  1. This is my wife Karen and me on the Blue Ridge PKWY last month. man it was a beautiful ride.
  2. It's 14 here in Knoxville. I won't be riding to work this morning. I may even start my truck and let the heater warm up before I leave.
  3. Now I am really bummed. Every year Knoxville is over run with bikes during the hoot and I haven't had a bike until this year. I was looking forward to it in '09 and now this. I'd still like to invite you all to come to Knoxville during that time. We can think of something to do. We could ask all of the ladies to wear something low cut and call it the Hooters Hoot.
  4. I hope yours work great. I'm sure it's not everyone who has a problem with them.
  5. My mom used to feed us spaghetti from a can when I was a little kid.
  6. Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you guys feel like I do about customer service. From the response I got from Gerbing and the store where I bought them I thought maybe I was being unreasonable for thinking I should get what I paid for. I will send them a link to this thread.
  7. I'm sorry, but I have to vent... I bought a pair of Gerbing heated gloves on November 4. It has been colder here this year than the last couple of years, and I don't want to stop riding yet. The first few times I wore them the temps were in the 40s and they performed fine (my non-heated gloves also do fine at those temps). Well the temperature keeps getting colder, and that's why I paid huge bucks for Gerbing heated gloves. Heated gloves really are the trick. They keep your fingers warm, BUT I started noticing my thumb on my right hand gets freezing cold while the rest of that hand and my left hand are still warm. I mentioned this to another hardy soul at my work who is still riding. He said he had a similar problem with the gloves he bought at Harley Davidson. He took it back and they gave him another. He was back riding in minutes. Well, I paid big mucho bucks for these gloves. They don't work properly. I'll go this evening and get it replaced like my Harley friend did. I only ride 12 miles to work, and the thumb in question gets cold in that short distance. Dixie Custom Cycles in Clinton TN. where I bought the gloves is about 30 miles from work, and my thumb felt like it was frostbit by the time I got there. It's worth it though thinks I,as now I'm back to where warm gloves are sold and they will make it right. I tell the lady there what the problem is and she gives me a look like I had farted or something. I explain it more slowly and finally she takes the glove and plugs it into her display stand (which is a smart thing to do that way she can see that it's not heating as much as the rest of the glove). The problem is she puts the glove on and it feels warm. I try it and it feels warm to me too. It's 68 degrees in the store so everything in the store feels warm. Now why would a sane person (I am sane, but you'll have to take my word on this) ride 20 miles out of his way to have a defective product replaced if it was not defective? Don't answer that yet, let me finish. Ok the only suggestion she has is that I send the offending glove in to Gerbing to "have it rewired". I offered another fix. You could give me a replacement then you can send it off for god knows how long to "have it rewired". She gives me another look like I farted in her showroom. I told her the reason I paid way too much for a pair of heated gloves was so I could avoid situations like this. She said Gerbing is a good company. They will make it right. So I email Gerbing. This is getting way too long, so I'll try to condense the rest of it. I got one email from Heather and one from Carrie basically telling me to mail the glove in they will "look at it" and in 4 weeks (maybe) they'll send it back. I tried to explain that I bought the gloves for cold weather riding, and that it's very cold RIGHT NOW, but that doesn't seem to register with them. So in the last email I just sent. I basically told them that the only thing I could do is complain on the internet. I know some of you on here like Gerbing and that's the reason I chose that brand. I wish now that I had went to the Harley shop where the guy at work got his. It may be the same brand, but at least they did care enough to replace it for him.
  8. More lonely?
  9. I'd love to see Phoenix again. I was there once years ago. Next to TN. I think AZ is one of the prettiest states in the union. It's a little far for a meet and eat though....
  10. That's a nice looking bow. I'm a woodworker who used to shoot what I call a recurve bow. I guess you call it a traditional bow. I've always wanted to make myself a bow, but never took the time to learn exactly how they're made. I may still do it one of these days.
  11. I have an '05 RSTD and it has a clunk at the front when I hit certain bumps.I'd like to know what it is.
  12. Thanks, Don and Shep. I'll probably try it this evening after work. We'll see how it goes. I hope I don't have to change the hoses, but if I do at least I'm expecting it. Maineac, Your link didn't work. Can you just copy and paste it here? Thanks
  13. I just received a pair of Flanders bars and since I've never had the bars off I'd thought I would ask if there's any tricks that make changing them out easier, or anything I need to watch out for while changing them. TIA Jim T.
  14. I say more power to you, but it looks like a losing battle.
  15. I don't know if this helps, but mine had a 5 Amp inline fuse on it.
  16. Whenever I travel, the navigator goes with me,and she's the one who uses the GPS, so I bought a waterproof lighter socket at Walmart (as bad as I hate Walmart, I had a free gift card I had to use). I found an accessory plug under the seat and wired the lighter socket to it with only a few inches of wire. I mounted it to the left rear crash bar with a homemade clamp. I'll attach a picture. We plug the GPS into the socket, and Karen rides with it in her lap and we have a low tech way of communicating. She leans forward and yells in my ear which way to turn.
  17. How do you guys find the time to ride that many miles in such a short time. I think I ride a lot, but I work 40 hrs a week. Are you retired or you just never sleep?
  18. Are you serious?
  19. I think Karen and I would come. It would be Mariott for us too.
  20. Wow, after reading about some of the glitches of some of the higher end GPS units, I'm glad I went cheap. When I bought mine Best Buy had them powered up on a display so you could play with them prior to buying. The Magellan was by far the easiest of the ones they had on display to use. That and the fact that it was the cheapest made my decision for me. I've had it for a couple of years now with no problems whatsoever. It has never locked up or got me lost. It has a large touch screen that's easy to use. It's light weight and has an internal battery (with a short life). The voice does kind of ***** at me if I take a different road than the one suggested, but you can't have everything.
  21. I just used the one I bought for the car. I wired a cigarette lighter plug and mounted it (the plug) at the rear crash bars with a home made clamp. My navigator just holds it in her lap and slaps me up side the head when we need to make a turn.
  22. I can't give you an answer for your electrical problems, but I'd like to welcome you to the forum. Welcome!
  23. Sounds like it would make a cool trailer. Go for it!
  24. That reminds me of when my cousin and I were kids. He had a St Bernard that was in heat, and the neighbors chihuahua came calling. He was actually trying to climb up her leg. It kept us laughing for weeks, every time we'd think about it.
