  1. I can attest to their work. His daughter and my niece are best friends who go to school together. My brother hooked me up with a meet n greet/tour. I went and toured their facility and saw all of the work in progress and completed jobs. High quality stuff for sure. I have the RSV, two HD's and a Triumph. I just brought the RSV back to VA. I've kept my RSV stock, but the HD's are pretty amped up and one of them is still stock paint. In the Fall, I intend to ride one of the HD's out west to leave there for a year or so for West Coast/Mountain trips. While it's out there, I hope to have them do the paint. You can see their work in most moto mags.
  2. Several hundred miles later, both two-up and solo... very comfortable and keeps the right areas cool. If you haven't tried one yet, you should.
  3. I was coming home W/B on 17 in the pouring rain a couple of hours ago (5 ish?) and passed a White RSV and a couple of other bikes in a pack (maybe an Ultra classic, a BMW, and a Honda or something similar??). Didn't look like there was any trunk rack on the RSV. Was it anyone here?
  4. Depends on the date/time. My work schedule is insane. You all set it up as a best fit for you and if I can make it, I will.
  5. Live near Rt 17. When I want a short fun ride, I head out 17 to 218 to Dalgren, down towards Colonial and back up Rt 3. Short and sweet if time is an issue. I like exploring down by Lake Anna too.
  6. If she gets her a$$ up soon, she goes. If not, I'll try it with just the tuck in between the seat and the trunk to see if it's secure.
  7. In the few short weeks I've been a member here, I've learned about many things I previously never knew regarding my Venture. Included in that category are items which make the trip more comfortable. A few days ago, I read a thread about seat covers in this Bike Accessories section. I happened to be near my local IKEA yesterday and went in to take a look at the sheepskin pelts talked about in the previous thread. They have two sizes and two colors (white and gray). The larger size is $40 and the smaller is $20. The larger size is the perfect fit to cover the venture seat, front to back and perfectly drapes over the sides just enough. I took off the top bracket of my Utopia backrest and made measurements for a slit. A few seconds later after a slit from an exacto knife, the base nub of the backrest poked through and I re-attached the top. Looks good. In the back, I tucked the couple of inches of leftover material between the seat and the trunk. Seems nice and tight. Between me sitting on it, the backrest keeping it in place, tucking it in and either luggage or my girlfriend sitting on the rear seat, I think it's pretty secure. I am heading out for a ride shortly and I'll let you know if I notice an increase in comfort and how well it worked.
  8. Do you mean Chili's Ribs? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtwg_6ddvYw]YouTube - I want my baby back ribs[/ame]
  9. If you have issues with the way FL's handle, how do you feel about the RSV - seriously? I have two HD's (FLHT and FLHTC) and their handling is superior to my RSV without question. The front ends on the Ventures are really not good. I'm not knocking my RSV, I love it and it serves a purpose, but it is not even close to being as agile as my FLHTs. My RSV is better in certain other aspects which is why I have it and why I like it. None of them can touch my Triumph.
  10. Thanks very much to V7goose and Squidley. I found the info and it helps.
  11. I've kept you folks out of a series of e-mails to/from SW Moto all weekend. I've tried to be nice about it, but from the latest e-mail it's clear to me that this guy Blaine is an ass. The e-mail correspondence from his is very unprofessional to a paying customer. I've never seen anything like it. Never. I can't tell you all what to do but I would certainly never use them again, best price or not, and I would encourage anyone who cares about customer service to follow. I won't share all the dirty laundry but the e-mail has been surreal.
  12. Ok, you've got me interested in these Diamond R Leveling Links. I've done some searches here and read some commentary about them, but no detailed instructions on the install. Where do they go? I'll do anything to help the front end handling of this beast. Pictures or detailed description would be most appreciated. If I missed a prior thread on this even after the search I conducted, then just shoot me the link. Thanks very much.
  13. I've now traded a few e-mails with Blaine. I've re-read them several times and here's my assessment: First, he doesn't know how to collect his thoughts and put them to paper but when he does, he interjects his opinion instead of just stating fact. In his last e-mail to me, he suggested that when people order in December it relieves him of much stress and letter-writing. I didn't need tires then and couldn't anticipate when I would. Second, he isn't running his business at its maximum potential; the web site is demonstrative of that. A better run business and a better managed web site would reduce his stress. People like me wouldn't have to pester him if we had the information we needed. That said, I don't think you should abandon using this company based upon my experience unless you choose to for your own reasons. Just manage your expectations. Expect at least 8 days for shipping, don't anticipate any communication or information (place the order on blind faith) and you will have no amount of frustration at all.
  14. The price was great. Can't complain about that for sure. The web site is not the best I've ever seen, that's for sure. The response your buddy received from Blaine was of similar tone to the one I received. Not sure if its his company or not, but I'm thinking that Mr. Blaine ought not be the one dealing with customers. Had the e-mail reply to me been responsible, I'd wait the 8 days suggested in his e-mail, or I would've paid extra to expedite the shipping. I sent a reply to him. I'll let you know the outcome and how long it takes to get my tires. Thanks
  15. I ordered on the 15th. I sent an e-mail (they have no phone) this morning politely asking what the status might be so that I can plan around it. The reply was less than gracious, suggesting that I should not have bothered them with such an e-mail and directing me to read their home page for shipping details; noting that AZ to VA takes 8 days. I saw that figure nowhere on their site. They have no way to track the shipment either. I'll wait until they get here, no matter how long it takes. I can assure you, however, that I will not use their company again. My mistake. I have four bikes require a lot of $$ per year and I like to spend it at places I know and trust and who have decent customer service. If I have a bad experience, I move on.
  16. Based upon all of your positive commentary about SW Moto Tire, I purchased two tires on-line. I have not had the same positive experience that you've all raved about. This will be my last purchase from them and I hope that some day my tires arrive.
  17. Thanks everyone for this info. I thought I knew all the cool roads nearby, but this is new to me. I will get on it within the next two weeks. Regards, TTW

  19. What is the route #? Between what town and what town so I can find it on the map? Thanks
  20. First of all, they don't come with new HD's unless they changed practices recently. I have two of them and they sure didn't come with mine. Second, the 0-60 will suit you just fine and you can get the front to about 7 with that pump. Progressive Suspension makes them and you can get one from J&P or any other cycle parts supplier. Third, I'd caution you on going too stiff, but tweak it till it feels right for you. Lastly, I am a fan of keeping the valves the way the manufacturer made them - mange each one's air pressure on its own. Good luck and ride safe.
  21. I've ridden the Dragon but it didn't test my nerves as much as riding to the top of Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina http://www.grandfather.com/ or the following: In Arizona, go ride Rt 666 (The Devil's Highway), now called Rt 191 from Morenci Mine to Springerville: http://www.azride.com/DevilsHighwayRun.html Or, go try Route 168 from Big Pine (South of Bishop off 395) in California to Oasis at Rt 266. There are parts of the road when climbing up and over the range when you actually have to stop the bike and look around a corner of blasted-through mountain to make sure that no one else is coming through the one-lane road. Then it smooths out to some nice sweepers at a high alpine plain and then gets tricky again. You probably won't see a soul on this rode. http://www.motorcycleroads.us/roads/ca168.html
  22. I just went through the same thing. He said they were a) discontinued, and B) never made for the correct sizes of 150/90 and 150/80. Avon Fitment Guide demonstrates otherwise. Jokers.
  23. Thanks everyone. I've been to check out Coleman and I've been to FMS several times. I probably like them better than Coleman. I'll check out the Cycle Center in Culpepper before I make any service choices. I was hoping that there would be a quality Indy around. These dealers are all pretty inflexible with pricing. They wanted to charge me $222 and $181 for Dunlop E3's, plus $125 for mounting and balancing. If I buy them on-line cheaper, they charge me more four the mount and balance. So, they've got you either way. Absolutely ridiculous. Thanks for your input and ride safe.
