  1. just to drop a line my leave date has been changed to july 8th
  2. Just picked up a Garmin GPSmap 478 on the weekend, pricey but I've looked and found this to be what I was looking for. Now, if I can figure out how to use it before I leave for the rally... http://www3.telus.net/drbar/pics/478.jpg
  3. My wife and I are going to St Louis, MO for a relatives birthday part around July 4th so we thought we would take a ride to the Ozarks first. We have not been there before so we are looking for some suggestions about lodging etc. We are going to leave on Wednesday July 1 and will need to be in the St Louis area by late afternoon on the 3rd, it does not leave us a lot of time we know that. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I'm tearing apart my forks on my '83 VR. Concerning the anti-dive units on the lower front forks, do I remove the unit from the forks or do I remove the brake line at the banjo bolt and leave the anti-dive unit attached to the forks? Thanks
  5. Okay, first off, I did a search on this topic and haven't found a single thread about alarms. Nothing under 'alarms', 'anti theft' or 'security devices' so if I've erred, sue me! Now that we got that out of the way.......... Living in a so-so neighbourhood, with a one car garage/one truck driveway, I pretty well need to leave my bike outside at the front of the house cause the missus just doesn't have the strength to move it around when she leaves for work. Since I don't have any neighbours with Harley's to park next to (think about it! *L*), I have to leave my ride out there sitting all alone when I'm off to work. Soooooo.....I've been researching a few alarms for the bike and wonder if anyone out there could offer me some advice. The one I'm leaning towards is the Scorpio Alarm SR-i600 FM 2-Way Paging Security System with Anti-Hijack, Perimeter Sensor, Battery Back-up (and more) from cruisercustomizing.com. Anyone familiar with this alarm? It gets some pretty good reviews. Got some better suggestions? Thanks again in advance...... Bluez
  6. leave it to me to manage to piss off the APA......... without goin into detail......some of the things( i posted about this the other day) he told me pertaining to the weakness of our case didnt sit right with me......so of course i went and spoke with the detective from the local LE...and found out some things he said were wrong....which upset the local leo's which in turn called the APA..... (this is the one that took over because the other is on maternity leave.) anyways now today after letting me know he was upset..:8:and that his relationship with my local pd is tarnished... he told me he is just filling in and the other will take back over when she returns in may.....hmm ya know what, if i could make him mad by this and he would turn it back to her....then this makes me feel like maybe he wouldnt have fought hard enough for us... I spoke to our advocate this afternoon and she told me not to worry about it.....I told her they all need to realize i am not going to be a passive bystander, if something doesnt sit right I WILL check it out....I told her, this is just his job, but its my life! oh well.....i guess im starting to believe maybe i am a
  7. Im going to Don's MD and im leaveing from cincinnati just wanted to know if any one would be in the area heading that way i plan to leave on friday morning-ish just want to know if any one wanted some company on the ride up? Ron
  8. Due to all the snow and ACTS OF NATURE we had in my town, our school system will be open on June 5th, the day that we planned to leave for Freebirds. I do not know what we will be able to do now. I guess we have to leave really early on Saturday. Do not like riding in the dark on those early morning expressway trips. We will figure out something. Yama Mama:big-grin-emoticon:
  9. A fellow rider coach sent me this. Ouch that will leave a mark. Rod
  10. I took them off today... Easy and it looks so much cleaner, my thoughts anyway. Know i'm looking at the eyebrows . Prob leave them on

  12. In case you are a newbie to Venturerider.org and/or don't know this already...during this holiday season all ventureriders must follow these tips: 1.) Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls. 2.) Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly, It's rare. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat, enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas! 3.) If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on, make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy, eat the volcano. Repeat. 4.) As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission. 5.) Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello? 6.) Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog. 7.) If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again. 8.) Same for pies, apple, pumpkin, mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day? 9.) Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards. 10.) One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" Have a great holiday season
  13. It has been a while since I had time to log in. Driving around the clock, non stop. This is the first day I have had a few minutes to relax. My oldest is home for the holidays. He has 30 days leave. The wife is already happier. All is good. It has been a rough year for us. Our daughter has abandoned her two boys here 3 yrs & 18 months and is pregnant again and living with said puke. Needless to say wife and I are stressed but hanging in there. Best thing is that he brought his new V-max home to leave it here for storage. Seems the Armys regs are becoming too strict for him to be able to ride it. So here it will sit {except for a occasional romp by yours truly}. YES!:thumbsup2:

  18. If anyone is planning on attending the ride to St. Jude Childrens Hospital on Oct 18, let me know as I am trying to organize a group of riders from this area to ride to Memphis to meet up with others to make the donation for Squidley's "Getting Inked For St. Jude" Rmember this is in Honor of Mean Dog and benefits the kids at St. Jude Hospital. A group of us went last year and it was fantastic. This will be an early morning leave time or we might even leave sometime Friday afternoon, and spend the night in Memphis before going to St. Jude. Need some input so we can start making plans. This is the thread about the fundraiser ............ http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26475
  19. What does the California emissions do to the 85's? Should I leave it alone?Or....
  20. I got a voicemail on my phone this afternoon, "Hey 86er, this is WildHair and I'm at a rest stop on I20 about 50 miles out of the Atl. Give me a call!" (Kinda!) So I called him back and said "C'mon down!" He showed up at about 7:30 and we drank some beer and told some lies. I told him that I go to bed at about 9 pm and get up at about 5:30 to leave for work a little after 6. He said he'll try to sleep that late!!! I'll send him off to the Muffinman (and eventually Lake Placid) in the morning!!
  21. I have a new gasket that I don't need due to my bike having a new owner. If anyone needs one, let me know and I will mail it to you. If I have time, I will send it before I go on my elopement. We will be leaving for Hot Springs early Wed. morning and will not be back until Sunday. If I don't get it to you before I leave, I will see you get it next week. Please double check the part number to make sure it is the one you need. Thanks.
  22. Bikes loaded, jumping in the shower, then taking Krome Rose out for breakfast before hitting the road to Herndon VA. Hopefully I have time to hook up with some of you who live in the area. Not too sure how much time I will have. My co-worker who went to this course earlier this month said the classes started at 8 am and ended at 7 pm. Doesn't leave much time for anything else. Tuesday might be the only day I get out at a decent time since that's the end of the first class I am taking. Like I said I hope I can hook up with some of you, but not too sure. If not then hopefully we can get together in Asheville.
  23. We have 3 couples planning a vacation through the Northeast in August starting at Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. Problem is: 2 of the guys will be "carrying handguns" and have ccw license. Is there any place we can check these in on the American side until we get back fm Canada? We could leave them home but we really don't want to. I'd appreciate any help on this besides the obvious of leaving them home. Eddie Flinchum--Central Kentucky
  24. :173:May not be the right place to post this but I have to tell someone since the emails were already sent out by my wife to tell everyone else about it! We welcomed our first grandson into this world yesterday at 4:30 P.M. Seven pounds and four ounces and twenty inches long. Mom and baby are both doing great and ready to go home already. Its hard to believe that I am actually a grandpa at 42 years old but I wouldnt trade this feeling for anything in the world! Looks like I may have to ride all alone for awhile since grandma wont leave the baby for anything.
  25. &n bsp; Prime Minister John Howard - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom' 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!' 'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.' 'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.' 'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.' :clap2::clap2:
