  1. Turns out it's less than 20 lbs in the original box. Here's the quote for residential delivery of 20 pounds to your zip code. UPS Ground 16.75 USD Fuel Surcharge 0.67 USD Charges Per Package 17.42 USD Shipment Total: 17.42 USD Later, Scooter Bob
  2. Ya, that bridge looks awesome. :happy65:Is it fairly new? We found one on one of the rustic roads last year west of Minacqua in the Chequamegon National Forest. It had a plaque with construction facts on it that said it was built in 1995. I put on a couple pics of it. Ok, only supposed to get to 50 degrees today, but at least the sun is supposed to shine after most of a weeks absence. We are going for a putt this afternoon. What's the target we can be looking for?? Later, Scooter Bob
  3. We've been kickin' around the idea of building some type of aluminum pull behind camper trailer for our bike. While searchin' the web for shape and other feature ideas, came across this sight. http://www.microlitetrailer.com/microlitegallery.html click on moto-mate Found some other brands hooked to GW, BMW, Kaw Voyager, and HD, but this one really caught my eye. Anybody here?? Later, Scooter Bob
  4. You're right, I can meet another bike on the road, and know that's what it was. Worst part was, I had no idea how good mine sounded, until the guy I sold it to took it for a test ride. I told him "be nice to it, it's only got 100 miles on a fresh top end". He pulls out of the drive and up to a stop light 1/2 a block away and a crotchrocket comes up behind him. He nailed it, and oh how sweet it sounded. 2 blocks down the street I saw the cherries come out of the trees. Rode down to find him on a side street getting a talkin to. We made the deal in front of the squad car while he was getting written up for 43 in a 25. Later, Scooter Bob
  5. Mine comes from my first Bike, well sort of a bike. I bought a brand new left over 85 Honda Spree in 87 for 5 bills, just to get around town to work and such. Two months later, I had 2,000 miles on it, 200 on labor day weekend alone. I had that thing in every town within 30 miles of Beaver Dam. I just had this riding thing in my blood I guess. Decided I needed something bigger, and jumped on a 83 sportster for a test ride, and away I went. The guys at the local biker bar handed me the name, and it has stuck ever since. I'm sure someone in some huge megacity in the far east will be upset with me for moving up from the scooter, but that's there problem. Later, Scooter Bob
  6. Squidley, I kept a 72 Shovelhead FLH on the road for 12 years and 70,000. Tore it apart completely a couple times for new paint. Had to do a top end every 20,000. Last year I had it, I took it on a two week, 4,500 mile trip to Vegas, Yellowstone, Sturgis and back. I've done it all and seen it all on those things. That's why I've got a RSV now. Seriously, give me a call if you need anything. I actually do like them old bikes, and working on them, just don't want one to be my daily driver. Later, Scooter Bob
  7. Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!!!
  8. Are you coming up to do some work on the "Beaver Dam"? Just kiddin', but it's a city 10 miles South of here. And if your in the neighborhood, give us a shout. I'll get it down out of the rafters this weekend, not sure when we'll get down to Beaver Dam to the UPS store to check on the shipping though, but should know by the middle of the week. A quick check at UPS website says 4 days to deliver, I put in a guess at 40 pounds, delivered to residential address- UPS Ground 28.17 USD Fuel Surcharge 1.06 USD Charges Per Package 29.23 USD Shipment Total: 29.23 USD I put in a guess at 30 pounds, delivered to residential address- UPS Ground 22.42 USD Fuel Surcharge 0.84 USD Charges Per Package 23.26 USD Shipment Total: 23.26 USD I'll get a better weight on it when I get it down, but if this is reasonable, please let me know. I would just as soon take it to the store only once and send it. Later, Scooter Bob
  9. You can have it, just cover the shipping. Where are you at? Do you want to come pick it up, or should I look into shipping prices for you? Later, Scooter Bob
  10. Let me think about it, and if we had some other use for it. I've got the one from my 05 Midnite left over from the deer hit 3 months ago. Has baseball size dents in lower front area on both sides and another one on top left where the handlebar end hit. I'll get back to you soon if I want to part with it or not. Later, Scooter Bob
  11. Glad you enjoyed it. I saw him in Deadwood about 10 years ago. From the pics of him lately, he's aged quite a bit since then. 10 years probably hasn't been kind to the voice box either. Happy Concerting, Scooter Bob
  12. We head to central WI the second weekend in OCT for the State ABATE meeting every year. I've seen a couple Air cannons on the freeway in that neiborhood that weekend and had heard there was a competition around there. I couldn't find any info on the net last night though about the event this year. If there was one, I wouldn't be able to hit the target till then, unless I find one somewhere else. It certainly is a most unique target though. I'd say give it at least through this weekend, cus I'd like to see a pic of another one. Later, Scooter Bob
  13. Go to USER CP>Edit Signature, and you load it in there Good Luck, Scooter Bob
  14. You WIN !! What's next? Am I gonna have to ride back to IL again this week? Looking forward to the next target, Scooter Bob
  15. Are you sure you're firing on all 4?? I've read on here about quite a few folks that had a bad coil, and didn't realize for a while. Do a search here for coil problems and see if some of the symptoms match. Could be the coil starts working at the higher rpms after the downshift. Just a thought, Scooter Bob
  16. The next target is.....You with your bike, next to a state welcome sign, other than the state you live in. Scott, Does a mirror and a forehead count?????? Left work at 3:05pm, home at the puter at 6:55pm, and 190 miles later, here's the pick at the IL state line south of Clinton, WI. I need a couple beers to think about it, but I'll get the next target up shortly. Later, Scooter Bob P.S. I need to move farther north, I didn't realize if I take the 2 lanes pretty much straight south from here, it's only 84 miles to flatland!!! The next target.... You and your bike in front of a "Curling Club". Sign of the club must be in the pic. No, I'm not into sliding a rock down a strip of ice, but for some some reason this idea popped into my head (I think because of a radio ad running around here that pokes fun at the sport of Curling). A quick Google shows them to be all over, so good luck, and i hope this isn't a thread killer. If it turns out to be, I've got another target in mind. P.S.S. Krispy, lots of 'em in MN
  17. I smell a quick ride to the flatland border after work today!!!! Later, Scooter Bob
  18. Here's a bunch more things changing for Texas this month. Here's an excerpt from the newsbytes I handed out the info at our ABATE meeting Tuesday night. THE AIM/NCOM MOTORCYCLE E-NEWS SERVICE is brought to you by Aid to Injured Motorcyclists (A.I.M.) and the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM), and is sponsored by the Law Offices of Richard M. Lester. For more information, call us at 1-(800) ON-A-BIKE or visit us on our website at www.ON-A-BIKE.com. NCOM BIKER NEWSBYTES Compiled & Edited by Bill Bish, National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM) MULTI-FACETED MOTORCYCLE BILL ENACTED IN TEXAS Senate Bill 1967, authored by Texas State Senator John Carona (R-Dallas) and sponsored by Representative Norma ”Da’Lady” Chavez (D-El Paso), introduces many motorcycle-related changes in the Lone Star State. Included in the bill are 1) funding by Texas Department of Transportation for a public awareness campaign to promote motorcyclist safety and the concept of sharing the road with motorcyclists; 2) changes to the definition of a motorcycle to include certain enclosed three-wheeled passenger vehicles; 3) changes to the licensing requirements for enclosed three-wheeled passenger vehicles; 4) a requirement for all applicants for a motorcycle license or endorsement on a regular or commercial driver's license to provide proof of successful completion of a basic motorcycle operator training course; 5) penalties for failure to yield the right-of-way violations resulting in bodily injury range from $500 to $2,000 while those resulting in serious bodily injury range from $1,000 to $4,000; 6) a prohibition against stopping or detaining a motorcycle operator or passenger solely to determine whether the person has successfully completed a motorcycle operator training and safety course or is covered by a health insurance plan; 7) a requirement for the Department of Transportation to develop a standard of proof of health insurance coverage for adult motorcycle operators and passengers; and 8) a requirement that all driver education courses or driving safety courses include information on motorcycle awareness, dangers of failure to yield the right-of-way to motorcyclists, and the need to share the road with motorcyclists. Governor Rick Perry signed the bill into law on June 19; it becomes effective September 1, 2009. “We made history, Warriors,” exclaimed Sputnik, State Chairman of the Texas Motorcycle Rights Association (TMRA-II) and Chairman of the National Coalition of Motorcyclists Legislative Task Force (NCOM-LTF). “We owe Da’Lady and her entire staff a huge debt of gratitude for all the work they did for riders this session.” Just for everyone's info, Scooter Bob
  19. To comment further... It has very little lifter noise/clatter, almost sewing machine like. It runs smooth and fine and gets good fuel mileage(46 mpg on the two lanes). Most wear will come in the form of lobe/bucket wear and get more clearance and show up as lifter noise. I've owned an Ironhead Sporster and a Shovelhead, both with solid lifters that needed adjusting every thousand miles or so. And, when adjusted, it was a night and day difference, easily noticeable, and I knew when they weren't right. "Probably wouldn't hurt." It would hurt my pocketbook big time if I took it to the shop for the job(I've heard $400 or more). It's certainly nothing I wouldn't try by myself, but the nearest shop for the parts is 30 minutes away for me, I would want all the parts here ahead of time cus it's a boring ride in the truck. I met a guy at the STAR testride booth in Sturgis in 06. He had 221,000 miles on a 99. He paid the shop to check the valves at around 36k miles, and the were all fine. He hadn't done it again. Help me out here guys, I know I'm not the only one... Just my $.02, Scooter Bob
  20. I've got 58,000 miles on and it still sounds fine(Just ask RedRider) and runs fine, so I'll wait a while. Later, Scooter Bob
  21. Defineately use a gun or a bow of some sort. They are much cheaper than them hunting bikes me and BongoBobNY have been using. Good Luck, Enjoy, and take as many of them as you can(legally) so the rest of us don't get hurt on the road. Thanks, Scooter Bob
  22. Get some tennis balls to go with the cones, maybe some small stuffed animals and a landing net, a clothes line and some rags and pins, a couple empty half barrels or garbage cans, and we'll have some fun one of those evenings. I'll have to show someone else how to be the ref though, cus Karen and I will want to play!!!! Later, Scooter Bob
  23. Says about 500 miles from Fox Lake, WI. We're seriously thinking about it. If work, dog sitters and the like all works out, we'll be in Friday night, and leave Monday Morn. What day are those bike games again???? we'd love to play along!!! Later, Scooter Bob and Karen
  24. We did score the old school house just a few miles away a couple weeks ago, but I just wanted to get the thread moving again. If this one sits too long, I'll do the same again. Back in early March, the target was a business with an "X" in the name. That was waaayyy too easy to find in Fox Lake, WI; and it was going to get to the upper 50's that day, so we rode 110 miles south to Fox Lake, IL and started looking for the target there. Just a reason to ride somewhere; got to love it!! Seems there is too much else going on around here for rides in the summer to find the extra time to play the right way (my right way). But, fall is coming, and all the scheduled stuff will die off, and we'll still be wanting to ride. Later, Scooter Bob Current Target by Krispy is.... OK, next target. How about your bike in front of a "Mom & Pop" type drive-in restaurant, with you feeding your face on your favorite menu item. No chain type places allowed. You know, MacDonalds, Hardees, etc. Should be in riding range of most folks, and an excuse for a ride, and a treat. Ready, set, go.....:ICwink:
  25. Mullins Drive INN, Family owned since 1934, no inside seating, closed in the winter, has car hops or you can sit at the picnic tables in the yard. Krispy, it has everything you are looking for. :happy65:Just one problem though... IT'S TOO CLOSE TO OUR HOUSE TO FIT INTO MY RULES FOR THE "GREAT VR SCAVENGER HUNT"....about 6 blocks:whistling: Someone else come on over and check it out. It's a Gem, real nice place. Give us a call if you're in the neighborhood We'll go looking for one farther away this weekend I hope.. Later. Scooter Bob
