I received mine yesterday. I have not compared the piping yet. But if they turn out to be to big I will cut them off and solder on the right size. Mike

Possible new way to fix broken plastic???

Tim In my opinion that is low mileage. My D404s have always lasted 10k to 12k miles. If you ask me why your mileage is low I am afraid I have no answer. Perhaps weather, road conditions etc. All I can do is guess, with no way to verify anything. You might ask a local dealer what their experience has been with these tires. Mike Mike

Petroleum Based Solvents?
MikeWa replied to Chaharly's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Solvents can be petroleum based or water based. Petroleum based solvents are generally considered non-biodegradable. Whereas water based are not so harmful to the environment. My experience has shown me that petroleum based solvents generally clean automotive related grease and carbon better. Water based will often clean dirt better. Water base is easier to dispose of. +1 on missed splines. Use the access hole in the front of the driveshaft housing to help line things up. Mike -
Same here. Something changed today. Now I get articles not forums. Mike

When we have a waste spark we get one ignition spark for each revolution of the crank instead of every other revolution. More like a two cycle engine. Some tachs can't compensate for this, some can. The one you have certainly lists as being compatible with the RSV so I do not know why it isn't working. The one I have is Yamaha part number 'Eng-meter-4C-01'. I don't recall if it is for a two cycle or four cycle or four cycle with a waste spark. Mike

I don't know what you have. None of the ones I looked at had any adjustment. There are two basic units available. One for single spark and one for waste spark. Some will also show hours of operation. Mine flashes the hours every one hundred hours. Perhaps your adjustment should be set to one pulse per revolution since we get a waste spark on the exhaust stroke. I think I paid 25 dollars for mine some years ago from Yamaha Sports Plaza. It was found in the generator section. Mike

That is a very good price for a fuel pump. I don't know if or how well it will work but I just ordered one anyway. Doesn't hurt to have a back up I suppose. Mike

I haven't figgured out how to clear them either. Mike

When I upload a picture I get a window that contains every picture I have previously uploaded. Am I supposed to do anything with them? It seems like over time that will eat a lot of space. Mike

This tach only requires one wire which coils three wraps around any plug wire. It's not very fast but it does the job for me. Mike

I seem to be having a bad oil filter day. I decided to order a couple of new oil filters for the scoot today. Since I discovered Purolator does not recommend the PL14612 or PL14610 for motorcycles (in fact they strongly recommend against using these filters) I decided to make a change. I was going for the ML16817 recommended by the Purolator rep. When I went to order it on Amazon a large flashing red warning came up telling me this filter would not fit my Venture. Ok I get the picture. So I decided to just go with a Yamaha filter. I was ordering the 3FV-13440-00-00 oil filter as listed in my manual and low and behold that part number is crossed out with a new number 5GH-13440-30-00 beside it on the web page. Hmmm. I called the Yamaha dealer and inquired about oil filters. He looked it up and came back with a different number yet. Wherein we got into a discussion on the correct filter for my scoot. We settled on the 5GH-13440-30-00. Hope it works. Mike

I can't speak to the wiring diagram but there is at least one ground point behind the rear seat. Several wires are connected to a bolt going into the frame. Mike

Just an FYI for those who don't know it. Saturday Dec 13 is Wreaths Across America Day. I will be attending with the Patriot Guard but I am sure most service organizations will be involved in some manner. Mikewww.wreathsacrossamerica.org Note. If this post is inappropriate please delete it.
