  1. You won't be disappointed, that's a fact! I am not lookin back, think I got a buyer for my 96 RS. When all said and done this upgrade will cost less than a grand.
  2. I got 30 mpg used to get maybe 38 on the Royal Star. Believe me it's worth every penny you'll spend on gas. 32 mi. on the tank is no big deal. All that power has to come from somewhere
  3. Got the Valk Wow!!! these puppies are fast and smooth. My 96 Royal Star is a great bike But!!!! Stole this one 5 k, 23,000 with all the goodies Corbin beetle bags and side covers, Ultimate seats new tires. Anyone thinking about these bikes need to ride one.
  4. The bike is running fine all cylinders are firing, yes I brought it up to the rev limiter. yes i sprayed choke cleaner to check for vacum leaks. I think most of you guys have the 2nd gen bike. thats a whole lot of hp more than mine. As I said it's under powered and geared to tall. you guys w 2nd gen bike just pull a plug wire than you'll have about the hp I have.
  5. I just had the valves checked, one out of spec. carbs synced, new iridium plugs all dealer work. The bike runs great. Only 31 k. It's lack of hp and crappy gearing. Pulled a trailer, and double up for 1400 mi last month. Don't think 3 cylinders would work too well. Valkyrie could be in the works.
  6. Just amazed that 5 th is so tall. Any upgrade in the road it's 4th or 3rd and 5th only level or downhill above 70. I know I can put the v max rear end in to change that. But the lack of hp and the tall gearing is making me think twice about keeping my 96 Royal Star. It's showroom and runs great but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. ngk iridium makes difference.
  8. Anyone ever ridden one etc?
  9. I run mine with brights and passing lamps in the daylight, which is legal. Any inconvience isn't going to kill someone in a car. But their stupidity could kill me! Simple as that.
  10. Looking at a 99 with hitch, bag guards , pegs, pinstriped black paint, passenger armrests. Listed a 7500 looks clean on craigslist. These bike seem to get top dollar, 6500 is my max.
  11. 12 " Also remember when you put it together to extend the tongue aprrox 10" there are holes already on the HF trailer to do this. It will pull much better and give you more room for an ice chest.
  12. Just got back from a 1350 mi road trip pulling my trailer and girl ? Had to use 4 gear most of the time. Overdrive is way to tall with a load. I have a 96 just seems to need a little more juice. It runs great but another 20 hp would be nice.
  13. I have OEM that have been modified with memory foam on the passenger and closed cell on the drivers both in perfect condition. I want to sell them if anyone is interested. Very comfy.
  14. Good luck on the seals. I just put 1300+ plus on my hf trailer and the seals i just used are from napa. Do not use the ones that are black and look like the pic on this post they don't fit tight enough they will work loose. Sorry don't have the part # but napa will mike the one you bring in.
  15. What's wrong putting a towel on it. I care how hot my ass will get not what it looks like. Also no one whats to steal a towel.
  16. Just wondering anyone had any power issues while pulling a trailer in high altitude? I will be riding 2 up with the trailer some spots over 8k ft up to almost 10 k. 96 Royal Star has less hp than the newer ones. Thinking premium gas wouldn't hurt either., usually just run regular Kregg
  17. There is always a 20% hf coupon on the internet just google hf coupon.
  18. By the time you buy the tools shims etc. Having someone do it for may make sense. It aint all that easy.
  19. For all the guys that have HF trailers just move the tounge up. You can drill holes in the frame and re bolt. Also there are hole that are already there that give you 10" s more length.
  20. Approx 4 ft width and 6 ft fron axle to tip of tounge stable as could be. Maiden voyage this weekend at 70 + mph fully loaded. 40lb tounge weight.
  21. You gotta be nuts to pay that much for a trailer. Took my craigslist HF trailer and Coleman car topper modified by me at a total cost of $150 on its maiden voyage this weekend. Camped in comfort cruised at 70+ mph no wobble. If you want to look color coordinated spend the 7k
  22. Read all the stuff on valves have the manual, looked at doing it myself. I am pretty good wrench but! Just pick it up from the dealer 3.5 hrs @ 85 bucks shims included if need. Talked with mechanic only 1 intake tight. He said it took better part of a day to do. Money well spent! $297.50 96 royal star boulevard Kregg
  23. Just bring the original into a parts store and make sure the diameter isn't to big and hose ends aren't to small. I even put the original rubber sleeve over it. works just fine for $2.47 it a fuel filter just like what a car would use.
