Do you have a i-pad
heatonmt replied to heatonmt's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
will I think the thing to do is get the wife a Kindle yes will use it to read book and it looks easy for here to use. I think it has more free books then the others and the cost of the books looks good also. That being said not sure I don't need to buy me a i-pad to carry on the bike. -

Electrical Problem
heatonmt replied to Sgt.Keele's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I just went through this and it was a hard one to find. Mine was a wire with a bad connection at the rectifier, regulator. It could be your rectifier, regulator. They charged every thing in the charging system be for they found it. Are you getting 14 volts at the battery with the bike running? -
Does Yamaha sell one for there bike? It may cost more if they do but how often to you change it.
-
I think it is all about it was easy. For me thats not good. I would think it was put on the bike with the wires on top to protect them and keep something from the road from bouncing up and hitting the plug. Could you Imagen being 500 miles from home something bouncing up and taking out that plug or even cutting the wires. NOT GOOD.
-
OK I was looking at my bike were they install the rectifier, regulator and I seen something that just does not look right to me. The plug and wires are attracted to the bottom to and hanging down. I would think it should be up in the bike as to not be exposed to the ground could someone take a look at this for me on there bike to see if it is right.

I am going to buy a set from BUBS and it will be just a replacement. I would think 1 hour or so does that sound right.

well I went in to talk to the dealer about a new bike as it has been 2 months now. I went back to the shop and he said we fixed your bike it turns out it was a connection at the regulator. Be for I left we agreed that if this bike battery goes dead this time the bike would be replaced. So I took off got up Wednesday morning and put 125 miles on the bike battery still up. I think it is fix just one more thing to be thankful for to day. god has blessed me and at the end of the day I need to leave thing like this to him I did before I went to the dealer and he did take care of it. A happy Thanksgiving to all.

how mush time does it take to change out slip-ons. Do I need new donut gaskets or can I reuse the old ones. Is it a must to re-tune the carbs.
-
Has anyone put BUB slip on mufflers on the RSTD. Was it easy install do they sound good , are you glad you did ?
-
thank you Goose but if it is not fixed this time They will replace this bike.
-
Well I call Yamaha. I told them about the bike and told them I was giving the dealer just one more Chance to fix this. I went into the shop today to talk to owner of the shop. When I got there he said they had found the problem (not the first time I heard that) He said there was a wire with a bad connection at the rectifier, regulator. and that the bike was charging now and would be OK. Before i lift the shop we came to a understanding that if the bike was not fixed this time that it would be replaced. I have high hopes that it i fixed.
