  1. Love the picture. I am at the start of riding again after poor health forced me to neglect my 02 RSMV. Mechanics are done and bike is sans saddlebags fuel tank and leather ready for the foam bath to clean it well. Some TLC and I ride off Sunday.
  2. +++++on BuBs
  3. Starting Sunday I synced the carbs after a rebuild earlier, yesterday I put the air plenum back on and removed the Carb tune hoses and replaced the vacuum hoses, and today I drained the final drive and oil. Tomorrow I will replace oil and Hypoid gear oil. The brake and clutch fluid follows and then drain and replace the engine coolant. A super clean on engine and body and all is good for the next 50k.
  4. I believe that I am done with this thread. It is much like the Republicans and Democrats in that there is no solution for either party. Yes I have a RSMV but I have had many Harleys and Triumphs and Beesers and Hondas and Ariel Square Fours and a Mammoth. I loved them all.
  5. I have a problem...not with the moped but the cleanliness of your work space. You must stop this now. How can you spend time looking for misplaced tools and parts?
  6. I am speechless. I will pray for all of your family.
  7. Yes they do require upper body strength. I bought and installed a Hannigan on my 02 RSMV and it did not take long to see this wasn't for me. Could have spent more money on "easy steer" in the hopes that it would help, but gave up and sold the side car.
  8. I have no gripes.
  9. I love all the hoopla over the new Stratoliner, er Venture, but I am one of the senior VR members who remember that water cooled equals comfort. Have had Ultra Classics in my days and other air cooled bikes, but when I bought my 02 RSMV I found Heaven and and enjoy it still.
  10. I wouldn't expect it to fire after 3 yrs. sitting. Most likely will have to flush fuel system and rebuild carbs. And check for rust in the tank for sure.
  11. If you haven"t dropped a bike yet, your time is coming. If you haven't had "road rash" yet, your time is coming. I have been riding since 1959 and all of those predictions and more will come true. I have learned from my errors. I hope you do also.
  12. Sorry about that, had that same issue going to Canada once. I will call our President and see what he can do for you. In the meantime I hope to see you two when you arrive.
  13. Ours does also.
  14. Yes for me, what headlight is that.
  15. What can I say that hasn't been said other than I thank God you are still with us. I feel your pain since I have been there, and you need to take it easy or you will lock up (know this since I've been there). Best of all brother,

  17. What is this Broview lamp?
  18. Put this in 1st Generation Tech Talk and you will get repies.
  19. I use the Deka AGM and have since the original Yuasa died in 2010 ( the bike is 2002). The Deka is my first replacement, but it is always on a tender in the shop.
  20. I just noted that I titled this wrong, IT IS THE RIGHT SIDE CYLINDERS ARE COLD NOT LEFT. Age thing I guess. Won't make any difference, same problem.
  21. Had time this morning to pull the fuel tank and air plenum, checked the plugs and have fire there, then removed the right vent tube and it was clear, so therefore I will have to get it to the shop for tuneup etc. Thanks for all the help.
  22. Very interesting. I will look into this after the spark check. Thanks
  23. Rebuilt the carbs on my 2002 and fired it up yesterday. While on choke trying to warm and set the idle @ 1000 rpm, it was backfiring loud but got the idle set and shut it down. This evening I fired it up after warm up and I cut the choke and it idled at 1000 RPM. The right side exhaust was cold but the left wasn't. I am thinking coils or??? Oh by the way I put new NKG plugs in before start up.
  24. This is the perfect spot for me to post. Rebuilt the carbs on my 2002 and reinstalled. Fired it up yesterday and got up to temps and had lots of backfire trying to set the idle at 1000 rpm. Let sit until this evening and fired again, warmed up some and cut back choke and it idled at 1000 rpm but the right side exhaust was cold while the left wasn't. I did put new NKG plugs in it so I am thinking coils? Maybe there is more if you can respond.
  25. There are many STAR Touring members here. Where else could they find information and technical procedures.
