  1. My friends, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a great start in the new year. As for me, well here is my story For months I was talking about nothing else than our trip to Germany. I had not spend christmas with my family for over 23 years and Alan had never been there, so it was even more exciting for him. However, as it turned out, NOTHING happened the way we imagined it. My parents big 50th wedding aniversary party was canceled. My dad is in the hospital in a koma, awaiting a tripple by pass (the second time) IF he recovers. I never had a chance to even talk to him, but I wispered in his ears that I would come back to see him when he comes home. Christmas eve without him was not the same. Than Alan and I both got the flu. Not what you want when you an vacation. To make matters even worse, my best friend's husband (age 51) past away two weeks prior to our arrival. She did'n want to spoil my christmas with her news, so she waited to tell me until I got there. It hit me like a hammer, we've been friends for 20 years. Needless to say , there was no party either. We did managed to do some side seeing and Alan loved driving on the Autobahn ( no speed limid). This is the short version of our trip to Germany. Nothing but sadness all around. We are so happy to be back home. Yeap, and the new year is not starting off very good either. I'm sitting in a hotel somewhere in Hammond Indiana for two days, waiting for my truck to be repaired (needs an aircompressor), and that on my first load out. I sure hope the rest of the year will be better. ON A LIGHTER NOTE Alan and I spend the New Years at the casino. He won $1200 and I $2000. It sure comes in handy for not going to work the last two weeks. So, that's it, I wish I had some thing better to tell you all. Please keep my dad in your prayers. I wish you all a wonderful and happy New Year Al & Renate
  2. Cops accused of Toys for Tots thefts ‘tarnished’ police’s image, official says By Freeman Klopott Examiner Staff Writer 12/25/08 The four District of Columbia police officers reportedly caught on tape stealing from Toys for Tots “tarnished” the department’s image, a police official said. Police confirmed that the four officers had been put on desk jobs as internal affairs investigates them for stealing toys. Officials said if the officers did take the toys intended for the city’s youth, they will be prosecuted. On Christmas Day, the department’s community outreach director, Yvonne Smith, fired off a message to an e-mail network for residents of the Southeast D.C. neighborhood where the thefts allegedly occurred. Smith wrote that she’d hoped to see Christmastime news coverage include positive stories about police outreach in one of the city’s poorest, most crime-plagued neighborhoods — the 6th District in Southeast Washington — instead of a tale about the strong victimizing the weak. The story of the four officers accused of taking the toys “starts off Christmas on a sour note, puts distance between the community and the police, and worst of all, tarnishes the image of the Department during a time when we are trying to build strong relationships to foster trust that ultimately helps us solve crimes,” Smith wrote. As police officials released few details on the investigation on Christmas Eve, police cadets were unloading a van stuffed with toys at Sursum Corda and Potomac Gardens Public Housing Developments, Smith wrote. “People of all ages ran out and surrounded them, taking toys and saying, ‘the police have never done anything like this here,’ ” she wrote, highlighting how police outreach can benefit relations with the community. “Please don’t let the Christmas story of the day be about an investigation of officers who make up .001 percent of the department,” Smith concluded. “Many many many more members made outstanding contributions during this holiday season to make a difference in the lives of families who are struggling.” Two of the accused officers worked for the department’s youth services division, and the four were caught on tape taking the toys, WJLA reported. 17. Just wanted to say from our home to all of you, a safe and Merry Christmas. At a time when everything is so commercialized, I always try to remember what is important to us, whether it is the religious significance, family or quiet reflection, I ask that we take a moment to remember those if us are going through difficult times and ask for a moment for them. I have grown to care very deeply for everyone on this wonderful place and consider each of you family. So, most of all on this day I wish you all peace.
  18. I normally just read the threads unless I think I can help or add something but I very much wanted to... Wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Great 2009! Take care, Tom

  20. God Bless and have a great day! http://f814.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f18928%5fAIPHjkQAALUCSVE3aQpj%2b1S8TPw&pid=1.2&fid=Inbox&inline=1 I will be making a conscious effort to wish everyone a Merry Christmas this year ... My way of saying that I am celebrating the birth Of Jesus Christ. So I am asking my email buddies, if you agree with me, to please do the same. And if you'll pass this on to your email buddies, and so on... maybe we can prevent one more American tradition from being lost in the sea of "Political Correctness". http://f814.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f18928%5fAIPHjkQAALUCSVE3aQpj%2b1S8TPw&pid=1.3&fid=Inbox&inline=1 May you be blessed in your celebration of our Savior's birth AMEN!!!!! Merry Christmas!! wild hair -----Inline Attachment Follows-----

  22. Merry Christmas to all of our wonderful members and visitors here. As the year comes to an end, I can only look back and be thankful for all the wonderful friends that have joined together here to become a family. Some of you I have met, others I hope to meet in the future but all are an important part of what we have built here. In spite of all the negative things that are going on in the world around us, I know that I can always come here and see so much good being done by so many of you here and I know that because of people like you, our future is bright. Here is a little clip from a classic animated movie that says it better than I can. God Bless each and every one of you.
