  1. Thanks so much for the info. We are actually staying in Manchester. Are there any good pubs/clubs to go out to in town? I have road some roads out there before. Have stayed in Winchester also and took 50 into Lynchburg. Will have to check out all the other roads that you mentioned. I believe McMinnville is having a BBQ cook off that weekend as well so we may have to check that out. Thanks again for the info. Ride Safe
  2. Myself and a buddy that is also a venture owner are going to be riding out to the world famous Lynchburg TN on Aug 12-14. It is a short trip but it gets us out of town and to an awesome place. We of course will tour the Jack Daniels Distillery, his first (I believe) and my I have lost count. We also have our reservations to the Noon time BBQ lunch at BBQ Hill on the Jack Daniels Distillery property for Aug 13. While out there we will of course get some great country road riding in. So my reason for posting is to see if any of you that have been or live nearby have any recommendations on good roads and eateries. I do know of TN 129 outside of town (not the dragon) is a nice ride. Also if there are any others that might be there local or out-of-towners that may want to meet up. If any of y’all have some input I look forward to the reading.
  3. wish i could see the pictures more clear. Neat concept. again the plate may need to be moved to carrie bc LEO wont be able to see it.
  4. not me either but I was there last year during Laconia bike week. It was one of the motorcycle days and it was nowhere as pretty as any of those pictures posted. It was COLD/Raining at the top. They shut the road down and we were at the top, at least we did not have to worry about anyone coming up on the way down.

    Keys

Thee 99 I know are like that two different keys. I also now that at least from 07 and newer there is one key for everything. I agree with everyone else that is not a NEW from factory bike. 09 CD was standard and one key should do everything. I would be raising A LOT of questions.
  6. Glad you had fun out here in the Apps. Wish I had known you were this way could have meet up for riding the dragon. I usually make day trips out there only about 650+ round trip with riding the dragon, cherohala skyway, and some other good back road twisties. I have to agree the Rockies and the Apps are completely different. I enjoy getting out west though and riding. I only make it out there every few years. I am heading back out next year 2012 heading back to Sturgis/Black hills. It is a fun trip and I try to take differnt routes to get more states under my belt. Glad you had a safe trip here and back. Come back out east anytime and enjoy the nice younger mountain range and its great twistie roads. There are many great ones that aren't so advertised just off the beaten path. Less traffic and more enjoyable. Ride Safe ~Rubber down, paint up~
  7. I agree warrior bring a tent and camp on someone else's site. They may not even charge you.
  8. If the light bar is the Yamaha one then yes the turn signals are the stock OEM ones. The turn signals hang directly under the driving lights. I belive the rear and front are the same other than maybe one is a two prong (run/turn) and one is only one prong (turn).
  9. yes 100% stock for cb other than i did put mic mutes on. which i would suppose would mess with the tuning but i have no clue.
  10. Ok sounds good let me know when and I will def try to ride down. Maybe my buddy Joe 'Moose' also a venture rider will have his replaced or ready to replace by then too and we can knock out all of ours. Thanks so much for the offer.
  11. Thanks for the advice. I dont think i need that type of range on the bike tho being most of the time the group is no more than like 10 bikes large. so maybe a few miles should work for me, lol. i just need it to transmit much better. I will look up shops.
  12. I think my cb is out of tune. I can hear what people are saying pretty clear but everyone says they can not understand me to well. If we are sitting still and close together everything is fine but on the road it isn't. I have never tuned a CB so I know nothing about it. I do know that i have to set my squelch up high to like 18 or 20 so that I am not picking up other channels transmitting. When I ask the other riders if they hear the other channels they always say no. If anyone can help me out with this thanks.
  13. I will admit mounting a CT on the MT rim is "FUN" LOL. I have mounted two of the kuhmo tires and had to put A LOT of tire GUPE/Lube on the tire and but the presure up to around 90-100. it will set but takes some working. Heating the tire in the sun and then mounting would make it much easier. Have fun out in cody.
  14. I dont know what others have towed with a 1st gen but I tow my Aspen classic camper with my 07 RSV. I have not had any problems yet. I will say it does push a little when stopping (no brakes on camper) and it will push a little with bad winds or a 18 wheeler passing you. Other than that i have pulled it from NC to FL with ease. I am sure there are others that have pulled a camper longer than i have and tell more. I just got mine a year ago but have been pulling cargo trailers since 03.
  15. Eck, Thanks. I am not changing anything on a tour deluxe though. I am changing stuff on my RSV. I am going with RSTD bars on my RSV. I ran across a complete set of lines/cables for the RSTD bars. They are the upgraded SS cables that Yamaha has in their catalog (Brand New and stock length for RSTD). The price was perfect at half the cost of msrp with free shipping. I know the RSTD Bars are wider, taller, and more pull-back and these cables are made for these specific bars, so..... I knew the RSTD is the exact same set up as the RSV minus the trunk and fairing. I just wanted to make sure that Yamaha did not use different banjo bolts or anything crazy like that between the two models. Thanks for the re-insurance that this should work.
  16. Maybe some will chime in whit some insight that can help.
  17. I have to say Spencer, I really enjoy my bagger shield. Looking forward to seeing the wider version.
  18. BUMP.... Does no one know if there is a difference or not? I would hate to assume because everyone knows what that does. I would think that the cables and hoses are not any different on how they hook up, other than the length of the hoses and cables are long for the tour deluxe. Can any one prove my hypothesis correct or wrong?
  19. I have been looking and can not find this anywhere on the forum or online. so I will ask. Is there any difference in the cables and hoses on the venture vs the tour deluxe? Other than the deluxe are longer to accomadate the taller and more pullback the bars have compared to the venture. Just curious.
  20. I noticed that to right now when i clicked on the link. I guess I will just wait and test ride at a show now and not deal with the dealers around here. too bad i dont have the postcard.
  21. pm sent solodadof2
  22. Does any one have a set of stock RSTD weights from replacing the grips? I have an offer for stock rstd bars just dont believe the weights are included because they used them for the new bar change out.
  23. ok thank you for the insight. Robert
  24. why won't the RSV weights work with the RSTD bars? The look the exact same. Robert
  25. Glad to read that the both of you are making good progress. That is one of the things I worry about every time I throw my leg over one of my bikes. No matter how many times you check air pressure we can never determine if we will ever have a flat. God Bless and take it easy. Robert 'TheKid'
