  1. I have my new cell phone number now listed in my Profile. Please update this change in your cell phone contact list. Boomer....who now has a Loozeeanner phone number.
  2. Buzzman ( Will Rogers) will be flying into Austin area tonight (3-12-11) for an emergency job. Don't know how buzy he will be,but said he might have time to meet members for dinner tonight or Sunday or Monday night. His cell number 419-344-2078 If your free-call him and maybe you can meet a new member. We been friends for 30 yrs--so I know he won't mind me posting this. Gil
  3. If you think people can't see you on your bike, then watch this. They can't even see the lights or large objects in front of them. People driving must be either daydreaming, on the cell, sleeping, on drugs, or something serious enough to distract them from the obvious. Sorry, if this has already been posted before. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=-qvXbIenivk
  4. Seen this this morning and did not know it. Watch video. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/video?id=7621105&syndicate=syndicate&section
  5. I'll try to explain what I'm trying to do....more for fun than any real need. I'm doing a book keeping spreadsheet. On a summary page, I have a formula that adds the numbers in a column based on the "code" found in the next cell. This helps me to track different sources of income, each one with it's own code =SUMIF(A4:A85,U93,E4:E85) so this formula says to compare the letter code found the cells A4 to A85 and IF they are the same as the comparison cell (U93) then return the SUM of the value from cells E4 to E85. This formual is repeated IN DIFFERENT CELLS with different comparison cell codes. (U94, or U95) I want create a similar formula to read a name found anywhere in a range of cells and if it is there, to then print that name in another cell. (on the summary page) yet, not have other cells repeat that name ....AND.... if that name is not in that range of cells, to allow a different name to be returned in that same cell I can't use the same formula because I am asking for text...not numbers. in much the same manner, I can look at the range of cells, and return a number associated with that company name =SUMIF(B11:B89,"Hydro One",J11:J89) ...asking it to give me the SUM of payouts found in cells J11 to J89, as long as "Hydro One" is contained somewhere in the range of cells from B11 to B89 This formula works fine when I ask it to look at a single cell. =IF(B11=R101,"company name","") so in the cell on the summary page... the formula looks to see if cell B:11 contains the same name as the comparison cell (R101), if it does, it displays "Company name", if that exact name is not found , it displays nothing ("") When I ask it to look at a range of cells it returns the "false" value ("") because that specific text is not in every cell of the range. I THOUGHT it would check the entire range of cells to see if that name is in ANY of the cells....but it is actually checking ot ensure the name is in ALL of the cells =IF(B11:B85=R101,"company name","") What formula can I use to get it to check a range of cells, and return a name from a multiple choice of 5 companies. Of course if any name is already used in that cell then it has to just forget about the whole thing and move on. The next cell below would do the same until all the vendors are listed along with their totals. Any suggestions...perhaps a macro? I could just type in in...but what's the fun in that?

    cell phones

After reading about the Ural rider being killed pulling onto the thruway got me to remembering about the one very close call we had coming home from our recent west trip. We too were pulling back on the freeway after stopping to stretch and relax at a rest stop. As I was pulling onto the merging lane and accelerating I looked over my left shoulder and seen 2 cars in the passing lane. So the coast is clear. You would think. The idiot in the second car talking on his cell phone decided to pull back into the driving lane what must have been right after my coast is clear look. Needless to say I'm doing the last sway into the driving lane and I HEAR not see this low rumble right beside me and a fender close enough to polish. Whoa were did you come from! Scared the bejesus out of us. I asked the wife were did he come from and she said she didn't know. She said she looked too when were were entering the thruway and didn't see anything in the driving lane either. Needless to say I was livid and quite upset but the wife said let him go. So I follow this guy for several more miles. He was everywhere without ever touching a signal once. I finally had enough and caught up with him to at least read him my extreme happiness at the top of my lungs along with pointing out a few flying birds. Again I was chastised by the wife which I had to point out to her that she was setting up a double standard. She asked how. Which made me laugh, so I had to remind her of her own happy verses and pointing out of birds that I've seen her do on more than one occasion. Guess where I'm going with this is I HATE CELL PHONES, THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO NOT WORK WHEN ANY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. MANKIND LIVED BEFORE THEY WERE INVENTED AND MORE OF US WOULD PROBABLY BE LIVING NOW IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN!

Thom
  9. I have a 1993 VR. I just installed a cigarette lighter for charging my cell phone. I tested the cigarette lighter with the lighter, no issues, in 20 seconds it was hot and popped out (as expected). I plugged in my cell phone car charger adapter and in a couple of seconds I heard a loud pop and smoke coming from my adapter. I hooked red (center wire) to positive terminal and black wire to negative terminal. What did I do wrong? Thank you.
  10. Just saw this today. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Your-Own-Hot-Spot-and-nytimes-362333608.html So for $40/month, unlimited internet accesss via a wifi hotspot with built-in cell network connectivity. From Virgin. Thats what I'm paying for DSL and it isn't very portable. I'm already using voice over internet for my telephone service and just have a pay per usage cell phone for emergencies.
  11. Just got a call about them finding a cell phone in the area of D-21 which is where we camped. If you lost one, call 828-686-3121 and it may be yours. RandyA
  12. We stopped in Sheridan Wy to do a little shopping and pick up some groceries and gas for the space shuttle. I was just coming up to the intersection to get back on the I-90 and a guy pulls out of gas station with a boat on a trailer and lucky for him it was me he cut off. Just as he pulled out I put my foot on the brakes and I see something fall from his vehicle. It was his wallet, full of cash, credit cards and ID. I stopped right on top of it and Mary went out and gathered up as much as she could without getting run over. She is sure she didn't get all the cash. By now the guy is booting it up the on ramp and way out ahead. No chance to catch him with the shuttle, even with the Ultra Power upgrade. So what should I do? By the time I got on the hwy. he was out of sight. I pulled over at the first opportunity and went thought the wallet looking for a phone number and all I found was a personal check with a phone number but the last two digits couldn't be read. There was a business card for a county parole officer (don't jump to conclusions) so I called the number but the women didn't work there any more. The guy I talked to did some digging and came up with a cell number. I tried it, no answer, but the recorded message was by the guy so I left a message with my cell number. Haven't heard anything yet but we're at Devils Tower tonight and there's no cell reception. If I don't hear anything tomorrow I guess I'll just pack it all in an envelope and ship it back to him. My dilemma is that I have no idea how much money might have blown away and I don't want him thinking I stoled it. We found one, hundred dollar bill but who knows how many there were? I was in the middle of the road holding up traffic and wasn't too worried about a few that got away.
  13. Ok...I'm trying to avoid a rant here but after 7 years with the same provider they ticked me off for the last time. I shut off my account for both my own and my daughters cell phones. So I'll avoid the reasons why at this point and go directly to my search for a new provider. I haven't looked at other providers for the last seven years so I've been kind of out of the loop on whats what. Stopped at a couple of others to check out the plans and been Googling the daylights out of my 'puter since I got home. I'm leaning towards Verizon at this point. So.....any comments good or bad on them? Their sales staff were attentive to my needs and offered up a pretty decent package, or so it seems until I finish reading all the fine print. Along that line anyone using them and the VZ Navigator app? I'm fine without a cell for a few days ..or longer...but I'm doing CPR on my 18 year old daughter every ten minutes. I don't know if she's going to make it through the night. I cut that girls cord 18 years ago and she survived this long.....but this time I may have killed her. Any comments would help save a life.......probably mine! Mike
  14. I have an HTC HERO sprint cell phone I am looking for a cable to hook to my laptop so I can get the internet on my laptop from my cell phone. Someone mentioned a patch cable where do I find this and do I need any software with it. Joe
  15. Which cell phone and service has the best GPS and gives the best/easiest system when requesting info directions ? Cb
  16. Since my sweetie is my full-time navigator (along with my GPS device), I often will give her the assignment to also be my on-board photographer when we are riding. In addition to either our video camera or still cameras, she will also sometimes have to look-up information on my GPS or cell phone while we are riding. This involves her handling some rather expensive devices which I would be pretty upset if she happened to accidentally drop one of them. Now, my cameras have wrist straps on them, so they are pretty safe. But, neither my Garmin GPS or my Motorola Droid have wrist straps. Has anyone here figured-out a way to attach some sort of simple, safety tether to a small portable, electronic device? I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually manufacturers them. I'm thinking of something similar to one of these: http://www.kabletek-flexweave.com/flexweave.htm I'm just not sure how I would attach something like this to a cell phone, GPS or an iPod. Any suggestions? I'm sure this isn't an original idea. Thanks guys! Be Safe! Pete.
  17. Sometimes only a picture can get our attention! Her last call was from a new cell phone... Do you see the motorcycle? http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f127876%5fAJPHjkQAAIu1S%2bGY%2fwYk5xK8Kw4&pid=2&fid=Inbox&inline=1 Now do you see it? http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f127876%5fAJPHjkQAAIu1S%2bGY%2fwYk5xK8Kw4&pid=3&fid=Inbox&inline=1 http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f127876%5fAJPHjkQAAIu1S%2bGY%2fwYk5xK8Kw4&pid=4&fid=Inbox&inline=1 http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f127876%5fAJPHjkQAAIu1S%2bGY%2fwYk5xK8Kw4&pid=5&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place. All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department.. Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be new drivers, or new motorcycle owners AND ESPECIALLY EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO HAS A CELL PHONE!!!!! A picture is worth a thousand words. Save a life… Stop talking on Cell phones and Texting while trying to drive. The life you save may be your own..... or mine...
  18. Just got the word, my friend has a condo at Daytona Beach and I will leave out this Friday or Saturday for Daytona and plan to stay the whole week. There will be six of us going and I am the only one riding down on my bike (of course I am the oldest); I haven't riden 575 miles at one time before but I think I can make it okay. The reason for the posting is that I hope to meet some of my VentureRider buddies so if you have some time to goof off, give me a call and maybe we can hook up. My cell no. is (919) 801-0751. I'm looking forward to this trip; I've spent time working on my bike, new rear tire, switching around the brake pads, changing oil, etc. and I'm ready. Sunny Florida - I'm coming.
  19. OK, my 15 y.o. daughter has distroyed 2 'el cheepo' LG AT&T freebe cell phones. The first was just barely replaced under warantee, but now the warantee has expired and the second is hanging on by a thread. She's a texting machine. I've looked at Ebay, but don't trust the sellers. She's also not eligible for some type of phone upgrade until next november thru AT&T. I don't know squat about all these new gizmo cells available on the market, and wonder if anyone could suggest a model that won't break the bank, and that's good to use with texting??? HELP.....!!!
  20. In a recent thread and cell phone use, a few people were talking about the safety of newer cars than old. I can across this clip earlier today, I though it was eye opening. 21. Has anyone one heard of placing a few drops of javex in each cell in half dead battery to get a full charge?? ??
  22. The picture didnt come out but this battery from Batteries Plus stores is plain crap. I bought my first one last year and right out of the box it had a bad cell. They replaced it and off I went. 8 Months later it dropped another cell. My charging system was working fine but I went ahead and repalced the starter solenoid just in case. Sat morning we headed out to Daytona and stopped for gas about 5 miles from the house. Went to start it and poof...nothing. Trailered it home, pulled the battery Sunday and took it to Batteries Plus today. Yep, dropped another cell. He also informed me that it was out of warranty but he will honor it since I had such bad luck with it. I had him credit me and special order a stock Yuasa, which will take a week to get in. Only cost me 10 bucks difference. Local Yammie dealer wants 135 for his. Bottom line, while Batteries Plus bent over backwards to accomodate me, their batteries aint worth the plastic theyre wrapped in. Their Oddesy batteries were 169.00 so ill just stick with the Yuasas now. http://www.batteriesplus.com/products/59-CC/5380-Motorcycle-Batteries/340611-Yamaha/2007-DASH--DASH-1996/XVZ1300-Royal-Star/images/Product/icon/32753.jpgXtreme Permaseal High Performance AGM Jet Ski, Powersport Battery - XTAX20HL-BS
  23. I live in Rome, Georgia and last week a woman saw my 2nd gen and told me her husband had a venture for sale. Today I had a chance to take a few pictures with my cell phone and talk with the son-in-law of the owner. It is a white Venture Royale and I am told it is a 1983. I saw some of the fairings that had been removed and the son-in-law said everything is there except for the headlght cowling. I have been told that the bike runs but the carbs need a lot of help and the starter solenoid is bad. The owner is bypassing the solenoid to start the bike. I didn't ask to start it because it was raining today and the bike is parked outside with a tarp covering it from the windshield to the trunk but not covering the sides or front forks/wheel. I pulled back the tarp for a few minutes to get the attached photos. The owner is asking $1000 but I suspect he will take less. This would probably be a good parts or project bike. Unfortunately I didn't get the mileage but I can get this if needed. I don't know much about what to look for on a 1st gen so please call me on my cell 706-346-1886 and I will try to get whatever info you need or I can provide the name and cell phone for the owner. Quillian
  24. Just broke kickstand on my 87 VR. The top flange and bolt shearred off. If anyone has these parts for sale, please call me on cell phone: 304-707-7146 (my computer is down and my wife put this on her computer at work) Thanks, Bob
  25. In the news today, Virginia Tech Transportation Institute has found that drivers text messaging increase their collision risk by 23 times than when not texting! On the cell phone when driving 6x the greater risk. Why are drivers doing this in the first place? Why would they want to live with the nightmare of being responsible for the injuring or the fatality of a bicyclist, pedestrian, motorcyclist, etc... Some states it is illegal and others it is not? Why? My opinion...all governments need to place huge fines on these people using these devices when driving. Thankfully, I don't know of anyone yet who has been involved in an accident, due to using a cell phone while driving.
