason that a 1st gen is so hard to get a good picture from, is that it is mostly a blurr as it goes by, it may look faded and cracked, but we can't do much about the cameras people use. Now the 2nd gens on the other hand spend a lot of time whining, so not hard to get a picture there.
  20. Makes good sense to me.
  21. Works good so far,, but I don't see anything for SNOW REMOVAL,,, or is that not considered assistance.
  22. Yep, you is absolutely, entirely, and without question,,,, correct!, But on the other hand, I'm Dutch and hate spending money on an item that I didn't want, and if it's not in the condition that I was expecting, or better, then I don't\didn't want it. So good pictures help me to decide whether the wording of the advertizing is the same as reality, and if the picture doesn't show good, I move on,,, just in case. No problem for me,,, really,,,, but a bummer for those who would like to have me buy their item, which I'm not obligated to do, even though I might be the only one wanting such a piece.
  23. Good point! Often times I will look at an item that is posted for sale, but go no further if I can't see what I want, and that would be a good looking piece. I assume, and maybe wrongly at times, but I assume that if the picture(s) is\are not bright and clean then there is something hidden, and so I move on.
  24. She could so!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I held her up a bit:happy65:
