  1. Had same problem with a VTX. It was the fuel filter.
  2. Thanks, I may be going to Picaune as that is not that far and a nice ride as is Hattisburg. My son is looking for a crotch rocket bike unfortunately.
  3. They have cleaned the carbs supposedly. It has been there 2 months this time 3 months total but still....
  4. Thanks Fuzzy, they told me today they there was a recall a couple years ago relating to the timing now too. Funny when I asked them if there were any reacalls they told me NO not that affected my bike. I also just posed another post about the service hoping to drum up some support to put some heat on the dealer. I will be posting the letter on Yamaha, Honda, & Harley Davidson sites. I will be seeking legal advice for some compensation on Monday or Tuesday of next week if they don't have it by Friday.
  5. I hate having to do this but it is time to turn the heat up on Ma Yamaha. As has been discussed here before looking for advise my RSTD was in the shop for a full month in February of this year for over heating problems. This is what the leak looked like then. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x249/TearlessTom/P1010241-1.jpg A possible cause was found and repaired AFTER A MONTH and all they had to do was to actually lay a wrench on the bike. They found a bolt from the motor mount had backed out droped into the fan and blew the fuse which could have caused the over heating problem. Fast Forward 2-3 weeks: March 16th Now this is what the leak looks like http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x249/TearlessTom/RSTDLeak.jpg so obviously it was not the bolt in the fan but rather the head gasket like I had told them the 1st part of February. Oh and by the way they still didn't believe it. TODAY IS NOW MAY 17TH. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SAME SHOP HALLS MOTORSPORT IN MOBLIE AN MALBIS FOR AN ADDITIONAL 2+ MONTHS. 62 DAYS TODAY PLUS THE 30 IN FEB BRINGS IT TO AN ASTOWDING 92ISH DAY IN THE SHOP THIS YEAR AND TODAY IS THE 137TH DAY OF THE YEAR SO THEY HAVE HAD IT 2/3RDS OF THE YEAR. After a 2nd month (1st month this occurance )in the shop they finally got around to fixing the head gasket. When they put the bike together it ran like CRAP!!!! So now it is in the 3rd month of their possession because they cannot figure out what happened to the bike to make it run so bad as it was running perfectly before they worked on it (with the exception of the head gasket) I think 2 months is more than sufficient to fix a bike for any reason. It took less than that to repair my Honda and my wife’s Harley when she had her accidents. Actually only took about 3-4 weeks including paint. So I called Ma’ Yamaha yesterday, they said they would call HALLS MOTORSPORT at 10:AM then call me back. Didn’t hear back so I had to call them again. Now they are saying re-re-recheck the timing which I am told is being started this afternoon and should be back together tomorrow AM. The service manager, mechanic and myself have racked our collective brains trying to think of possible causes for the poor running but to no avail. We think it is a fuel problem. The service department acts as if they can not wipe their collective backside with out Ma’Yamaha’s permission because it is a warranty job. Now I am being told that a service rep/mechanic will TRY TO BE HERE NEXT THURSDAY, IE: 10 Days Their handling of this is way beyond not acceptable business practice. To Make matters even worse this is my 2nd Yamaha, My son has had one and was looking to buy another but the sales people at this same dealership HALLS MOTORSPORT IN MOBILE ALBAMA treated him so poorly he does not want to go back. To bad to as he had the money in his pocket. Well thanks everyone for letting me vent and I have a favor to ask. 1st Would everyone who reads this please shoot a note or even copy and paste this to the below listed contact for HALLS MOTORSPORT IN MOBILE ALABAMA. And let them know your feelings of their business practices. 2nd If you can spare a minute call the below listed # for Yamaha’s so called customer support and tell them the problems going on at this dealership. Maybe they will take note and pull there licenses or at least put some pressure on them. As of this writing we have 2,184 members on this site alone, Please help me put some collective pressure on these stealers. http://halls-motorsports.com/contact/ Customer Relations (800) 962-7926, press "3" for Star Specialist. Oh and as an aside note. I had reason to do business with Truck’n Up in Mobile. I ordered a truck bed cover for my truck yesterday morning. He found one in Indiana. He calls me at lunchtime today tells me it is in and he can install anytime. So in a matter of about 28 hours including off hours he find the cover , ordered it, called the customer, and installed it. They also rechecked the balance on some new tires for me free of charge. That is how a business should be run!
  6. I will most likely be ordering one from you if I can ever get my bike out of the shop. Its been there 2 months to the day today for a bad head gasket which they fixed after a month but for the last month they have not been able to get it to run correctly when the re-assembled it. It was running perfectly when I took it in but definitely not now. Had a talk with Ma Yamaha yesterday. We have run out of ideas of things to check so hoping they will send a new set of carbs for a possible fix.
  7. Ponch, Will this lift the rear tire off the ground for maintaince and cleaning? Or just stablize the bike in an uprite position? I've been having a difficult time finding the sweet spot to get the rear off the ground with my jack, plus it would be nice to be able to do this on the road if needed in an emergency. Thanks, Thats a great price!!!
  8. If your speedo is on the tank I don't see why any bar would not fit if it is the correct diameter. Most of the people talking about the Flanders are the 2nd generation with the large speedo. The reason is because it's base is wide enough to fit it. Many bars are not. That was my error I thought you may have hit the c rather than d in the discription of your bike. Show us a picture of your bike.
  9. I don't see a problem with it being non-knurled, There are other ways of tightening the bar. The knurling does make it easier to tighten and to line up. The problem with the RSTD (I assume this is the bike you are refering to) is it has a very wide speedo that sits above the handle bar so the middle of the bar has to be unsusally wide before it will fit. I just walked out to the garage to check and a Fatboy handle bar is just a bit wider at that point than the stock RSTD so they should fit. By the way I have the RSTD and Fatboy bar for sale if anyone is interested:big-grin-emoticon:
  10. BOTH
  11. Man that is one beautiful bike. It might help if you posted his route and time schedule.
  12. I too will have you in my prayers. What happened to the FL Lottery? Isn't that supposed to be for education. That was one of the reasons I always bought tickets when ever I cross the border which is 40 miles away for me and I go there often. FL is in a unique situation as a large portion of the property owners are older, retiree's or near retiree's who do not have kids or grand kids in the FL school system (aka: SnowBirds) so they don't want to ante up with higher property taxes. My son who just graduated here is finishing his 1st 1/2 year of teaching. His teaching certificate was not ready when school started last Sept so he was able to get on in January. He has already been handed his pink slip for the year and told that although he did a great job and was well liked there was no position for him next year. This is something our local schools do every year to pretty much all school employees then re-hire them at the beginning of the next school year so they are never quite sure if they have a job or not. Kinda makes it hard to deal with. My daughter-in-law is also a teacher with a Masters degree. She has tenure now so she is okay pretty much. My sister-in-law also has her teaching degree but does not teach due to the low pay and lack of stabilty. My sister also has her teaching degree. Taught a few years and got out of it. She now has a pretty good gig doing ON LINE teaching. Pay is much better too and she doesn't have to deal with the classroom or politics. My niece is just finishing up her teaching degree. While still on the local PD I was offered a job as a Resource Officer a couple of times but could not accept due having three kids and the uncertainty of the job position although I would have loved the job. However I have a BETTER job now as a RN in a ER at a Children's Hospital. What can I say, I love working with kids. I would rather spend time with young kids and dogs over any adult I know. The only words of advice is to sincerely pray. I truly believe the old saying "When God closes a door he opens a window"
  13. I think he is in Philadelphia Mississippi, not Philadelphia PA Thats just a bit south of the Sweet Tea Line Oh and by the way, I am from L.A. (Lower Alabama)
  14. And I thought I was having problems with my dealer not getting the job done correctly...I feel much better now but my bike is still in the shop.
  15. Was also considering something like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Single-Double-PWC-Jet-Ski-Waverunner-Trailer-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aaabb7bdaQQitemZ320691993562QQptZMotorsQ5fTrailers
  16. Yes I already have a trailer that is made for hauling bikes but it is heavy and drops my gas mileage from 17-18 to 10-12. I am sure gas will be at $5.00 + by the end of June so although it would take some time to pay for itself it sure would make me feel better. I figure the combined weight of the bikes and lumber to make the floor would be about 1800 lbs. the trailer I have now the manufacturer told me it probable weighted about 1500 so that would be roughly 3000-3500 lbs of towing weight. The truck has no problem pulling it.
  17. What he said...Happy Dance Time....
  18. Just curious, Has anyone made or thought of making a bike trailer out of a Jet ski trailer. The are light weight, most are aluminium. I was thinking of a double to haul two full size bikes. Trying to cut down on weight for some long trips I have planned. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/Smileys/actions/undecided.gif
  19. Has anyone had any problems with their TPS? I have the 07 RSTD which has been in the shop for waaaaaay to long. Anyhow as mentioned before in another thread they finally got the head gasket fixed and put it back together. But it is running like crap! Idles fine, rev's fine in neutral. Put it under load and open the throttle and it feels like hitting the Rev limiter. Does it more in higher gears where the load is greater due to gear ratio's. We have checked everything we can think of and everything others have mentioned here but to no avail. We have pretty much ruled out the carbs and timing. They checked the TPS and apparently the resistance was all wrong like no resistance. They are suppose to have one ordered and hopefully be in this week.. Has anyone else had a problem or can shed some light?
  20. Kinda the same question but not really. Just purchased the Scala Pro and have a StreetPilot 2630. I thought it was Bluetooth but it was the Nuvi 360 that I have that is Bluetooth. Anyway I have read that the Cardo 500 adapter for about $85 can upgrade the system but for that many clams by just adding a bit more I can buy a completely new or refurb unit that is much more up to date but not as rugged. Anyway I have laying around a JABA Bluetooth thingy that looks the same as the Cardo and its no charge. So my question is does anyone know how to do this as neither has a LCD to give instructions as to when to push what?
  21. I just got the Scala Pro and was trying to sync my Nuvi 360 to it. The Nuvi has a password key of 1234, the Scala wants 0000. Does anyone know how I can change either of these? I can get into the programing language if it is in there somewhere and someone who knew what all that stuff means:big-grin-emoticon:
  22. My wifes Murano has the same type minus the abality to shift preset gears , ...anyway it is very impressive to drive,. Feels a bit strange at 1st as when the car loads down like going up a hill the rpms go up but the speed remains steady, looks like it is slipping. Personally I like the bike's looks and ride position, Price is way over the top though.
  23. Yes saw them on Ebay from a couple of dealers for around $8,000.
  24. LOL Same thing here. Kinda like getting off a Clydesdale and onto a Shetland. The foot position just is not the same.
