  1. How much travel should the choke lever have. Mine seems to very short travel distance. It is enough to get it going whenbwarm outside but now that it is in the 40s outside I am having to hold a little throttle to keep idle up until the engine is a little warmed up. 2. I don't know, she seemed to be venomous anti hybrid from her comments. Stickers on back are all tame, experimental aircraft association, aopa, ham radio and a backwoods solar. No Harley-Davidson stickers Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk
  3. I haven't watched the video yet but can imagine. I got accosted over the summer from anOther lunatic fringe. I have a 2000 Honda insight. Had it since new, drove it.to lunch instead of riding the venture. I had lunch at a wendys went out to car and there was a van parked next.to me. Noticed the father on passenger side dealing with 6 smallbkids. I back out and hear a lady holler hey. So I.stopped. She walked up to passenger window and quitely starts out with a thank you. Now, I am an emt-I on the local ambulaance service. First thing I think is she or kids were abpatient at some time. It's a very small town and it is the only old insight in the county so everyone knows the car. Nope she goes off and rails me for "telling" her how she is doing it all wrong and pushing my views on her. Don't know who the H she was, was a out of state plate. She turns goes back and gets in her rollover waitingbto happen with her 6 kids. Their are all kinds of psychos out there. I had my ems radio with me. I came real close to calling for law enforcement because she definitely had issues, she is just lucky she was in Illinois. The only state that doesn't have concealed carry, she had tried that somewhere else she might have hadba rude awakening.
  4. I ride my wifes 600 shadow the other day, first time in months and rooms me several "missed" shifts as I kept trying to heel shift it. I have really learned to like the heel toe shifted. Bob Marshall il
  5. And my 02 RSV I bought in may has never dropped below 42mpg. Two best trips I got 50 and 52 mpg. In both cases i had a 200 pound passenger on the back, once my wife, the other my son. Speed averages were around 60 mph, running e10 fuel and using 5th gear on highway. Bob Marshall, il
  6. Glad you got it going, bizarre that it happened to two of us so. CLose together timewise. Bob Marshall, il
  7. I hS somerhing simikar with my 02 last night. And. Couple of. Sluggish starts and then nada. Being i pulles my seat and found thT prev owner had put the battery tender lugs between main cables and posts were oxidized. Took cables loose, made lead shiny with screwdriver and reattached main cables without tender wires. Snugges bolts good and voila. Prior to emerfency cleaning contact was so poor headlight was not lighting. Starting like new at moment, couldnt find a date code on battery so no idea how old it is. I habe only had my bike since may. Bob Marshall, il
  8. From exxperience, yes it can, and when the time comes to part company with the bike in motion, knowing how to fall instinctively can help too. Bob Marshall,il
  9. So just how old, i got my first degree last year at 48 1/2. Will be pushing 51 by the time i.am ready for 2nd degree. I get the old man comments alot as my instructor is 57 and a 5th degree. Everyone else in his classes are kids or early 20s. My instructor knows a lady that got.her first black belt in ishinru at about 65, so there are a few of us non kids out there. Bob Marshall, il
  10. Sounds like my water provider, its rural water semi-quasi government entity. They send out the bill anx expect payment within 10 days, we Re on vacation last year when i thought about the fact that it probably came and we wouldnt be baxk in time. Had to mail a check from middle of nowhere new mexico. Tried complainig to the state utilities commission and their rezponse was they didnt have any jurisdiction because it wasnt a public investor owned utility. Soinds like his water company may be similar jerks. Bob
  11. Woohoo, fedex showed up, didnt know i wss getting saturday delivery. Took lessbthan 2 hours for xomplete operation and it also is also shifting much easier into neutral, going to take it foe a test ride. And yes theu did make getting that slave in and out quite interesting. Glad i went wih new cylinder. Bob Marshall, il
  12. well after checking with the closest stealer/dealer and being told it would be 5 to 7 days for the parts I figured I would order online. I had hoped that maybe they would have a slave in stock. I couldn't find the seller mentioned here on eBay and cheapest place google turned up was boats.net. seemed strange ordering mc parts from a boat place but price was 25 less than what the dealer quoted me and shipping was reasonable. supposed to ship Wednesday and hoping that the package arrives for the weekend. that way I can get the cussing out of the way before the labor day weekend. bob
  13. Well there were more than 3 screws on that darn cover, but could see the slave with it off. Wished I had realized there wD some residual oil behind it though Looks like it may be leaking just enough to coat. As tight as things are in there I M not sure I want to risk pulling it just to find out its messed up more than a rebuild and be down for a week waiting on parts. I may just replace the whole slave, have to think about it, not losing enough fluid yet to be a hazard, topped it up last time about 6 weeks ago. Have to fix it though, can't have it bleeding. 14. Just 3??? Went out and looked, I see the breeder bolt rubber cover top forward area of that, but I count 6 Allen heads? Maybe I abbreviated wrong with RSV, I have a 02 midnight venture. Going to pull that cover off this evening regardless. Bob
  15. Well I can't do anything about my looks, but I can do something about my mass. I have Hovered in the low 190s for way too long. If one goes by BMI, my ideal weight is about -20 pounds away. Though my wife thinks I look anorexic at that weight. I would like to drop 10 anyway, means 10 more pounds of farkles I could add to the bike. I have yet to come to a meet eat yet. Bob
  16. My doc would much rather I jog than ride my motorcycle, she has a cow when I ride it in for a checkup and really never bas liked the fact I ride my kids. Bob
  17. Riches r my sympathy on tangling with the st Bernard. I went for a 35mph flight a little over 20 years ago, launch vehicle was a cm400t, launch cause was a#@$@@ dog. Hit and went down. Still remember counting the helmet strikes on the pavement. No broken bones, felt like I was run over by a steam roller and my ankles looked the worse. Soles were normal color, rest of feet up to above ankles were dark purple. That is my main cause of abused ankles. I have 0 tolerance for aggressive dogs to this day and am thankful for the judo and taekwondo I have. I tucked and rolled when I knew the bike and I were parting company. Bob
  18. I have cut a bunch off my mile times just In The last two months by going to a 5 dAys a week run or bicycle and taking 2 rest days. Some days I go out and just plod 4.5 miles, halfway point is a cemetery at least two days I do a 5k with a pace to try and improve times, and I mix some bicycle riding in. I work from home so have to get out of the house in evening for sanity. Some nights I even have time to ride the venture after I cool down from exercising. It's just about 13 miles to my parents, not sure I would run real half marathon but would like to run the distance to their place at least once. Bob
  19. Think my clutch slave has a slow leak 02rsv I've had the bike since may and had to top the reservoir twice now. Actually found what I am pretty sure is brake fluid on the concrete under the bike this morning. I access the forum with tapatalk with my Android. Someone mentioned the shop manual being on this site, anybody have a url for it. And, does the clutch line travel under the engine, found a line with the leaking fluid on bottom side line. I want to make sure its not just a slightly loose connection. Rebuilding hydraulic cylinders wasn't on my list of thing to do this summer. Bob Marshall, il
  20. Yeah but my grandfather was a farmer, Lived to 85 self sufficient to the end, my dad is 90 Sharp as a tac even with having an a-fib Induced stroke and still living on the property he wD born on next to where grandpa kicked the bucket 48 years ago. I have abused ankles so get well cushioned jogging.g shoes and so far have avoided crunch knee syndrome. I'm 50, I might go tomorrow but the undertaker will have to Chase me down. 21. Figured that would get the attention. Anybody on here a serious or semi serious jogger. I may be in the minority given the quantity of meet and eats that get mentioned on here. I am trying to keep the taX man from collecting those inheritance taxes as long as possible, or making sure thereon be anything left for them to collect. I have became more serious exercising after having somebody I thought was significantly older than me and much heavier finish ahead of me in a 5k only to find out we were in same age bracket, Ouch. Plan on dusting him next month. Besides being in shape has to help for the long rides. Bob Marshall, il
  22. I've sold a few things via eBay and was one that preferred to stay in the states. At the time I was less concerned about shipping issues and more concerned about payment defaults. That was before eBay pulled paypal into their bed. With all the changes that eBay has made to their payment rules I actually became so annoyed by it all I haven't had any desire in over a year to even browse their sellers, let alone want to sell anything myself. Though I will admit part of that ia a result of buying a very expensive used "used but full functional" item from someone claiming to be in Everett, wa. Then finding out he was actually driving across the border to ship. I will say eBay and papal made good and I got my.money back. But it cost N ARM and a leg in shipping for me to return the item as eBay required it be mailed to his address on record which was in Canada. Cost to ship a dead boat anchor inverter back for refund was over 60 dollars usps. Had it not been for the new eBay safeties would have been taken for over 1000. I am more worried that the shady character is still in operation. So nothing against Canada, I just hate the extra paperwork when it is so much easier to ship items in country. Bob Marshall, il

    LEDs and Strobe

Not on my motorcycle, but I have had a white diffused strobe on the tail of my bicycle and used it since the early 80s. Radio shack sold it as a portable emergency rescue beacon back then. I gutted it and mounted it in a box. At least in Indiana and Illinois never had an issue with passing Leo's. It's intensity is no where near those strokes on top of bus but it does get late night drivers Attentions. I would rather have to explain myself to a judge on this issue than my family deal with an undertaker as well. Bob Marshall, il
  24. I guess it really depends on the insurance provider. I plowed a deer with a goldwing 5 years ago and kept it up. Broken tupperware and a bunks toe from the. Carcass pinning my foot to the brake pedAL. Of course maybe they were more obliging because I didnt lay it down or total it or myself. That time felt like I got a fair deal. Bob Marshall, il. 25. Many years ago I went into the local Honda dealer to get a throttle cable, they happened to sell sea doo jet skis that used rotax engines. Note the cable was for neither but took old cable with me. They kept questioning me about "what bike" it was for. I did not want to tell them what it was for until I paid and had the cable in hand. It was for a 447 rotax with Bing carb mounted to my ultralight/experimental. I finally told them and you would have thought I had killed someone. Their response of this isn't madebfor an aircraft. They call them experimental for a reason the builder decides what is acceptable and usable. I avoid going to that bike dealer to this day because of that encounter. I heard from others for a long time after that the parts manager was being a real rear end if someone made mistake of telling them what it was for and it wasn't ground bound. Lots of parts Re same and don't care where they are used, just the idiot selling them does. Really ticked me, throttle cable was identical to the one I was replacing, just saved a couple days of mail time. So tired of cya
