  1. No sand, none, I got to check up real close like, just clean smooth pavement, (when you look from the seat, but not so smooth when you're sliding on it). Oh by the way, no scratch, no wear on the clothing, nothing but a small bruise the size of a quarter (where I'm not going to show it), and some dust marks on my skidoo suit.
  2. If it's exactly the same as this, I would be in trouble indeed. This one is lucky enough to have a total repaint except for the tank cover. Although it's a good scoot, it doesn't show or demonstrate it's history. It's a good tire, but not new, and the back did not just slide out, the whole scoot, front and back went to slide. You would have a problem on our rides then,,, for it's 'kick stands up' when it comes time to leave. So IF you should ever join one of MarCarl's rides, best get yourself a lick stand, just so you can do it. :stirthepot:
  3. Looking back I guess the biggest problem I had and so far have, is that I sold the bike, took the money and now smucked it up,,,, I know, it can happen, and it will be fixed,,, it's just a feeling I guess.
  4. Yep, it happens, but why did I have to start it this year. What happened you ask????????? Well I'll tell ya!!!! Well maybe I didn't start it, and some others are just too embarrassed to mention it, and maybe some might not even have noticed it yet,,,,,,,, but the scoot I was riding went to sleep,,, right in the middle of the ride no less,,, and it wasn't even parked, hey the wheels were turning and it was in gear one,,,, not only that, there were people watching me as it happened, but mostly they just waited their turn and then kept on their merry way, except for one young fella who offered to help me get 'er out of the sleep mode and back on her two wheels. Here's what happened,,,, I think. First ride of the season, a test ride on my 86 to make sure that the repairs and mods done were in fact repairs and that all that was supposed to work actually worked. First on the agenda was a tank of gas, then back on the scoot, pop it into gear, make a right turn at the road and let 'er out. Worked real good, does it ever feel nice to open the throttle and have first gen response, something everybody should experience in their life-time, at least once, even if you ride a Wing or something similar. Took it about 5 miles and then decided to turn left at a lighted intersection. My light was red so had to wait it out, it turned green, I waited for oncoming traffic, checked to make sure that all the others, 6 in total, were waiting their turn and then let out the clutch and proceeded to turn left. Well it worked for a short distance, about half- way through the turn and then somebody threw some grease or ice under my wheels. First the back started to slide to the right, then when I steered to the right to right things back up the front wheel thought it to be more interesting if it would slide in the same direction as the back wheel, heck they spent all winter together, so no wonder they were of the same mind. Anyways, 2 wheels going in the same direction at the same time and not going forward demanded that I have different riding skills than what I was able to conjure up in such a short time, so I vacated my position as chairman, and instantly became golfer. Needless to say, but I'll say it anyways, the bike and I parted company. I was in a better position than the bike, so even though I was no longer chairman, I took the lead, with scooter following close behind. Thank goodness it was not my 85, for she would have followed me a lot closer, being such a faithful steed, but it was the 86, and we had not been together for more than 10 minutes, and so she got somewhat confused and in doing so, done a spin around which caused her to loose momentum and so stay her distance. Buddy watching this in his truck said that 86 was not too happy about the whole ordeal and had let off some sparks in her lower midsection in protest. He offered to help me right her up, and humbly I accepted his offer, after which I did a quick check over, me and her, and then continued on my 'merry' way. So WHAT HAPPENED? Best I can figure out is that when I left the gas pumps the kick stand did not go up, and the switch did not do it's job, so the bike started and went, until the left hand turn. Lesson to be learned: don't depend on the electrics or the electronics, double check that what you think should have happened actually did. Now, did I forget the kickstand????? probably, it won't come down by itself and it has marks on it that show it was involved as buddy in the truck said it was. But the bike should not have started or gone into gear,,,,, right?????? WRONG!!!!!!!. This time no real damage, can be fixed,,, another time?????
  5. She just wanted to see if you could change,,,, don't do it,,, there'll be a host of other stuff waiting for you if you let think that!!!
  6. I think that the house should be going to the best qualified,,, and I think that would be me,,, haven't figured out what exactly would make me the best qualified yet,,,,, but I know that I'm real good at sleeping,,,,, I shower at least once a month, but if it's Christmas maybe twice,,,,, I don't mind somebody else cooking for me, so I can eat well,,,,,, I plan to stay 2 nights and am told that I can snore loudly so a place of my own would be a bonus for others. I am planning on coming, and I will be tired, and I haven't made any reservations yet so I don't have any that can't be cancelled. Am I in?
  7. Good to hear,,,, sometimes you got to get into the tunnel to see the light,, and then you can really appreciate the light when you get there EH? Glad things are working out for you, and the best for your dealing with the appeal.
  8. You're afterburners aren't working,,, sounds like a 2nd gen issue.
  9. Hey,, I'm a day or so late,,, but I do hope you had a great day and you don't feel any older,,, yet,,,,,,,,,,
  10. It's Muffinman in disguise.
  11. Nice job,,,,, now do you dare ride it?
  12. I could use the practice, wanta ride to Brantford?
  13. I gave Saddlebum a real live demo on his scoot, and now he has taken all the engine covers to get polished and thinking on who he rope into doing the rest of the scoot around the clean spots.
  14. And OH,, if you're going to get one and you don't like it, you can always bring it back. And if your going to get one,,, you might as well get two, that way if you're happy, you can be twice as happy, or if you get ticked, then you can be twice as ticked,,,,, not really, having 2 makes changing the front tire so much easier, 'specially the 'putting it back on' part.
  15. I have a MotoMaster and a PowerBuilt, both works to my satisfaction, but the MM that they have now is not the same as the one I got. I got mine about 7-8 years ago.
  16. You're reading tooooo fast,,, there is s four letter word there that starts with N.
  17. Don't know how this thread will bend, but it seems to be taking a turn,, so I'll help out. Giving to others has very little to do with ones self, how good we feel etc. it also has little to do with who we give it to, although that is where the results are seen,,,,, it has more to do with what the Boss sees you doing, He's the one who dresses the lily of the field and clothes the birds of the air, and so is watching how you\we are following in His footsteps. Hey, just think about it, He owns this place, and so can give where He pleases. So give to who needs it, and then don't go worrying about it.
  18. YEP!
  19. Hope and pray for all of you that this may be a quick and easy transition. Spend some good family time together to celebrate the time you all had together, and that you can look forward to the time when this will never need happen again.
  20. Could use some color,,,,,, maybe grease it!
  21. Glad to hear of success,,, $43.00, that's a deal for sure!
  22. One thing I would add, and I agree to ALL that was said, what ever you do, who ever you talk to, let them know that everything is being recorded, names, phone numbers, times, pictures of those in attendance, what was said and promised. Get a book, write it all down as the meetings take place, so in other words, take minutes. You'd be surprised at change in the attendees attitudes and what they say or advise.
  23. If you still have the old fuse box, then I would start by replacing that. It will give you more issues as time goes by, like rather soon like. If you have replaced the fuse box, you might have a loose connection, connector, so check those as well.
  24. Don't see any repels in the pond, looks kind of quiet there. NICE!
  25. I would be pulling your forks apart, if you hear something in there, somebody has been there and not got things together the way they should be. Not saying it's your problem, but it will be an issue, and you should clear up the knowns before getting to the unknowns. If it's an 83, it will be time to do the swing arm, it needs to come completely apart, cleaned and greased. Also, you say that the bars seem slightly off, when you have the forks off, it's a good time to get the measuring tape out and check to see where and how they are off, or if you are off, and then determine what the best coarse of action might be to correct the problem if there is one.
