  1. I am not seening gas locations or is there anyway to measure the distance you have traveled.?
  2. I have MapSource, How do you do this. The only way I have been able to figure out is to use the measuring icon and measure out the distance along the route then look for fuel in the area. I also see that Streets and Trips 2010 and I assume 2011 will do what I want. and can now be imported by gpx.
  3. LOL I almost started to do a search on guppy carb.s:big-grin-emoticon:
  4. Okay I know this exist but can't seem to find it. My better half and I are taking two long trips this year. Both are approx 2000 miles each way. We plan to break it up into 3 days then 2 weeks of riding the 3 days back and 1 to recoup before going back to work. Not that any of that has anything to do with my question but I am getting very excited about the trips. My question is this: I have a Garmin (older one) 2730, and a Nuvi. Is there a program that besides gives routing but will accept input as to how far to space fuel stops and suggest stations around that area. IE I will want to refuel every 225 - 250 miles. (I have a 27 gallon tank but only get about 11-12 mpg when towing the bikes. (sucks) So my range is a bit over 300 miles per tank but don't want to push it.I can find the info with Mapquest but it is a real pain. Is there a better way?
  5. Just ordered the Q2Pro for my wife and myself. We have two 3 week vacations planned for this year. One week each of travel time back and forth to the destinations and two weeks of riding each. So I am hoping to give them a good working out. Our 1st trip is to the Mid-west, in June, then to the Berkshires Mountains in Mass. We will tow the bikes out approx. 2000 miles each way for both trips. I am more than just a little excited!!!!! Gotta get new shoes for the truck next month. Toyota is having a 4 for 3 sale.
  6. Thanks for the info, I have one or two of those laying around, one is broken so I may do what you did and use it for a hardwire. I don't know what the extra pair of wires would go to unless it was for a RCA plug. The $30 one you are referring to has a RCA plug to plug external speakers to.
  7. I had a 06 StreetGlide for a while and loved almost everything about it. It had a few issues so I picked it up on the cheap on ebay. the PO really didn't know how to care for a bike. People like to dog out the HD because of the antique engine design and the cost but it is a business and apparently the market will bear the price. They are well made machines, no one can deny that. They really pay attention to detail. Kinda like a Lexus vs Toyota. Toyota is great till you drive a Lexus. My only draw backs were the bag sizes. They are kinda pewny compared to the RSTD or Venture or almost any ones Else's bags. Loved the way it had the quick release though. Mine was an o6 model they had some issues with the radio's display not working. Found a guy to fix that pretty cheap compared to a new system. The system worked fine , you just never new what mode you were in without going through the sequence in your head. The fairing mounts broke often from the engine vibration. They have since upgraded the brace for the bigger engines. It was another cheap fix. Even if I went with the OEM it was still less than $100. I fixed mine for about $10 with the help of Home Depot. The engine vibration, you either love it or hate it. I didn't mind it but it had a spot around 1800 rpms that was worse than it should be and since around that range is where I did most of my riding. All in all I think mine had some neglect issues but as far as ride and handle I've never ridden a bike as easy to ride as a HD, either this or my Wife's Fatboy. After cleaning the bike up and fixing the few issues I sold the bike to a local dealer for $3,000.00 more than what I paid. I cleared almost $2000. after taxes so it was a good investment for me. Would I buy another one.....ABSOLUTELY (just not that year) Wife and I are getting ready to go for a ride so I might just detour around to where the guy has the Road Glide for sale.
  8. I love the Road Glide. There is an older one on flea bay with the 80CI that looks really nice. Would rather have a bigger engine tlike yours though.
  9. Anothr good thought, I will pass that along to the dealer. The had the carbs off so it is possible. Don't know why of if they would need to tear into them though. It was running fine when it went to the for the head gasket repair.
  10. That is what I told them to do but although they are nice guys I do have to question their compentency. Needless to say when I called back yesterday after they told me they were putting it back on the lift next they still havent touched it again. I guess they are waiting on Ma Yamaha to tell them what to do or for it to fix itself or waiting on the warranty to run out in 2013.
  11. Good point Goose I didn't think of that. When I went by to check on it the service manager started the bike and brought it to me so I didn't hear the fuel pump but I will check that if they haven't figured it out. I don't think the pump is the problem. As you mentioned it should run a ways with just the fuel in the carb bowls. This is sputtering as soon as you hit a higher gear in just 100 feet of so. Like I said is feels the same as when you hit the rev limiter but not actually hitting it. I seems lean as it is back firing more than it was before. The reason I was thinking pilot was because I was turning them all the way in to count the turns so I could be sure to adjust them all the same when I backed them out an extra 1/4 turn for the free flowing pipes. So if they were turned in too far wouldn't that cause a too lean condition that could act like this? Here is another thought. I am still not that familiar with how the bike is set up as to the # of coils. My Valk has 3 so I am guessing this may have 2 or is it 1? Anyhow, if it does have 2 is there a way that the bike's ICM could see the RPM's as double what it is actually turning and in so doing actually activating the rev limiter?
  12. Thanks for the tip, I didn't think of that but that will work.
  13. I told then to check that and he said the fuel pump seems to be working fine. Also states the filter is clear. I went up and rode it. Like he said it revs fine sitting still but under load like 3rd gear or hard throttle it spits and sputters. Similar to when you hit the rev limiter. I told them I was adjusting the pilots when the head gasket finally blew and started shooting water out my tail pipe so I shut it down and loaded it on the trailer and took it straight to them. So I am thinking that one or more of the pilot screws are closed or near closed as it is notible running leaner than it was before I took it in. Told them to close all pilots and reset them to specs I am betting that will fix it but havent heard back from them yet. Gonna give em another 30-45 minutes before I call or go back up there.
  14. Okay, I start a new thread and type in the title. It pops up with a list of like topics. I can click on a topic link and read that link but when I hit the back browser the list of topics is gone, only the message box and title box remain. So in order to read the rest of the topics I have to close out the new thread box and start over typing in the same topic to see the next thread I want to read. Don't loose any sleep over it I am sure it is in my system. I have trouble fowarding emails with photos too they only recieve the dreaded red X:big-grin-emoticon:
  15. Just tried it again, their not there. I am running Vista, do you think that may be the problem?
  16. Thanks for the reply, I saw Item #2 after I posted I thought I had deleted that from my questions but apparently I only removed the 2nd part, ...my eyes are getting older. Sorry. #3 Okay if the membership don't want it they don't want it. I can see your point about posting just to post. #1, What browser are you using? Mine when I hit the back button I get the title box, message box but nothing underneath where the other links were. I basically have to back up, act as if I am going to post a new thread then put in the same info then go to the next thread. I don't have that issue when I do a search, just on the new message page.
  17. Okay I have a request or 3. 1st and foremost for me. When I do a search or when I post a new topic it gives me a list of threads that have had similar parameters. I love this feature, it is very helpful ..... but..... it only allows me to view one of the listed threads. When I try to go back after reading the thread to view the other threads they are no longer there. Is there a way to make them stay at the bottom of the page so we can peruse all of them before we post? 2nd I see where it was mentioned before but is there a way to make a sticky type date for when each post was made, a time date stamp on each individual post? 3rd. My Valkyrie thread under our user names shows how many threads we have posted or replied to... is there a way to do that too. It is kinda nice to see who has posted . Thanks this is a GREAT SITE you have done a AWESOME job with it and deserve a huge pat on the back...
  18. Okay here is the story; Bike has been in the shop for several weeks 38 days to be exact, getting Ma Yamaha to finally fix the over heating issue which as we thought here back in January/Febuary that it was a bad head gasket. Okay they finally get it all back together and the service manager calls me to tell me it is not running good. Says running great on side stand, 1st and 2nd gear runs out fine but 3rd and up it acts as if it is starving for fuel. They are checking the vacuum lines, I told them to check the filter for clogs, and to check for contaminated fuel as it is the 10% ethanol that has been sitting in the tank. I researched here and that seems to be the normal advice, (I had a similar issue on my 03 VTX which was a fuel pump bike also and Turned out it was a clogged fuel filter. Would run fine the for no apparent reason it would shut down. It only did this if the bike was low on fuel. I first changed it over to a gravity feed system but that did not help, changed out the filter and that fixed it. I had put a new filter on and apparently it did not flow as well as the oem.) So can anyone here think of any other reasons that this may be occurring? I had recently sync'd the carbs, and was in the process of fine tuning the pilot's as I had put new pipes on the bike and it was running lean. but I don't think any of that would cause it to shut down like it is doing. Thanks
  19. You might want to take the reading off of one of the head bolts that is in the same place on each cylinder. That will give you a better idea if one is running way to lean or the difference in temps is too extreme. I agree most temps are much lower than that.
  20. That is a very sweet looking bike, especially for its age. Why is the Honda logo upside down on the tour pack? My son-in-law just bought a similar bike but later model without the fairing or luggage but he loves it. Great bike, Great find, Congratulations!!
  21. Thanks for all the info, by the way I REALLY like that bike!
  22. Okay , need to show my ignorance again. I see it all the time but what is a MkII?
  23. Does it matter what year Vmax rear end. I have an 07 RSTD.?
  24. Thanks, I'vve been looking at that. Looks pretty nice!
  25. I just got my schedule changed at work so I can have some longer weekends IE Friday - Tuesday. So, as of now falls on one of those weekends so I got it penciled in on my Calander. Google says its a 12ish hour ride, Mapquest says 10 hours. 700 miles. Haven't researched the park yet. Is there camping available?
