Lowering front of genII Venture
yankeereb replied to JerryK's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I lowered my 1 inch following the instructions posted on this site. It has greatly improved the slow speed handling. I do not get any front end wobble. I can also flat foot it now. It is well worth the time to do it. -
I was feeling good, but I got over it.

I have had back problems since i enjured it in the service in 1966. It has gotten progresssively worse over the years. I now have buldging disks in l3 to L5 area and pinched siatic nerve. Some days I have to use a cane to walk. But I still ride and I will until I am forced into a wheel chair. Then I will trike the bike and ride some more.

I use a Brinkman Grill Master smoker with the side fire box. I use charcoal and wood chips. I use apple, cherry, pecan or hickory chips. You want to soak the wood chips for about 4 hrs in water. They will last longer and smoke more. You can add mor or less chips to regulate the flavor of smoke you want in the meatI always put a pan of water in the smoker to keep the meat moist. You can add flavoring such as apple cider, hot sauce, or beer in the water to add additional flavor. You want to keep the heat between 250 and 300 degrees. A good rule of thumb is to smoke 1 hr per pound of meat.

I am leaving in the morning for a road trip to north west Iowa to visit family. I plan to hook up with my brothers and ride into south west Minnesota. I will be back on Monday 9/1.

That is the thread I used last weekend to lower my front end. The instructions are great and the result is well worth the effort. Good Luck and enjoy the ride.

I have to agree with you on finding the information on this site to lower the front end. I found a couple good articles on the tech forum, and lowered the front end on my 08 in about 4 hours. The instructions were great and the results are fantastic. The slow speed handling is so much better. I want to thank all who posted the instructions.

Congrats on the 2nd gen purchase. I love the color. I got an 08 black cherry 3 weeks ago.

My 84 Venture left us stranded on the side of the road once to often. The wife told me to get an new bike. We purchased a 2008 Black Cherry over Raven RSV. The wife loves the comfort of the passenger seat. I do not hear any excessive chirp or whine from the bike. It will take a while to get used to the handling of the 08 over the 84. I have attached a picture of the bike.

I had the same problem with my 84. It turned out that the kick stand switch was sticking. I cleaned the switch and every thing worked.

All I had to show them was a letter from the VA stating that I was disabled and drawing a pension. It took about 15 minutes.

If you are a disabled Veteran drawing a pension of any amount you can get a Golden Access Passport Free. All you have to do is go to any national park and show proof of disability.

Chose yankeereb because I am from Iowa the yankee part. My wife is from Louisiana, the reb part. Used it as an email address for a while and it stuck. I have been a member of this group since August but this is my first post.
