  1. Pictures man...pictures.
  2. Verdict is still out. The difference is not immediately apparent though.
  3. OK...since there are several REMOVE/INSTALL speaker threads with pictures...I am only submitting these. These are how the baffles look when installed.
  4. Bubber...I did take a few pics...but they are pretty much the same as everyone else has posted...I did take a picture of the baffles after I installed them. When uninstalling the old speakers...don't forget the little PHILLIPS SCREW on the inside of the fairing (but towards the outside of each speaker. The BIGGEST tip I found (after working on the LEFT speaker for over an hour) was how to get the bottom right hand screw to get started...the other screws started fine. But that bottom screw is a PAIN. OK, the trick I learned is to take a phillips screw driver and push it through the bottom right screw hole FROM THE BACK. Then place the screw over the tip of the Phillips head and slowly pull the screwdriver out while pushing the bottom (and the other screws simultaneously) into the all the holes. I did end up putting female connectors on one side and spade (male) connectors on the other end of a 3" piece of wire for each connection. I taped each set together just to make it look better. The baffles was basically STUFFING the baffles on the inside and then forcing the screws through pre-made holes (I did this earlier). The two INSIDE nuts have washers, but I put washers on ALL of the screws. On the outside lip of the baffles I used double sided tape to make a "seal". I come back with some duck tape just to reinforce holding the baffle down. Earlier I had poked a hole on the outside side of the baffle for speaker connectors to pass through and then used dielectric grease on all connections. Wally (pictures to follow).
  5. Son of a Bike the Venture is... DANG.!! I did the Polk401B replacement today. DANG. I ain't that much trouble with a screw since I was 18 years old. The replacement is simple technically, but DANG, getting to those nuts is tough (again, I ain't heard that since I was 18). The LEFT SIDE (clutch side) was the worst!!! It took me a total of about 5 hours (this includes numerous breaks - temps here around 98 degrees). I also installed baffles behind the speakers...and that was easy enough to do, but you're doing some stuffing. At first I hooked up (installed) one of the Polks and compared the sound...takes a LOT more volume for the same sound on the Polks. At first I even considered leaving the Clarions (stock) on the bike...but when I put the baffles in...the sound changed and the speakers sounded pretty dang good, so I changed the other side out. The RIGHT SIDE took HALF the time to install that the left side did... More of a review after I have used these speakers for awhile. Wally
  6. SilvrT, don't leave us hanging.... You told us about the hardware...how do you feel about the content!
  7. I LOVES MY XM Radio on zumo 665!!!
  8. I saw Greenfield Village when I was 8 years old. I remember parts of it vaguely, but the thing is that I remember it. So I am assuming it is a very cool place!! I would love to go back... I want to say they had some Thomas Edison stuff there...but again, I was only 8 years old.
  9. This is fun... So where would you install the sub? And how would you get the sound "outside"?
  10. I think I almost understood that... So Gary...what would be YOUR optimal set up with Venture and 4" speakers? Or am I missing the point here. Wally
  11. So what you are saying is that a 400 watt amp would be much better than a 200 watt amp? Both the volume and quality of the sound is better with the larger amp? Also...what would a 400 watt amp do to the electrical system? Is that too much draw?
  12. Don...when you had the amplifier...did you also have the stock clarions...or had you put the Polks in there? Thanks. Wally
  13. Just curious for those that have installed an AMPLIFIER on their RSV's...are you happy with it? Was the cost of that upgrade WORTH the enhanced sound quality, or was the sound quality only slightly improved? Did you install in the trunk or under the fairing? Have you had ANY issues with the electrical system since installing this upgrade? I know there are several threads about what kinds, and how to mount, but hopefully this is a "different" thread. Thanks for all your replies. Wally
  14. I think it was either staged or trick videography too...still COOL. I played it and and stopped it off and on and I THINK I see where there is a "JUMP" in the video just before he catches it...but I ain't no video expert, I ain't no Steven Speilberg, and I certainly didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Yeah...What Bubber said...can also be said of myself. Mine will be here at the same time.
  16. So I guess it doesn't come with a Clearview Shield, it comes with an InvisiShield.
  17. With custom work like that...I'm sorry, I just can't see it.
  18. I am thinking (scary I know) that what he was really trying to say is how to tell when it is full. What I do is pump until the level no longer goes down, that way you have a standardized way of measuring the amount of fuel put in and it also increases your precision for calculating MPG.
  19. Thanks Keith...I know now, but that is a great piece of information there. Thanks. Wally
  20. yeah...that's what I am thinking about the fronts. Looks like they don't rotate their tires at the warehouse though. LOL When I first opened these...I looked at the front tire first and thought it was a blemished tire because it had this CHUNK of rubber missing on the edge of the tread...then I realized it matched the logo on the side of the tire...that's a nasty (and strange place to put it) logo on this tire...but as long as they give me a good ride...I'm good!! Wally
  21. The front is 0610 The rear is 1910 I don't think that is too bad. Wally
  22. samsavage...You are right. I found the correct date codes...My Bad!! I am sorry for this confusion (on my part). Wally
  23. Hey Goose...I have gone through quite a few threads here on the Avons and even though there has been a problem with cracking, I bought them anyway because of the positive reports on handling and wear. I bought my set online from Jake Wilson...got them today. Looking at the date codes this is what I see... The front tire is: 02411MA and the rear tire is: 02403MA So does this mean the rear tire they sold me is 8 years old? Is this something I should be concerned with? It looks fine, but 8 years old seems a "tad" bit old considering the numbers of tires this company probably sells. One last quick question...I saw conflicting reports on wet weather handling on the Venoms...your actual opinion. Others feel free to leave opinions or comments too. Thanks... Wally
  24. Let's ask this way... In the states of Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana, Colorado, and Oklahoma... Which of these gas stations are the most prevalent, and which are not existent? Conoco Phillips 66 Shell Citgo Exxon Marathon Standard And any others that have a major presence in the state. If you only know for your state, that would be fine.
  25. Ok, I have googled it and couldn't find an answer. What I am looking for is a list (or database) of what brands of gasoline that are in each U. S. state. In other words, Oklahoma has 1500 Phillips 66 stations, 800 Citgo stations and etc. Does anyone know of a list, database, or POI of this? Thanks, Wally
