  1. They had something about them in our local paper this week. They just seem to be colored rubber bands with different shapes. I think they said the most coveted ones are glow in the dark? I can get a ton of them at the local office supply store what they are selling these things for. Only difference is the ones I get come in one shape, circular. I guess I could make them into oval shaped, triangular, etc.... Gotta go, time to water my pet rock.
  2. Sorry, didn't mean those. I meant the ones that look like little blocks of rubber. I think there are 5 of them??? that prevent the bottom of the trunk from hitting your trunk rack.
  3. Don't forget the rubber pieces that go between the bottom of the trunk and the luggage rack. I used to see them on e-bay for $20 but can't find them anymore.
  4. Thanks. I did end up buying jonesy's caliper. Just have to get some $$$ together to get it replaced. Just bought a new tranny pan for my chevelle, so back to broke again. Since I can't trust myself at this point to do something easy like brake pad replacement, ain't gonna attempt this. Question for you though. The add says 4 pistons on the R1. The Venture already has 4. So for an R1 is that 4 per side while the Venture is 2/side?
  5. Prayers sent for a speedy recovery. Jerry-who thinks BoomerCPO really likes them pygmies.
  6. yup, but not the custom line. Just says vtx1300 line since he mentioned tourer. I do see the Custom Interstate model does show FI, but the 1300T(ourer) does not. Missed the Custom Interstate part from the post. I must have been drooling and having good memories from the good ole' days. :-) I like the looks of the Sabre too. Looks like they revamped that model too.
  7. Not sure if there is an eaiser way, but I found these. http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/en-us/d141.html
  8. Guess not. Honda site says Single 38mm constant-velocity carburetor Fuel Capacity4.8 gallons, including 1.0-gallon reserve So you should have a reserve switch.
  9. Congrats on the purchase. I am sure you will enjoy it for many years (as I did when I had my VTX). I probably feels like handling a toy compared to a Venture. One question though Did they fuel inject it? I am sure they have gone through some changes but my '04 had a fuel reserve on it.
  10. If you are referring to the contents in the car topper, I wouldn't think you would have any issues. After all if they did get wet, not as many people wouldn't buy them. If it does leak I would think all you would have to get is some of that foam tape they use for truck bed caps and attach it to either the top or bottom lid where they meet. I can vouche for the sears car topper that I have. Took family trip last year attached to the top of our van. Drove through a few rain storms and everything stayed dry. X-Cargo Sport 20
  11. prayers sent for speedy recovery.
  12. Looks like I am going to have to have it rebuilt, replaced, something. It was my fault, I didn't get the pucks cleaned off enough when I replaced the pads and one of them is now sticking slightly. So now I am going to pay. They do work as is, but unless I want to go through a couple sets of pads in a riding season and to prevent any future issues, I should get it fixed. One of the puck edges has a slight angle to it. Just enough to cause uneven/premature pad wear. Pinwall has some for $25-$30. Would you trust it? After all it is used and makes you wonder what happened to the bike for it be end up in a salvage yard. Llike a rear brake failure causing an accident. I know skydoc has a setup but the price is way too much for me and I just need a rear setup. I know the R1 is more or less a racing bike and brakes designed as such but my concern is the R1 is alot lighter than a Venture. The R1 brakes weren't designed to handle a Venture. I know, I know, all the lawyer speak, liability and such. If we listened to it all, no one would put car tires on a bike either, but let's not get into that discussion. Checked the parts page and entire assembly is $340. Piston assembly by itself is $113 for 1 and $86 for the other but it says it is on backorder. Looks like seals by themselves is $60. Any suggestions?
  13. Anyone have more info. on going from 5 wire to 4 and why people do it? I have hopkins on my RSV and the HF trailer I just bought is a 4 pin. I have running lights, brake lights, left turn, right turn. So not sure what the 5th wire is for on the Hopkins. I at least seem to have what I need.
  14. Isn't that the mold they use the make the cassette decks?
  15. How did you get the tongue so long? I have a harbour freight trailer and need to do this, but not sure how to go about it.
  16. Wonder if it has anything to do w/ Kawa oil? Know 2 guys. One rides a beamer and other used to ride a roadstar. Roadstar buddy decided to try and use the beamer buddy's oil. End result a very costy fix. The beamer oil didn't do so well and burned the pistons or something like that in the roadstar. There might have been some pre-existing issues w/ the engine but the beamer oil finished it off.
  17. Have you looked at other helmets too. I have a Scorpion full face that I like. I think it is a 700 series. They have a new one that is full & 3/4 w/ a face sheild. EXO-900 They even have accessories for more colder weather riding, that you plug in and it clears up the fog on the faceshield. Web-site says it is just like a defroster in a car.
  18. have heard good things from members on this board about pinwall cycles. I haven't bought from them before but I keep meaning (and forgetting) to e-mailing them about something I am looking for.
  19. Haven't heard they cancelled it but last I heard several vendors left and (I think) moved further north. Huge mistake for the powers that be to do some boneheaded things in this economy. They will lose money. Once more businesses suffer maybe they will rethink it and say hmmm maybe it wasn't so bad after all. http://www.myrtlebeachbikeweek.com/ http://www.myrtlebeachbikeweek.com/events.html Anyrate. We will miss both bike weeks in May this year and be there at the end of May instead. We go about every 2 yrs. 1st year we went, we were on a main strip by the beach. Big mistake. People riding no baffles and going all night long. Not a whole lot of sleep going on. I put sleep over partying any day. Years after that weren't so bad. I was really hoping to make it to bike week this year to get my levers wrapped. My father in law had it done last time to his bike and they did a really good job.
  20. 2nd gen. I will see if there is anymore info. that I can post later this afternoon.
  21. He may have it figured out but here is what he says. Let me know your thoughts.
  22. Well had better luck in e-mailing Garmin. They replied back stating they want to call me to setup an RMA. I replied back stating for whatever reason after 2-3 months of not working, it is now working. I did also say I would like to go ahead and setup an RMA if it is good indefinetly in case it should stop working again in the future and for the future I wanted to avoid the issues of being told I couldn't get an RMA. Another darn weird thing is now proximity alerts are working. I guess whatever I did with the POILoader, worked. When I was going to work this morning I didn't get the icons, but now I am. So guessing it takes a while for things to sync up? So for now, unless the touchscreen stops working again, all is good.
  23. saddlebum I will back up a bit. When I got the unit, proximity alerts worked. Not sure how the previous owner got them to work. After talking to Garmin the 1st couple times they had me do a hard reset which sets everything back to factory. After that I lost proximity alerts and can't get them back. Dave, I did a search on my hard drive for all the csv files and it wasn't there. I wonder now that I am thinking about it if I should direct it to the Garmin unit for a csv file?
  24. update. previous encounters (3 or 4 so far) w/ Garmin have been via phone call. The original owner unregistered the mygarmin account and I registered in my name shortly afterwards so this should be a good indication that I actually bought it and am the rightful owner. My last call to them to work out sending the unit to them as the unit was now registered to me via mygarmin account. They then told me there are 2 registrations (my garmin and hard registration). They didn't tell me about the hard registration at all previously. I have contacted the previous owner a couple times to undo the hard registration. At least from the phone call, until the owner does this, Garmin won't help me. Not sure if the previous owner undid the hard registration or not as I haven't heard anything back from him. Last night I sent Garmin an e-mail to plead my case and to approve me giving them $170 to fix it. Why they are refusing money in this economy is beyond me. I was using POILoader to see if I can get the proximity alerts working. Can't figure it out for the life of me. I have it turned on. Still doesn't seem to work even after using POILoader. I found the link on the Garmin site on how to do it: http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/lang/en/searchsupport It shows a file E85_Final2.csv Is this just a file garmin made up for instruction purposes or this an actual file. The instructions say to use Manual but then you need to locate a file. I could not locate a file with this name. After messing around with POILoader, something said to try the screen calibration test. Can't use it since the touchscreen doesn't work so I am holding the remote literally up to the remote sensor window on the unit to get the remote to work with the unit. Well don't know what happened but touchscreen is now working. For the 3+ months I have had this thing the touchscreen would not work. I quickly did the calibration test so hopefully this takes care of the touchscreen issue. Put it on the bike and rode to work this morning. So far so good, it is still working. Hopefully it will continue to work.
