  1. I am trying to wrap my head around the desire to haul waste oil to my property, start filtering the nasty stuff, have biohazard spills to deal with, have vermon to deal with, start up costs, and all for what...to save a few dollars? Not for me.
  2. If you think deer are bad on the Interstates, I saw a black bear of at least 400lbs. on the side of I-40 west of Morganton, NC.
  3. Sylvester

    gas price

And I was upset when it cost me $51.11 to fill up my 1500 Silverado.
  4. My plan was to have land first, that I could grow on. That is what started it all. Always loved the taste and convenience of canned goods on my grandparents farm in Iowa. The generator came as the result of multiple power outages (thank you Duke Energy). And solar came as a cost savings idea (yet to be determined).
  5. I also don't consider myself a prepper, but I grow produce and can. I also have two freezers with venison and beef plus other staples. I also have solar panels and a backup 22k generating system with a five hundred gallon propane tank. And a 108 foot deep well, and septic system for waste. I never thought of going third world when I planned my mini farm. Other neighbors have similar operations and we are all armed due to the very rural area we live in plus we will defend each other. One neighbor has a hundred head of cattle that we could use since market prices would be zero, but we would have to militia up to protect our food supply. All in all I don't like the idea of having to defend what is mine from marauders, but to protect my wife and neighbors I will. God help us.
  6. He does do great work.
  7. I am trying to remember the member here that made the receiver mount to attach to the RSV. Worked great on mine, so if I can't remember someone else may chime in.
  8. The Venture light housing is not friendly to light unit changes. I have changed my headlight to an Adjure wave lens. This requires cutting the old lens reflector loose and using JB weld to secure the new. Has held for eleven years.
  9. If you could find a BSA 442 Victor you would be in love. What a machine and I had one. Single cylinder with torque out the wazoo. Ride it where you like, it will go there.
  10. Would love to come but going up north of Boone with my love of 47 years to chill in the mountains.
  11. Or so you think. He could be a statistic by now. Saw a guy this morning pull into the pumps and proceed to fuel his HD Roadking without getting off the bike. Only to get a back splash of gas. He came off it fast and kept grabbing his jewels that were soaked.
  12. Had a Honda with auto for a short while circa 1969. Think it was a 350 but don't remember. I was wheeling and dealing bikes then and choppers were my love. Had an Ariel Square Four then also with a left sidecar that I bought from a serviceman that brought it back from Germany. Wish I had it now.
  13. WOW I can't believe two jogs of memory in one thread. First: the use of tubes in tubeless tires I had a HD Ultra back in the 90s that got a flat and the option was either new tire or a tube. Took the tube and all was well until a replacement tire was needed 8000 miles later. And to think my friend Puc went out and made a video to help someone. Second:tubes in radial tires Purchased a new 68 Ford XL and took it to the Michelin store in Omaha and had new tires swapped. They didn't even keep the old tires. Told me I could keep them if I wanted. Driving that new car was an adventure since other drivers would flash lights and point at my wheels since they were flat looking. Wonderful handling over bias tire BUT due to the flex in the tires when I would turn corners occasionally my hubcaps would go rolling down the pavement. Oh the memories, amazing what little it takes to bring them back.
  14. I don't know if it would work in your local but I found the .45/70 to be fantastic when I was hunting Nebraska.
  15. Thank you, Puc. I am not in the market for the new Venture as you know, but appreciated the riders comments. Seems to parallel your earlier comments plus "awe poop". My 2000 Ultra fried my legs so when I bought my RSMV I was in heaven. My wife loved it too and the room up front for me was great.
  16. I love your videos for knowledge first but for voice inflection and humor second.
  17. Great news, prayers still going North.
  18. Hard to miss the Henderson motorcycle, but Puc knows them all. Hey Puc ever seen a Mammoth?
  19. Great to hear from you. Sorry for all your losses but as was said to me today "the beat goes on". Look forward to many more posts from you and North Carolina is close to get together when time is available.
  20. Racing is a money sport for the big league.
  21. Prayers for Sharon.
  22. The same reason I never bought one. Need my feet forward.
  23. Yes Big Lenny you should have gone to Prescott. Awesome and old timey similar to Jerome but bigger. Sedona is cool but very commercialized. Heck they got a Wallyworld.
  24. You know what is next, Don...safety chrome. And lots of it.
  25. I am very happy for both of you, and your 37th anniversary. Wish you the best on your upcoming procedure and have sent prayers North for good recovery. Keep well my brother.
