  1. Cletus is passing by Billy Bob's hay barn one day when, through a gap in the door, he sees Billy Bob doing a slow and sensual striptease in front of an old green John Deere. Buttocks clenched, he performs a slow pirouette, and gently slides off first the right strap of his overalls, followed by the left. He then hunches his shoulders forward and in a classic striptease move, lets his overalls fall down to his hips, revealing a torn and frayed plaid shirt. Then, grabbing both sides of his shirt, he rips it apart to reveal his stained T-shirt underneath. With a final flourish, he tears the T-shirt from his body, and hurls his baseball cap onto a pile of hay. Having seen enough, Cletus rushes in and says, "What the heck're ya doing, Billy Bob?" "Good Lord, Cletus, ya scared the bejeezers out of me," says an obviously embarrassed Billy Bob. "But me 'n the Ol' Lady been havin trouble lately in the bedroom dee-partment, and the therapist suggested I do something sexy to a tractor." [Don't make me come splain this to you! ]
  2. Hope everyone had a great Christmas... We sure did. We enjoyed :canada:Hal and Gayle's:canada: company for Christmas. It was a big surprise for Shari and the kids...They never saw it coming. They were upgraded this time and allowed to sleep in the house because there was too much snow in the driveway.. :rotfl::rotfl: They were getting ready to leave and we got a call from Scooter Bob..Karen and Bob were on their way back from visiting family and wanted to stop by... So we got to share alot of laughs and cocktails with great friends. Thanks for visiting us in the northwoods....Our door is always open..
  3. There is a guy who owns a circus but finds that he is in need of a lion tamer. He places ads in the usual places and gets a response from 2 that are interested. Billy Bob and a youg, pretty, woman show up for the job. The owner explains that he only needs one tamer at this time and asks each if they are sure that they want the job as the lion is very vicious and mean and has killed the last tamer. Each says that they still want the job. The owner says that he will let each have a turn with the lion and which ever one does the best will get the job. He asks who will go first and the girl volunteers. She goes in the cage and immediately the lion lungs at her and she opens her coat and is completely naked. The lion stops just short of her and smells of her feet, and works his way up her body, smelling and licking his way to her face. He jumps up and puts his paws on her shoulders and licks her all over her face and gets down and lays at her feet. The owner says to Billy Bob, thats the damndest thing that I have ever seen; can you top that Billy Bob? Billy Bob says, (I don't know but if you get that damn lion out of there I will sure try to.)
  4. It's a 1999 Green one, 4,955 miles on it, got it for $1,650. Hopefully we got enough snow last night to get the trails opened up around here! Later, Scooter Bob

  6. Today was the 5th annual Emily Keyes Memorial Parade. In No one remembers, you can go to www.iloveuguys.org and read the story about "the ride". According to the police, there were OVER 5,000 bikes there today. After walking around, I found 5 other late 80's VR!!! I KNOW there were many more newer models and possibly more of the older models. It was Amazing. It was my Brother-in-laws FIRST ride with more than just 2 or 3 people. He loved it. We met a wonderful member of Venturerider.org, Bob, i think his name was. I had a small problem with my kickstand saftey switch and he tried to help. THANK YOU BOB!!!! I appreciate it!! I also send a THANK YOU for all the riders that were there today. It was a GREAT day for a ride!!! I could only imagine what 5,000 VR's would be like!!! Thanks for letting me ramble on!!!
  7. Here's the first 3 bikes that showed up for our annual ABATE Memorial Dice Run.http://tapa.tk/mu/a6ea5d67-8639-210d.jpg Later, Scooter Bob
  8. First I would like to thank Atlanta Dragonslayer for the assistance given yesterday. As I told you I am a beginner in every sense of the word, when it comes to motorcycles. I did as you suggested and as of now it seems to have solved the problem. It looks to me like I finally made a good decision when I decided to join Venture Rider. I am not usually big on joining anything, but the help given by a total stranger, although it may not have been a big thing blew me away. I am sure that any of the other Venture Rider members, who have had anything to do with Bob can attest to the fact that he is Venture Rider through and through. He sold me on the fact that this is the place to be as an owner of a first generation Venture for tech help as well as anything else pertaining to these bikes. I hope that with some guidance from the rest of members, I can someday be able to help someone the way I was helped. Thank you again Bob.
  9. Would someone take a look their first gen center stand and let me know if the spring is compressed or extended while the scooter is on the center stand. I just got the parts in to put the lever arm and spring on so I can use the center stand but not sure which way it goes. The way I think it supposed to go gives me the suspiscion my spring is too long. Thank you, Bob
  10. Our MTA group is headed for the Letchworth State Park in New York the weekend of July 16th. I have been looking for some place with 7 or 8 rooms available that don't cost an arm and a leg. Is there anyone here that may know of a good local place in the area (willing to ride 20-30 miles to get to the park) that is clean and reasonable. thanks, bob
  11. Had my GPS on my "new to me" 2000 Venture. I noticed that my speedometer was over estimating my speed by about 10% vs. my GPS. I am assuming that the GPS is accurate. Any thoughts on what could be up with the bike that would make the speedometer overestimate? Thanks, Bob
  12. RJD

    back up fuse

I blew a fuse for my passing lights, so I had the cover off the fuse box. there is a fuse in there marked "back up fuse" Since I don't have any back up lights, I am wondering what that fuse is connected to. I have the fuse pulled right now and everything still seems to be working Bob
  13. Look who I found today while out for a putt. Alive and well, well at least alive. He's been too busy truckin' to visit this sight, and worse yet, too busy to ride. And he's off to Canada in the morning. Hang in there Dan, you'll be back at it soon, we hope. Later, Scooter Bob
  14. As most of you know by now, Bob Edwards departed this world yesterday, Friday April 30th, 2010. Many of you also know that Bob was a co-founder of the Venturers Motorcycle Club along with my self in 1997. Here is a short excerpt from the Venturers history page. "In early 1997 Bob Edwards purchased a 1983 Yamaha Venture touring motorcycle. Living in the small state of Rhode Island with few sources of information, he resorted to the World Wide Web, looking for any references about this rig. Soon he found a discussion board with many Venture owners who were feeling rejected because of Yamaha's discontinuance of the marque. Bob decided to start a webpage in hopes of meeting others in the same predicament. The "Yamaha Venture Webpage" was born in the winter of 1997. Later in 1997 Don Nelson of Texas (at the time), in a unrelated effort, started a discussion forum based on the Yamaha Venture Royale he had just purchased. The two websites continued to grow independently throughout 1997 into early 1998." It was shortly after that when Bob and I combined our efforts to create what is now the Venturers Motorcycle Club. Obviously there came a time when I decided to go my own way to create the VentureRiders club and to be honest, there were some periods during that time when Bob and I did not always see eye to eye on various issues. I am so very thankful that any bad feelings between the two of us were put to rest long ago and he and I did share a number of emails over the past few months about the dreaded disease of cancer that we were both fighting with. Unfortunately, his was much worse than mine. It would not be hard to come up with a LOT of great things to say about Bob but I will try to keep it short. The biggest thing is that he had a huge heart, a sincere love for riding and genuine feelings for the many that he counted as friends and a fierce loyalty to the club that he helped found. I feel that my life was enriched by knowing Bob. I am glad that I was able to meet him face to face and ride with him at least one time and I will never forget the warm person that I learned him to be. Some of the emails of support that he sent to me in regards to my own cancer when he himself was fighting a much harder battle with his own...I will cherish his kind words and he will not be forgotten. Godspeed our friend....we will someday ride together again......
  15. Quick note .. Bob Edwards, co-founder of the Venturers (along with Don Nelson), passed away at about 5:30 EST this afternoon. Bob, Good Bless. Curt FJR Rider (aka Concours, President Venturers)
  16. Contestants wanted. Anyone can play. The thread can be found "stickied" to the top of the "Fun and Frivolous" forum topic. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20503 Jump to the last page to find the current target, grab the camera, jump on the bike and go for a ride with eyes peeled for that perfect camera shot. (hint.if you're riding alone, get the mirror in the shot pointed back at you. You get the bike mirror, your face in it, and the target.) If you're the first one to post the picture back on here, you get to set the next target. (something kinda generic that anyone in the world might be able to find). Riding season is upon most all of us now. Hop on board with us and enjoy the ride. Later, Scooter Bob P.S. The current target is..... A picture of you and your bike and a bulldozer. Should be easy now that construction season has started heh? by Scooter Bob Sorry Don, for another watering hole thread about this, but we want to make sure the new people that haven't explored the whole site can find it and can play along.
  17. Got the valve shims all taken care of with help from Scooter Bob. None were more than 0.06mm tight, but they are now all on the loose side of the valve clearance tolerance. I had to drill and chisel off one of the allen bolts holding one of the chrome covers since it would not release. Once I get the stud removed and the hole retapped, I will be able to put it all back together again (I hope). As of now, I have pieces and parts all over the garage workshop. It is a real mess. Not really good pictures, but this is my steed in all her naked glory. Thanks again Bob for the help today. Took hours off the time required to get this taken care of. RR
  18. Come on Bob it's Friday and I think it's the day your supose to pick up that new trike. Don't hold back from us. Pict's and more pict's or it never happended.
  19. once again i look for everyones wisdom, want to put passing lights on. i know yamaha has them but where else should i be looking? also i want to be seen from the rear.what's the best set up and where can i find that? thanks for any help.......BOB
  20. Put about 45 miles on this afternoon. They postponed the 3 hour enduro motorcycle race on the local lake because of too much water on the lake. Can't blame them. It was 30 degrees colder when they did it last year, but they weren't going to be wet. I've been fighting my couple times a year lower back problems (had part of a disc taken out in 95). The one thing that always seems to fix it is get on the bike and ride. And it seems too have worked again, Later, Scooter Bob:) Can't resist.. Scooter Bob... who thinks that 1/2 gallon of gas is much cheaper than a chiropractor appointment
  21. They're here! The first batch of pins will be in the mail late this afternoon. If you said you wanted 2G pins & haven't yet sent payment, you'd better hurry as there are only 11 remaining. Those that said they wanted 1G pins have no worries as there are still 72 up for grabs. Sure seems like this was a long time coming, but, I'm pretty sure you're going to like the results. And thank you all for helping to support this great forum - VentureRider.org. Bob
  22. Drill a small hole, grind off the point on the back, install a small split ring and......ta-dah, instant way cool zipper pull. Works with any extra pins you may have collected over the years. Thanks again Bob.
  23. Wanted to let everyone know that when I needed to buy a mirror, this guy sent me one for free! Wouldn't even discuss letting me pay the postage. What a great guy! The mirror came in today and looks like a brand new one. THANKS BOB! (Say Don.....reckon you could hang another award on him for helping out a fellow rider?)
  24. After 8 weeks in the repair shop, and just over $10,000 Cdn. in repairs, it feels great to be back in the saddle. Just in time for summer weather!!! Bob (Greener) Green
  25. We thought sure this was your van till we saw the state name on the plate. Later, Scooter Bob and Karen
