  1. Ah, I was getting bored but not anymore; thanks for the uplifting note; but I did say I was sorry if I offended anyone and I did not see any prayer (which I firmly believe in) in the message. something like watching tv eh...if you don't like it change the channel.
  2. Do we really need this kind of religious news on our site. Read the paper or listen to the news for up to date coverage on polictical and religious news, murder and other mayhem. I know we are open to all views but......oh yeah I forgot......freedom of expression and speech. Sorry about that; hope I did not offend anyone.

    horns

Bring up another old topic: horns I am looking at the RIVCO air horns from Buckeye. They apparently install on the swing arm of the 2nd generation RSV. Mine is a 2001 RSV. Have any of you had any experience with these horns ie ease of install, life span, mainteance etc.? Thanks all Jinx
  4. Hey there I purchased an 01 in 08 and the whine is there and consistent. I like to think that I noted a bit of a decrease when I switched to full syn oil. (Yamalube) But in any event, in no time I was used to it and it is just part of the integral part of a finely tuned machine. Great price = great ride = great fun Jinx
  5. HI there: Can you send me the pricing for 2 - 3 1/2 inch patches please. Jinx
  6. If you access the Clearview Site; it will provide you with good information and the selection process is quite "clear" I am looking forward to some warmer weather so I can install my new Clearview on my 01 RSV. Lots of good reviews on this product and it looks like it will fit my requirements. The company is very good to work with. Jinx:080402gudl_prv:
  7. I just took delivery of my light grey tint clearview shield which is 3 inches shorter and 4 inches wider than stock. I will not be able to install it until spring; the quality of the shield is quite evident. I appreciated the way the company kept me informed of the steps through the development of the shield and the date of the shipping. I am looking forward to the test ride. I don't think you can go wrong with this product. Good luck with your decision. Ken aka Jinx:snow2:
  8. Hey there: I type this as we sit with about 1 foot + of snow already on the ground and more coming. I bought my 01 2nd hand and the guy included a Yamaha tank bag with it. Fits very nice and I used it this summer on a 5800 k trip. Very happy with it. Attaches to the tank via magnets and they were sufficienly covered with material so as not to scratch the tank. Good luck with your search. Jinx:snow2:
  9. I did it the other way around and have no regrets. I was a dyed in the wool gold wing fan including a unique tattoo but not no more, no more, no more. Although we all have our favorites I have given up the tank for a cruiser and it has been a real head turning riding experience. Jinx:snow2:
  10. Hey there: I sold my 84 gold wing last year and purchased a 01 RSV. I do some tripping with a cousin who has a 08 gold wing. It is an individual choice of course but I very much prefer my RSV over his "tank". I have ridden my 84, a 95 and the 08 Gold Wings but I find the seating on the RSV better than the tanks. The styling, ride, handling is totally different between the wings and the rsvs and for the money I have no trouble recommending the rsv. Of course it does not have all the bells and whistles that the tanks do but for the price it is awful tough to beat the RSV; and there are lots of options that you can add to it. Good luck with your decision and good riding. Jinx
  11. Thanks all for your input. I will be ordering the 404s in the near future. The VentureRider.Org site has paid off once again. You all take care.....on a side note, our riding season is looking like it is coming to an end. Weather is the pits; so it is a good time to order parts and begin the winter storage routine. Awful short season as we usually get some decent weather these days but.....
  12. I need to change my tires now and I want to keep the whitewalls going; but I have read a lot of bad press about the 404s. Besides you, how many other rsv riders out there have had no problems with the 404s and how have they handled rainfalls etc? Looking forward to hearing from you and please do not hesitate to make note of what has worked for you. Thanks much.
  13. Well done; I sold my 84 Wing that I had since new and bought an 01 last August. Outside of the usual already talked of little faults the rsv has brought on a completely new ride and experience. Put about 5400 k on a trip this summer in the Canadian Rockies and over to Vancouver Island without any glitches and it was pure gold. Both bikes are good; it is whatever you are looking for that will tell the day and I am enjoying the change immensely...
  14. When I was riding my 84 Aspencade I switched to syn. Ran quieter and just fine with no oil leaks at about 120 k. Switched my 01 RSV to yamalube 15 50 about two weeks ago with 83,000 k and runnning just fine; gear noise somewhat quieter as well. Great stuff. Hopefully you should have no problems. Just 4 days now from a trip from central Manitoba :big-grin-emoticon:out to Vancouver Island off the coast of British Columbia for about 12 days. Hopefully the weather will change for the better: hotter, sunnier and no more bloody rain. Jinx
  15. Excellent choice; I used those on my 84 Wing before upgrading to my 01 RSV and will replace with same when my existing ones wear out. They are really good in the rain and that seems to be all it wants to do up here. What size did Yamaha recommend?
