  1. Trying this again. Must have had some issues with size limitations. This one is saved as the gif with transparent background.
  2. Well one of the officers has had his court date. In the story they mentioned that the cops weren't ticketed until eight days after the incident. Bet they aren't feeling too good right now. http://www.columbusdispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2009/08/05/gahannacycle.html?sid=101
  3. Clay, glad to hear you all are getting out of there in October. Lewis, Muffinman is in Afghanistan, Clay in Iraq. Closest route is through Iran and I don't think they are gonna let him go that way.
  4. Sorry about that, it worked for me the other evening. You can get the file at the bottom of this page: http://www.c-edesign.com/venturerider.html
  5. I never got a chance to see a Puff in action personally, but I can tell you when you are stuck somewhere feeling like a pinata at a big party, having an Apache come screaming overhead close enough to high five the pilot and then hanging around to drop the wrath of God on anybody that looks like they are thinking of messing with you is awesome.
  6. noticed that you are using the new logo as your avatar. Here is one with a transparent background for you. I have tried to post it as an attachment but the system keeps converting it to a jpg and that loses the transparency. http://www.c-edesign.com/VR.GIF
  7. Mini, You can pass on to him that when you are on the ground pulling security outside the wire, an Apache overhead is MUCH more appreciated than a 60. Glad he got there OK. And as far as leaving, that usually goes a little easier. Getting out of Kuwait into Iraq or Afghanistan is a pain. Coming out of Kuwait to the states is easy in comparison.
  8. Don't get too stressed. It may take him a bit to get to a phone in his new locale.
  9. I found that a rolled up Frogg Tog towel, soaked in water, wrapped around my neck helped a lot. I wrap it so that the ends go down the back of my shirt/gear and I get the most coverage of the carotid arteries. The evaporative cooling there will help a bit.
  10. Muffinman, not sure if you are at Ali Al Saleem or one of the other bases in Kuwait. I had been through Ali several times and found out after I got back to the States that there is a swimming pool on the US Air Force side of Ali, and supposedly a haji shop near the air force side. The haji shop sells cheap movies, etc. The bus that runs to the AF side stops there but you have to ask which stop it because they don't announce it.
  11. Not really, they got a Hofbrauhaus in Milwaukee. I mean I did the analysis, beer versus doughnuts. Beer won.
  12. Hey Jeff. Don't worry about leaving your wallet in the truck. I'll take REAL good care of it till you get back.
  13. It has been proven that on the KLR, the optimum place to put the bell is through a nose ring on the rider. Something about road clearance height to power to cool points ratio.
  14. I would avoid I95 between Richmond and NJ if at all possible. I had not been on it for years, thought I could make some time heading up it on a Sunday. Not recommended unless you like walking the bike a lot. Good luck on your trip.
  15. Actually the new logo would look fairly crappy on a cap. The logo used on the caps is downsized even from the old logo because trying to fit that much detail into the space available on a cap front would be just about impossible. Rule of thumb for embroidery is that you usually don't even try to do lettering unless it is least 1/4 of an inch.
  16. If you do the rear replacement, just be careful when you remount the crash bars. I lost sight of one of the wires and squeezed it pretty bad between the bar and the frame.
  17. I have relatives who were troopers. I can understand, a little bit, letting a fellow cop slide, but for more than double the speed limit. No way. And I wouldn't have any respect for anyone who would turn a blind eye to that. I still recall a cousin who was fairly high up in the state patrol. His mom got a ticket one day and told him about it, thinking he might "help" out. His response was, "I guess that will teach you to keep your foot out of the carbureator".
  18. I had mine done and I don't have the whine now. It has been a couple of months.
  19. Ohio State Patrol clocked a couple of motorcycles speeding. The lead was going 147 MPH. There is video on this link along with the story. The quote that got me was: http://www.nbc4i.com/cmh/news/local/article/osp_video_off-duty_trooper_officer_ticketed_for_speeding/19172/ Trooper Bryan Lee: “Either one of you have anything on you I need to know about?” “No sir. A couple badges is all,” one of the motorcyclists said. They were given tickets later but not during the traffic stop. All I could think of was that if it had been me, they would have had me on the ground and cuffed before hauling me in.

  21. Glad this phase is over for you. I hope the healing process goes well for you all.
  22. Thanks Boomer. My "movie" was a lot drier than Nam. I have to tell you though, when someone says Welcome home, I think about the line from the movie where they are about to deploy. I can't phrase it right but it was about home being with your fellow soldiers. Guess that I kinda agreed with that. Spent the first couple months back in the states PO'ed that I wasn't still with my team. But thanks for the welcome, and welcome home to you as well. The Army has a program now where they allow some of the guys that were badly wounded, amputees, etc. go back to the places they were at when they had to be evacuated so that they can get some closure by leaving on their own.
  23. If you aren't familiar with the IA Drang valley and the actions of men like Freeman watch the movie, We Were Soldiers Once, and Young. Or better yet, read the book. I have a tough time watching some of the movie but I think it is one of the better movies I have seen.
  24. Glad you are back on a bike.
