  1. Found this on the Yamaha fiche.. 26H-26473-00-00 HOSE, clutch 2 Not Availablehttp://www.starmotorcycles.com/partviewer/default.aspx?ls=star#/Yamaha/XVZ12DWC_-_1989/FRONT_MASTER_CYLINDER_2/XVZ12DWC_%281989_MOTORCYCLE%29/FRONT_MASTER_CYLINDER_2_%28XVZ12DWC_-_1989%29 You might need to get a hold of Rick Butler and get his new hose kit for the whole bike. Well worth the money. Rick F.
  2. Welcome and congrats on the bike. There is only one pouch on the travel trunk and two on the fairing. The left side of the travel trunk as you are sitting on the bike has the radio/intercom controls for the passenger. So it sounds like you have the correct amount for the bike to me. Let us know if you have any other question and we will all see what we can do to answer them for you. Rick F.
  3. The rear swing arm and shock mounting point is different also. They changed between the 87 and 88 years. Rick F.
  4. Saw $3.09 here in Bloomington, MN yesterday. For some reason we seem to have the cheapest gas in Minnesota it seems. Hope to see under $3 real soon. Rick F.
  5. I would remove all the plastic and lift it without it on, just in case.. Good Luck.. Rick F.
  6. Found this out about the name... First of all, bald eagles are not bald. Some people say this bird was given the name "Bald eagle" because the lighter feathers on its head make the bird appear bald from a distance. In fact, the word "bald" comes from the old English term "balde" which originally meant white, not hairless. The bald eagle's scientific name, Haliaeetus leucocephalus, stands for: sea (halo), eagle (aeetos) and white (leukos), as in the feathers on the eagle's head. So there you have it, the bald eagle is a seabird with a white head. Hope that helps... Rick F.
  7. I also have the Markland highway boards mounted on my crash bars. I ended up turning the mounts upside down and that helped to lower the boards for my longer legs. I find them very comfortable but I am not sure if you can still get them as they came on my bike from a PO. Hope that helps, Rick F.
  8. I have a 1300 logo on the trunk rack on my 89 VR so I believe there must be some out there. Rick F.
  9. You didnt state what year bike, but the wires from the stator cover go to your regulator. There should be a connector near or on the regulator that you can disconnect and that should let you remove the cover from the bike. Just trace the wires and you should be locate the connector fairly easily. Good Luck, Rick F.
  10. Have you seen the snow stick also? Show how deep the snow has been over the winters. I dont remember just where it is other north of Houghton on the way to Copper Harbor. Enjoy the scenery up there. Rick F.
  11. Looks real nice, enjoy riding it... Rick F.
  12. The LED strip I used doesnt seem to have the ability to dim the output easily. I had thought about using one of the rows as tail light but I felt the need for more brake lights was more important. So I am looking at adding a brake light modulator such as this one. http://www.bikevis.com/motorcycle-led-brake-light-modulators.html It can be set up to have about 33% output for a running light and then full voltage for a brake light plus flash the brake light to alert others that I am slowing down. The main reason for the additional brake lights was to been seen in traffic and this brake modulator is exactly what I am looking for. Let me know if you have any questions. Rick F.
  13. I would offer to help you out but I need to leave on Sunday for Bismarck, ND and need to finish up some things around the house on Saturday. Rick F.
  14. Here are some sites with a good comparison. http://www.ledropelightsandmore.com/led-smd-comparison.html http://ezinearticles.com/?All-About-LED-Strips-4---The-Eternal-Debate---SMD3528-Vs-SMD5050&id=4670120 Hope that clears some things up. Rick F.
  15. I have replaced my stock travel trunk reflector with an out of production aftermarket unit that had 4 194 bulbs that can be wired for either brake lights or running lights or a combo of both. It also has a pair of turn signal indicators on each side of that. Taking that about isnt too bad as you can use a heat gun to soften the glue or you can work the cover off also if you take it easy on it. I am not sure how to remove the reflector from the mount but if you could I believe that you could add these LED as brake in that also. Hope that helps. Rick F.
  16. I had purchased one of the replacement turnsignal/brakelights for the reflector on the travel trunk on my 89 VR and never was happy with how much light the 4 194 bulbs put out for an additional brake light. I liked the idea of it up higher and more eye level with the cars behind me but just didnt do the job in my mind in getting their attention. So I have been on the lookout for more lighting for it for a while. I finally took the plunge and tried out some 12vdc strip LEDs in red. These are what is called a 5050 LED with 3 sources of light per LED housing and has 300 LEDs per 5 meter length. I ended up filling the rear of the housing with over a 100 leds and I must say it is now bright and noticeable. I purchased them off of Ebay for $26.00 shipping included from a China location. Here is the seller and he has lowered his price it appears. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Waterproof-5050-300LED-5M-60LED-M-Light-Strip-12V-IP65-LED-LAMP-Car-Auto-/120894815654?pt=US_Car_Lighting&hash=item1c25e47da6 I feel that the light is just as bright if not brighter then the stock brake light and comes on quicker then the stock brake light also. I am thinking the next step is to try a modulator that has the lights at 33% power to work as a taillight and then flashes the LEDs for a bit and then goes solid. I really want to get their attention of those behind me. Here are some pictures of the setup. Let me know what you think. File 1 & 2 is how I set them in the housing. The LEDs are waterproof and have 3M sticky tape on the backside. They are able to be cut every 3 LED and have solder pads to attach wires to them. File 5 is the LEDs on but the red cover is not installed yet. File 6 is with the cover installed and the LEDs on and the overhead garage lights on. File 7 is with the cover installed and the LEDs on and the overhead garage lights off. Thanks Rick F.
  17. I purchased a set of NOS rotor covers on a buy it now and with shipping paid $130.00. Now I feel I got a steal as I seen used ones in good shape go for over $200 for the pair. Hope that helps. Rick F.
  18. I wouldn't know why it would be close in May unless you are talking Beartooth Pass. That would depend on what the snow fall ends up being for the area but the pass usually isn't open till June usually. Here is a link that you can check the conditions of the pass before you leave. http://www.beartoothhighway.com/ I was out there in middle June a few years ago and they had just opened up the pass the day before we arrived there. The snow drifts along the road in places were about 20 ft tall and the snow melt was refreezing on the road when it was in the shadow of the snow drifts. But if it is open, well worth the drive. Hope that helps you a bit. Rick F.
  19. Just wanted to pass along this information on the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle show and swap meet at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds on Saturday, June 16th, 2012. Here is the link to their flyer: http://vjmc-mn.com/2012show.html And the Antique Motorcycle Club of America is also there... http://www.vikingmc.org/ Rick F.
  20. Looks great.. I will have to get over that way and take a ride with you and see it in person. Guess this means you will need a few more trips up to Frankies in Superior... Rick F.
  21. I would think it would be for the carbs and electronics if they are functional. The link under the stator is most likely the wires coming and it has oil leaking around it. How are the vents in the side covers? If they are complete they are worth a bit but if they are broken, not much worth there. I wouldnt be too concerned about the tires as I dont know if I would want to trust them unless they are only a year or two old. Good Luck and let us know. Rick F.
  22. Here is the install instructions that come with the Chrome Side Cover Rails. Hope this can assist anyone trying to install these. Rick F.
  23. Sounds like that would work out. I agree making the spacer out of one piece would be a lot easier then just making a washer. Let us know how it works out for you. Rick F.
  24. The bore was straight thru with no step. I measured both ends of the axle bore just to make sure of that. All measurements were done with a Harbor Freight digital caliper and I did zero it out a couple times to verify all the measurements taken. I dont have an axle available to measure so I am not sure of diameter of that. I hope that helps. Rick F.
  25. Here is the measurements of a virgin spacer fresh out of the package. over all length is .85 inches the length of the bigger diameter is .48 inches length of smaller diameter is .37 inches bigger diameter is 1.10 inches small diameter is 1.06 inches the bore in the spacer has a diameter of .67 inches. I hope this helps. Rick F.
