When I rebuilt the clutch slave cylinder on my 89 VR, I drained the oil out of the bottom bolt hole on the cover. This is just engine oil as the transmission and engine share the same oil. I wouldnt worry about the little amount of oil that comes out but be aware there is a washer on the bottom bolt that helps to seal the opening. I would have a new gasket for when you did this and it will need to be replaced also. Getting the cylinder out can be a pain but take you time and work it around and it will come out. If I recall correctly it drops out the bottom but it takes a bit. You can order a rebuild kit for it or a new complete unit I believe. Rebuilding it wasnt that hard and it what I did on mine and it has been leak free for 5 years now. There is also a manual for the 1st Gens here in the tech section if that helps you out also. I just checked out my 89 VR and the VIN sticker is located below the clutch cover on the right side as you sit on the bike. It is just above the exhaust pipe. It is also stamped into the triple tree neck on the right side also. I have my fairing off at the moment and is easy to see but with the fairing on, it will be a little tough to see, but if you take off the grate where the emergency flasher switch is, that might make it easier. The problem I had with SyncPro was the o-rings were dried out and I had to call Motion Pro and get a refill kit. They did send one for free but the o-rings had dried out within a year and that was storing it in my heated basement. I havent bothered to get another refill kit as I am not sure if I really want to use it again or not. When it worked it seemed to work fine the couple of times I used it. Not sure what to tell you but I would have your daughter clarify with Walmart just what they mean by to the door. Then when they call you to arrange delivery, I would ask the person calling if they are bring it into your house and setting it where you want. Most time when I have had furniture delivered, They would bring it into the house and set it where we wanted it. Granted I didnt buy it from Walmart, but asking and if needed tipping might all you need to do. Good Luck. Rick F.

When using these you need to use solid core nonresistor wire as the caps have a 5K resistor built into the cap. Hope this helps. Rick F.

they are only available used as they havent been sold new in years. Check ebay and the classifieds here as some will show up from time to time. The important thing is to get the correct spacers that came with the kit or you will need to that your stock one shortened. Hope that helps. Rick F.

He was just in St. Paul, MN last month with Kid Rock. I didnt get to make it as I was working but heard it was an amazing show. They both came out at the end together and performed some songs together. Sounded like they had been wanting to perform together for a while and did a few shows together. Rick F.

I am not sure on the MK I mufflers, but on the MK II, there is a tab on the muffler just like the two on the tips that the springs attach to. I dont have a MK I, but if I remember correctly, they never had the turn down tips. You might need to figure out a different way to attach them to the mufflers. Rick F.

Go with the Sirius!! I did that on my 89 a few years ago and also did the needle valve shim and my mileage is in the mid 40's when I take it easy. Very easy to install and worth the effort. I had a lot of small holes in my old original set. And on a side note, if you are looking for a battery, try Mills Fleet Farm as they have the AGM batteries that are made in the USA by Deka. I was able to pull off the label on the box and it has the Deka label under it. These are some of the best batteries around and the price is right, especially when you can get them on sale. I would have them balanced with the rotors you will be running on the bike. There can be minor differences in each rotor as there are in tires. Might not be much and might not be real noticeable but they could easily affect tire life in the long term as they are a major part of the rotational mass you are trying to balance out. If your front forks are not leaking I would just replace the springs and see how that goes. It is very easy to do and I believe there is an article in the 1st Gen Tech Library on how to do it. Good Luck.. Rick F.

Mine is called "The Mistress" as my wife name it as I was spending way too much fun time and spending way too much money in her words with my 89 VR then I was with her. The name has stuck ever since. Rick F.

I have a 12 Ford Flex with the Ecoboost engine and enjoy it a lot. It has a bunch of get up and go when you hit the pedal and pulls strong thru all speeds. I have towed a small single axle enclosed trailer a couple of times and the engine had no problems going up hills and passing slower vehicles. I usually burn 87 octane gas in it without any issue other then some MPG drop. I have 10K on mine and would buy it again. My biggest issues is my right foot likes to push the go pedal a lot. Rick F.

I have a 2 stage natural gas furnace and it sometimes doesnt light. It has no pilot light as it uses a heating element to light the gas. Mine has a circuit board and I sometimes have to turn off the power to the furnace via a switch that was installed on the side of the unit. I leave it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on and that seems to clear the system board and it relights. I also make sure the thermocouple is clean and use some emery cloth to knock the buildup off of it. I do this as that is what the repair man told me to do and it had worked for the last 15 years. Make sure you have the air filter on the bike as they dont run well without it. You might want to check the choke and make sure it is actually opening or closingas you move the lever. The choke is on the left side of the carbs as you sit on the bike. You will also find a PDF of the service manual in the tech section and you can download it and research it to him you with the carbs. And of course a little seafoam in the tank wont hurt either or in the little tank you test with. Good Luck and let us know how it goes.. Rick F.

Welcome and congrats on the bike. There is only one pouch on the travel trunk and two on the fairing. The left side of the travel trunk as you are sitting on the bike has the radio/intercom controls for the passenger. So it sounds like you have the correct amount for the bike to me.
