There are a couple of reasons why I dont offer up money as a prize in this raffle, first of all, all profits from this raffle and everything we do at Tail of the Dragon events has been and always will be donated to the kids at St. Jude CHildren's Hospital in Memphis, Tn. We always have a 50/50 raffle where half of the money brought in from the sale of those tickets goes to the hospital and the other half goes to the lucky winner. This year in an effort to raise more money I want to offer up some really nice prizes to the winners. I have always depended on the generosity of others to help provide some of the door prizes and raffle items for this event. It may not happen that there is enough interest to help fund this type of raffle, I know I could go to Russell to help with the fund he has set up, but I have always funded this event moneywise out of my own pocket, and wish to do so in the future. I appreciate your input as I am always open to suggestions about what goes on at Vogel and I have the great members here to thank in helping make Tail of the Dragon and St. Jude fundraising so successful. To date we have raised over $11,000.00 for St. Jude and I couldnt be happier with the success of our efforts.

The GM at BW returned my call today but by the time I called him back, he had left for the day, I will try to get him tomorrow when I go to lunch, hopefully he was calling me with good rates................

Some of our previous sponsors that have been providing their product have stepped up again this year. So far the best door prize will be from Morgan Carb-Tune. I just received an email from Sean Morgan saying they will be supplying us with one of their products again. Protectall will also be providing some of their great product, still awaiting replies from others........... If anyone has something they would like to donate or know of someone who would donate it would be greatly appreciated........ I will be posting a poll before the weekend about what the members would like to see for door prizes.......

Sent up for a full recovery.................. Just a side note, thats the reason I dont ride dirt bikes anymore, I was always getting banged up............swithched to street bikes and never looked back.

I have just spoken with George the Gen. Mgr at the Best Western in Blairsville, and as of now I have a rate of $62.99 and the rate is good Wed. thru Sat. That is the best he would do. I tried to get him to come down to the rate at the Seasons Inn, but he wouldnt budge, but it is still a pretty good rate. To make a res at the Best Western please call them direct at 706-745-6995 and mention Venturerider to get this rate, $62.99 plus tax, good for your entire stay.

There are still cabins available at Vogel, they are a little higher than the motels in Blairsville, which is 11 miles from the park. The Best Western in Blairsville seems to be the favorite place for most who dont camp or stay in a cabin at the park. I will be posting more about accomadations shortly, and call the Best Western to see if they can give us a good rate. Looking forward to seeing you and Becky again. And by the way you won a St. Jude t-shirt auction...........I will send you the amount in a pm.

The planning for Vogel V is underway, attached to this post you will find an attachment for the registration. I will also be posting the schedule of what is planned at a later date. This year I am doing it a little differently, every adult attending will pay a $35.00 registration fee, what you get for this is a t-shirt, patch and a catered meal on Saturday. If any of you are bringing your children or unlicensed teens, the only thing extra for them is the cost of the dinner which I will put at $5.00. Only full registrations will get the shirt and patch. I will have extra shirts available for sale for $18.00, and patches for $5.00. Please try to get you registrations to me by Aug. 1, 2011, so I can get a good count on how much food to order and how many shirts to order. You can mail the registrations to my address which is listed at the bottom of the form. Remember all profits will be going to the Kids at St. Jude.

I still wont believe it until I see it if Jerry makes it......................And for those that dont know who I am talking about Jerry Stone (My Cousin) is married to Dottie, Kens cousin. I have been trying to get him to Vogel for many years.................

Tail of the Dragon @ Vogel V Aug. 17-21, 2011 Vogel State Park Blairsville, Ga. Registration will begin at 12:00 PM Wed. Aug. 17, 2011, in front of the convenience store/office. You can register there or register early by mail. I will be posting the official registration form in a few weeks. There are cabins, camp sites, rv sites at the park. There are also several motels in nearby Blairsville. I will be contacting them and try to set up a block of rooms at a reduced rate. I know many have stayed at the Best Western in Blairsville. I will be posting a list of all the local motels also. More info will be forthcoming soon. You can also RSVP by clicking on the VR calendar. __________________

Well, Charlene wasn't even her room at the hospital 24 hours after her surgery, they discharged her and we are now home and she is finally getting some much needed sleep that she didnt get there. She is still sleeping this morning and I wont wake her up, she needs her rest. We are getting close to the end of all these surgery's, she still will need to have the knee done, but that will be later this year. She is so tired of all the pain and discomfort she was in, and she is always telling me she is so sorry she cant do things that we use to do together. She might even be able to get on the bike after this recovery. Those of you that are going to Vogel this year wont believe the difference in her. Thanks to everyone here for all your prayers and support through all of this, this family is the greatest.

Charlene is out of surgery and in her room keeping me running helter skelter..........but thats what I am here for. She is doing well, doc removed 2 discs and inserted a plate with 6 screws. Said she will be good to go, she had one that was really bad and that was the trouble spot but he cleaned it all up and gave her a very good prognosis. She might be going home tomorrow, wow day after major surgery on her neck and going home the day after...............Thanks for all your prayers. We are very greatfull for all the VR family........... .

Here we go again, Charlene is having more surgery, on her neck this time, she has 3 ruptured discs, going to have 2 of them removed and have some donor bone, cages, a plate and 6-8 screws put in. This is one we weren't expecting but after she had her hip replaced and her spinal surgery she was still having numbness and pain being caused by the bad disc. She is going back to Emory Hospital in Tucker, Ga. They are very good at what the do, I highly reccomend them to anyone who may need any kind of orthopedic surgery done.
