  1. That's because nobody can afford to get them out of the shop!!!:rotf:
  2. Well it's a warranty item so that's good. I'm thinking it might be that dreaded ignition switch. It can cause some weird stuff.
  3. I would agree, but I know what town politics can be like and the CoC has the ability to put pressure on the PD if they were so inclined to do it. Not saying that will happen, but just wanted folks to be on the look out. You know how rowdy this bunch can be.:rotf:
  4. That was the first thing I though of too.
  5. Just shy of 12,000 so far. I put 2000 to 2500 just going to work in a month.
  6. Dave38 we plan on getting to MB between 1 and 2 pm providing we don't run into any trouble along the way. More than likely we will head directly to Broadway on the Beach since I will be pulling a trailer and we can't check into our resort until after 4pm. That way we have plenty of parking and it doesn't hurt that my wife loves the place. Last year there were a lot of vendors there and some of the big MC dealers should be coming in on Monday also. There are some great places to eat there. We really like the Italian place on the Hwy 17 bypass side. Captmidnight that sounds like a great offer. We don't have any concrete plans except for the 13th, we plan on going to the Hard Rock Park and then staying for the evenings concert. Hopefully a bunch of folks will be able to get together. Just to let everybody know the HD Dealers association has moved their events from the Civic Center to the parking lot of the Hard Rock Park, from what I hear there should be a lot of vendors there also. I have read it PO'ed MB Chamber a lot, so everybody just be on the look out for angry LEO's. Not that the LEO's are bad, but you know how that stuff roles down hill. Every time I have been down there they have been more than wonderful, but I wouldn't crack the throttle too much if you have after market exhaust on your scoot.
  7. Most of us when we first got the bike went to big empty parking lots and practiced low speed maneuvering to get used to the size and feel of the beast. Glad you are enjoying things, and believe it or not despite what the perception of the South is, we are for the most part real genuine friendly people. Enjoy your trip and keep us apprised of how it's going.
  8. I will be pulling a trailer with my RSV, but that's so I can haul all the "CRAP" my wife is going to blow my money on back home.:rotf: It was pretty funny, the first time I went to MBBW and got 10 miles outside of town only to see folks off loading their HD's and Choppers in order to "RIDE THEM INTO TOWN" like they rode all the way there. POSERS!!! I told my wife about seeing at least 12 HD's broke down on the side of the road the first time I went and she didn't believe me. Last year she rode her shadow down and got to see first hand how many are sittin by the wayside with somebody turning a wrench on them. Saw an add in a MC rag that made me laugh. In it a HD shops advertisement had for it's slogan now get this "We have everything you need for your roadside attraction." I kid you not, even they admit these things break down. LOL :rotf: But they still have to look good on the side of the road.
  9. Check with Rick at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com tell him you belong to this site.
  10. Just remember we are all biased here. The best thing about owning a Venture is the great people you meet from this site when you go to meet and eats. Some of the best fun you can have and still be legal, well ok sometimes the line is a little fuzzy and may have been crossed. I don't know. When Beer30 and RiderDuke get together all bets are off!! Seriously though, it is a great motorcycle and other than a few little quirks (straight gear whine being one of them) you can't go wrong. The comfort is unmatched in my book. I was so impressed with my first RSV that when I bought my current one it was out of warranty and had 40,000 mile on it and I didn't even think twice about buying it. They are so reliable that most people have only used the warranty for replacing the rear shock, which by the way is probably the only weak link on this bike. It just wasn't designed for what we use these bikes for.
  11. It doesn't matter whether I lead or not, when riding with my wife I will ALWAYS put my bike on the side of the lane that is closest to the traffic. That way she is away from the traffic and I have one less thing to worry about. Normally I don't ride in large groups, unless at a Meet and Eat.
  12. Window's? Aren't they what's on houses? I have worked the last 26 years in buildings without windows. It really sucks in the winter. Go to work in the dark and leave in the dark and unless you are a smoker you never see the light of day.
  13. Actually it's a Second Gen VSTOL aircraft that was the point I was making. Call it what they want, but the Harrier is were it got it's inception. I just wonder if it can carry the payload of a AV-8B Night Attack. Being fast isn't always what it's cracked up to be, you still have to deliver the goods. Just ask my wife.
  14. They cancel at 1000 ft as far as distance not sure how long you have to sit before they cancel but they do cancel. I know mine have stopped while at traffic lights just sitting still.
  15. Actually it's a Second Gen. The AV-8 Harrier is the first Gen. That's the puppy I cut my teeth on. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/av-8.htm
  16. Last year we went down for the first 4 days and although we had fun, we were disappointed in the fact that the majority of vendors and big builders didn't show up until Monday night and were opening shop on Tuesday. Yamaha set up and had some really nice bikes for test rides, but we didn't get a chance because we left early on Tuesday. Not this year, we decided to take a week on the backside of the event to see how things shake out.
  17. Just wondering if anybody is planning on going to MB Bike week? The wife and I are heading down on Monday the 12th and coming back on the 18th. If anybody wants to get together for a impromptu meet and eat or anything else, (Get your mind out of the gutter Beer30:rotf:) we are always open for suggestions. I will have my cell with me and the number is in the Members section.
  18. I will guarantee it's not hooked up right. Just look under the right antenna and follow the cable, if I goes to the front of the bike then it's on the radio if it goes up to the box under the trunk then it's the CB. It's easy to swap them back, leave the cables in place and just move the upper antenna mount and all. All you should need is a couple of adjustable wrenches. Takes 5 min at the most.
  19. I don't wear them, but my ears have been ringing constantly since my Marine Corps days. Like I just left the front row of a heavy metal concert. Most times it doesn't bother me, but sometimes when I can't get to sleep, the ringing gets to me. I tried wearing the foam ear plugs on the bike, but I found I couldn't hear what was going on around me and that bothered me more than the ringing. Plus with the outside noise cut down, I was able to concentrate on the ringing and it really annoyed me then.
  20. I'd like to have a couple of those to put out on my street. Then again I'm not so sure I want those "THUMPIN" bass cars going any slower through the neighborhood. Pretty cool though.
  21. Yes the MIC will still work if you are listening over the ext speakers.
  22. I have one that I use although it's not a very big one. The cooler is rather small, it can hold a few sandwiches and several drinks. Nothing carbonated or else they can't be drunk right away from all the bouncing around. I usually have ice and a few water bottles. I also put my cool packs in it to regen them. The one I have came with the bike, it was one that was made on the venturers.org site several years ago and offered up for sale. It doesn't block the tag or lights at all. I also have the cooler bag that goes inside the saddlebags. That works great as long as you empty the water out of it at the end of the day to keep the water from seeping into the insulation.
  23. Out Friggin Standing Beer30!!!
  24. One thing that I haven't seen anybody mention yet is something to pad your backside. If I remember correctly the MM Venture has rather hard seats, and if you are not prepared for them or used to hard seats it could get uncomfortable after a short time. I had a 99 with stock seats and I believe they are the same as the MM but different color and I was hurting after 50 miles. My new to me 99 has pillow top seats and I can ride all day without problems. So I would highly advise getting a GEL pad, or Sheepskin as added protection. I still carry my Sheepskin around, although I haven't had reason to use it and I did 2000 miles in 4 days. I have put it on after the bike has sat in the sun for a long time just to keep from burning my backside. Have fun, I have had this Venture over a year and put 26,000 mile on her and STILL HAVE THAT &^%* GRIN every time I ride her!!!
  25. Some people put air in the front shocks, it can help handling some. The problem is getting both shocks to the exact same pressure. There is a kit that combines both together and you only have one valve to adjust both at the same time. I don't run air in my front shock. To answer your question, NO you don't have to put air in the front and rear at the same time.
