  1. Had a very well trained Yamaha mechanic tell me that I need to replace the plugs before doing more flushes on the carbs. His theory is that the plugs are fouled now because of all the varnish, etc. being burned in the cylinders. Just the plugs is all he recommended, for now. This mechanic I trust and have used in the past. He wasn't available when I first posted which may be good, since he already told me that he would have pulled the carbs. I will keep you posted.
  2. Thanks Yammer Dan. I just got it to idle albeit within 500 rpm +/-. That is a good thing! I will go another dose of the Berryman since the tank is full now (7.5 oz to tank). I can't tell you how much I appreciate the help from Ventureriders.com. And you Yammer Dan, Wild Bill1 and Syper 316 a special thanks.
  3. Here are the details of my ride this afternoon... It runs and pretty well all things considered . It powers up from start and through all gears, but at idle I have to tickle the throttle to keep it running. I tried adjusting the idle screw on the right side but it does nothing for the idle. Oh, and it backfires on deceleration 2000 rpm. I was wondering, if I were to mix up twenty or less gallons of gas with another 15 oz can of Berryman B-12 Chemtool fuel system cleaner (can't help advertising this great product) and run it through for the next three or four tanks, would this be a wise move? If it weren't for the idle I would be all thumbs up on this episode in my life. Let me know what you think. And thank you all for helping me this far along from where I was.
  4. I did as you said. I actually heard a difference in the exhaust after five minutes. Still dies when the choke is off. The good news is that the Berryman B-12 is in the carbs.
  5. Thanks, I will do that. I will leave it in the tank (petcock off) until I can run it hard.
  6. To Snyper, Yammer Dan and Wild Bill, Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. I picked up the Berryman Chemteck B-12 carburetor and system cleaner at my Walmart ($2.94/15 oz can) so I bought two. One for my twenty year old Ford F 150 4x4. I think it would not hurt to run a can through the system on the old girl, after 238,000 miles. Back to the post. I have drained the fuel tank of all gas and reserve gas. I have measured out 1.5 gal (about 1/4 of a tank) of clean fresh gas and just wanted to double check, I put the 15oz. can into the gas and then into the gas tank. That is 15/192 ratio. After I get your approval I will put in the tank, leaving the petcock off until I have time to run it like I stole it. Wild Bill, if you want some I will pick it up for you since I work in Mooresville and I could drop it off for you. Thanks again,
  7. I will give it a try. Already dumped a can of Seafoam in it but no help. Anything beats going through all the work of a rebuild.
  8. Thanks Snyper, and worst case is I will rebuild them. I doubt if there is much more than varnish to clean out. But I sure would like experience looking over my shoulder.
  9. Looking to see if anyone in the area comfortable with rebuilding the carbs on my 02 RSMV. I can take the unit off but am not too comfortable going through them. They have no idle anymore due to my neglect. Run great above 3000 rpm but without choke will die at idle. I had health issues and did not treat the fuel properly. It ran great in late June but not now. I would greatly appreciate any help.
  10. Thanks for protecting us. And a very very welcome home. God bless you and your family.
  11. Still nothing. 97 degrees here with heat index of 103. Terrible summer for us.
  12. I am sorry to here of your family issues. They always come first, and taking care of them is most important. Vehicles are mostly luxuries and replaceable. But I do love the T-birds and would also like to see a pix. I have had three in the past but they were all sixty series birds (62 Sport Roadster, 66 Landau, 69 Town & Country).
  13. I can't believe the "looney and tooney" are gone. When trucking in the western CN, I would get change from USD in CND. Everybody in NC USA loved the looks and would buy them from me. Another fond memory trashed.
  14. If you are looking for relief from arm pain, I put a set of Tour Master handlebars on my Venture. Wider stance and more pullback. That was seven years ago and I still love them.
  15. Not a thing, with temps around 97-100 and heat index around 101-110, I am not going to sit on that bike to face a blast furnace. Temps at 4:30 AM this morning were 84. I will drive my ac Ford pickup or my ac Mercury SUV thank you.
  16. I have flat mirror Kuryakin with clearance/turn and love them.
  17. I love it, Don. I will pay extra for this service.
  18. Thank you, brother. Glad you are home.
  19. I had that happen two months ago and "wow" I like it.
  20. I have had the Kuryakin clearance and turn flat mirrors for years abd all like them.
  21. What happened to BuBs? I have had them on Sylvester for almost fifteen years and they still get looks from Harley riders.
  22. Awe hell, you deserve better. I have been through in laws with some of same problems, and a fire on my deck. Keep your chin high and focus on what is in front of you. Sorry you have to endure this.
  23. ++ On the Black Box. Been using in over the road driving for years. A quality product.
  24. I seriously advise you to get "Speed Bleeders" and the front are SB7100S (7mm), rear are SB8125L (8mm long) and clutch is SB8125 (8mm std.). But this will help you I hope.
  25. The bucket of the tour pack did the cracking on my RSMV some time ago. Replaced under warranty due to a lack of pads that were supposed to be included.
